So I finished episode 17. Great episode, but I have one concern. How did Hyakkimaru know where Dororo was? They got separated 3 episodes back and Hyak was side tracked to his old guardian's place. He couldn't possibly have known Dororo was kidnapped and taken to an island.

Probably by smell? He followed Dororo's traits but stopped to get the new limbs, so he probably knew the direction where she went.

It might not have been Shark Week this episode but it was great! Those guys saying that what the doctor does is useless and stole the stuff he just gave to the corpses sure had a good taste of karma.

Hyakki finally reunites with the doctor and he was conflicted about whether what he did was right because of how the guy keeps getting more and more determined to reach his objective no matter how monstrous or mortal those who stand in his way. I have to say that instead of thinking that it'd be better off if he put Hyakki down so he wouldn't live a life like that, it's more reasonable to think that it's good that he was given a choice to live his life when he wasn't supposed to. Without his help, he wouldn't have felt all of these new things and met Dororo who's become such an integral part in retaining his humanity. You're his mama now ♡

Tahomaru was out hunting rats and he pretty much just vented out on those critters by giving them all a slow and crispy death by nailing the mother to the floor. They're on the hunt for Hyakkimaru and they might even meet on the Cape where Dororo is.

I wonder if Hyakki called Jukai "Mother" because he said the same line as his mother did... The "Sorry, there is nothing I could do to save you" line, anyone?

I almost died of laughter when Hyakki called Jukai his mom lmao

I feel bad for Tahomaru though. Cause now the deal between his dad and the demons are broken, their country is on the path of destruction no matter if Hyakki takes back his body parts or not. Tahomaru's gonna regret his actions because what he's doing now is not for the good of his country. He should instead focus on other ways to save his country instead of killing his brother

Why does it feel like this show's trying to make you empathize with man-eating demons and terrible humans that'd sacrifice their babies for prosperity.

My dude's just trying to get his body back, which was taken from him against his will the moment he was born. Maybe try something other than sacrificing babies to fix your shitty domain next time.

A fine episode again, it was about time. But you can't exploit the same line over and over again.

the false moral dilemma is annoying. There is no dilemma...

It might be one of the only ways they found to stretch this series to full-length, seeing how they went with spending so much time with the brother's making his mond then the wait for Tahômaru's duel (and death).

Now Jukai had a will to live.

"I met you, gave you a body and named you". Well, you are his okka-chan then.

I waited so much for this reunion but except for some moments this episode was a disappointment for me. You are a killer too Jukai, how can you question Hyakkimaru's morality.

In my opinion, people who do bad things not only deserve to be killed, but they deserve to have never been existed. Hyakkimaru is 100% right on his quest. You cannot weigh human lifes on a scale.

Dude just give Hyakkimaru a leg goddammit he's gonna need it. I didn't like the philosophical mumbo jumbo, so what if he continued to kill demons and maybe some humans, it's all to get this body back besides these men are evil, it's not like he's gonna kill innocent people.

Heartwarming to see Hyakkimaru reunite with his 'mother' Jukai. Hyakkimaru has quite the heavy burden on his shoulders but as long as he has Dororo on his side...oh wait a second or two...

I watched this series late and I'm glad I did.
I'll die waiting for the episodes every week hahah.
This ep is one of the good ones. Especially when Hyakkimaru called Jukai 'Okaa-chan', I can't even -- ;-;

It also made me laugh. I'm glad their relationship still hold strong. Hyakki being a wonder child is especially what made their interaction so..raw, and beautiful.

You just said that human lifes cannot be weighed on, so how could you say every 'bad guys' deserved to be killed/ not existed at all??

I don't know about other shows, but in Dororo most bad guys were not a two dimentional villains who do nothing everyday but doing evil.
They have lives, they have their reasons to do what they did, even if it's morally wrong (like Itachi and Daigo). Jukai too, as he regretted what he had done and repented by helping people and later- corpses by giving them body parts.

I'm not saying I agree with him judging Hyakki, he had a good reasons for slaying demons (Nothing wrong for taking back what originally his) but I don't disagree with him either. If left uncontrol Hyakki can grow into smthng more frightening than a demon, bringing disaster to humans.
He just didn't know Hyakkimaru have Dororo, he'd be fine..maybe.
And we can see that Jukai let him go in the end, even if he didn't give him a new leg.

"I know what you are. You're mama."

Omg, that made my eyes tear up a little. I did laugh a little, too. It was a beautiful moment.

I think son #2 becomes the monster, not Hyakki. Shouldn't #2 capture all the ghouls/demons but keep them alive to prevent Hyakki from regaining his body? I mean, also, how will the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ever defeat Shredder if Master Splinter is dead?

I was totally wrong, too. I figured Hyakki had already caught up with Dororo but they were very much separated. I wonder how Hyakki knew where to find Dororo?

Is one of son #2's bodyguard people a girl? They call themselves brothers but that one seems feminine.

Lastly, I guess the 12th demon really was unable to devour Hyakki. The lady/goddess of mercy, well, had mercy in him. But what does that mean in regards to Hyakki, the a-hole Lord/father, and their destinies?

I haven't been very impressed by this series so far, but this episode was a welcome change of pace. Hyakkimaru's relationship with his "mama" was fleshed out, and the extent to which he has regained the humanity which was stolen from him at birth. That Hyakkimaru uses Dororo's term for her mother for Jukai is a great way of showing how she has played an important part in his growth and supports his decision to reunite with her.

I like Hyakkimaru's determination in the face of what I consider pointless hand-wringing over the wisdom of killing demons. The metaphor of the sealed (but livable) cave was

Was that cameo by master Splinter?

I noticed that too! Could the color of the kimono really be a coincidence?

Speaking of that sequence, it's hard to believe that anyone in a chiefly agricultural society could muster much sympathy for rats, so the the henchman's discomfort with burning the rats together is a bit silly.

I also note that killing the rat for feeding people to its children is an analog to Hyakkimaru killing the demons despite it harming the people of the town. Evil is not sanitized when it does someone else some good.
