Synopsis

A samurai lord has bartered away his newborn son's organs to forty-eight demons in exchange for dominance on the battlefield. Yet, the abandoned infant survives thanks to a medicine man who equips him with primitive prosthetics—lethal ones with which the wronged son will use to hunt down the multitude of demons to reclaim his body one piece at a time, before confronting his father. On his journeys the young hero encounters an orphan who claims to be the greatest thief in Japan.

MAPPA fucking nails it again!

Art/Sound:
Production wise, the anime looks visually appealing with fantastic uses of colour and rich fluidity to enhance action sequences. The modernised art style is executed perfectly and thus MAPPA has excelled in transforming this 60s manga into a modern gem. Sound wise, holy shit that opening! Holy shit that ending! Holy shit that OST! Holy shit, excellent voice acting! You get the picture, opening and ending of the season and just everything production wise has been polished to an extremely high degree, I'd give the art a 9/10 and the sound a 10/10!

This anime will certainly become a masterpiece. The animation is very detailed and has a beautiful artistic style that corresponds well to the dark period of the Sengoku during medieval Japan. The fighting scenes are well done and pleasant to watch. The soundtrack is superb and perfectly follows the animation.

This anime has three main strengths that make me hope that it will become a great anime.

First, the wealth of its history based on Tezuka's manga published in 1967. The story resembles a Japanese folk tale that tells, if we simplify, the journey of a cursed samurai who fights the Youkais. The narrative is very read more

Dororo is a samurai story about demons, swords, body parts, humanity and this baby who is born without eyes and skin, so it basically looks the same as any newborn to all but its parents. Anyway, this baby dude has the same destiny as Moses and that one annoying nerd from the Disney movie which name I don't remember but it had something to do with singing in the middle of a desert. The difference being these over-grown skull bugs that wear clothes; giant weasels; and tentacle mud-monsters/other equally original looking monsters who eat people while classic Japanese music plays and old men play banjo-swords read more

Dororo is weird, it’s a blend between berserk and samurai champloo, its dark but doesn't try to be edgy, it has a blank slate as the main character yet every episode he becomes more interesting and the anime has allot of flaws but also allot of heart in its characters and its production.

Story:7/Characters:7

The story is simple, almost comparable to Katanagatari but a bit darker and with shorter episodes. It's about a kid cursed by his father with selfish desires who must fight for his humanity (Literally) he has to defeat demons/ghouls in order to restore his body, the story itself is very simple read more
