Just starting this as I've been trying to catch up with this season as I have time for anime now.

First thing that leaps to midn OMG dozai osamu :> I'm really tempted to read some of his stuff after watching Bungou sstray dogs, and reconized the name right away.

Second, is it me, or does the ending song kinda remind anyone of One pieces, "One day."

Finally started this show.

Enjoying the amount of realism so far. Not that realism determines the quality of a show by any means, but usually SoL/comedy/romance shows just ground the basics of the show in realism and then still have tropey characters and over the top gags or crazy overly dramatic stuff. This was pretty damn close to realistic and ordinary. I cant necessarily relate to the characters because their crazy shy, but I know that level of shyness is completely common.

That CGI is fucking abysmal though. Holy shit that so low budget it makes low budget look award winning. Jesus Christ it makes Berserk look like a fucking masterpiece. I don't understand why ruin a show that has a unique art style with that garbage? Just draw less characters or keep them as motionless as possible. I would've preferred that over the monstrous creatures on screen.

Also...the split second Dazai was mentioned I got Bungou Stray Dogs on the brain, lol.

I dropped the series after this eps because the plot progresses too slow and for half the episode all we learned is that these two kids like each other. Its not my type. I can stand slow development if the characters are interesting, like Kimi no Todoke, sawako's personality is interesting and its fun to watch her interact with others and make friends and fix misunderstandings, but in this anime the two main characters are boring, they r ur average high school kids. This story may be amazing or maybe even a masterpiece later on, but if it cant capture my attention in the first episode, i won't give it a chance. There are too many great animes out there for me to watch to force myself to watch 3 episodes then decide whether its good or not and to continue or not.

Fair enough if that's your prerogative. Tsuki ga Kirei is as much a show about subtlety and relatablity, so if it didn't resonate with you in the first episode, especially in the diner scene. then it might not be for you.

Do note that Tsuki ga Kirei does not sink its fangs into you until episode 3; the first two episodes are pretty much just introductions to the various characters.

For the early weekly viewers who came in without any prior expectations, the first episodes seemed like a charming light series - just enough to keep you curious and the cast was ordinary yet likeable; just like real life.

However, with the attention that Tsuki ga Kirei has received recently, there may be a lot more expectations placed on it by new viewers. It's true that nothing really happens in the first couple of episodes, but you'll be doing yourself a disservice if you don't at least make it to episode 3 and decide if it's really not for you. The ride to the end of the series from there on is likely one I won't forget.

Having stills for establishing shots would be better than those janky ass walk cycles.

The main character animation is better, but still stiff. They are both pretty awkward though, so it kinda makes sense.

when they interacted in the sports equipment room, she suddenly became comfortable with touching his back? after not being able to talk to him for the longest time. A shot of her putting the stress ball plushy thing away would have remedied this a bit. At least it would show the audience that she was opening up to the guy a bit, instead of being kinda jarring.

Still a good ep.

My First impression of this show is that it is quite slow(pacing wise) and the animation and character design is also not to my liking either neverthless i will keep on watching it as i like the two main characters.

That restaurant scene hits too close to home. Reminds me of that one embarassing time my parents did that when I just transferred to a new school lol.

This looks to be a sweet vanilla romance so far, although the two protagonists are way too shy for my liking. I'm curious on how they'll develop their relationship though so I'll press on.

It's a slow painful things for me to watch.. but as the true warrior, I've finished it without any skipping.

One of the time in my life passing 20 minutes felt like 2 hours. Seriously.
I honestly trying to enjoy it, there's many characters being shown to have good story potential. But I can't.. having a plain looking, silence mc, and have over-exaggerating encounter like staring for minutes and both being nervous or can't talk for minutes.. pisses me off the most. (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻

A slow and peaceful slice of life healing anime... it's painless and simplicity is truly relaxing.

It's strange though as it's rather rare for healing anime to have such score... why does it have such score? Well I guess I will go ahead and find out.

Quite an adorable start. It has a very easygoing atmosphere. The character's behavior is subtle, yet it's conveying the blooming love story in an obvious way. The OP is beautiful, it really gives that sensation of springtime beginning (the budding of romance).

Decent start. A bit too slow for my taste but it wasn't really boring either if I'm honest. Not to mention that aside from the excess of bad CGI used in the crowds, I really liked the general esthetic of the show.

And also, this anime has that nostalgic feeling from when I was in middle school so I'm really curious about how the story will develop from here.

First time posting, but I just had to. First off, no matter how interesting the story might turn out to be, the animation is just off-putting. To think this is the same studio that did Oregairu's S2... unbelievable! And that was back in 2015! Even Konobi's animation is leagues ahead of this. Did the studio lose good animators or what?

As per usual, I'm a sucker for these genres, so I'll grate my teeth, wash my eyes, and try to make it through this.

also the MCs are so shy it hurts lol i can’t believe the most interesting guy was the bookshop guy

Rewatching Tsuki ga Kirei now and the nostalgia has affected me already (3rd time seeing it now). I first saw it in 2017, 2nd time in 2018 after I had to break up with my ex-girlfriend because I was moving to Canada and she was moving thousands of miles away from me after we graduated from high school together. My life's been a lot different in those two+ years since I last saw it but my love for this show hasn't changed one bit.

I loved the premiere episode for this show. Very subtle, awkward, quiet, realistic and lovable to watch. Some of the little details like Kotarou air boxing when he's feeling gassed or nervous when getting Akane's number and adding her on LINE reminds me of myself since I used to do air boxing and sometimes even around the house and talk to myself when I'm nervous then regarding similar things too. Even Akane playing with her plush, and messing with people by taking their phone and screenshotting 100s of times/taking 100s of pictures, and her and her friends making fun of bad spellings all reminds me of me and my friends in high school and it reminds me how much I really loved my time at high school and how much I miss it now that I'm a couple years into university and working too. Akane and Kotarou meeting each other and struggling to talk to each other felt relatable, hell I was the kind of person when I was younger to run away from my friends whenever they'd talk to girls since I was afraid of them, and I had a crush on a girl for many years before I even was able to speak to her normally. I'm quite the awkward guy myself back in the day hehehe.

Really other than the heart and soul of the show (the story and cast) being really lovable and charming so far, Kotarou and Akane are not just blindly in love with each other from the getgo like a standard romance in anime form, they're awkward but still in their own groups and have their own distinctive personalities and interests and hobbies so they feel like genuine people and not just lost in the rush of romance like a normal romance anime would instill. It's dry to some people but it's the kind of romance show that I love in general. This episode was a great little foundation for the rest of the story to build on.

Music was really pleasant and complements the show nicely too, same goes for the voice acting too from Kotarou and Akane's voice actor/actress respectively. The CG crowd movements are rough but I'm pretty used to it already, doesn't really ruin anything about the characters and story so I can adjust to it well enough.

I know the scene you are refering to, it kinda blends well when the people closer to the screen are animated in 2D, while they use CG for the background ones.

Rewatching this and man this is just as good as I remembered it to be even though I actually forgot the details.

To me this is the kind of anime that I could force people to watch if I could, must watch. There's no other anime that can express how middle school kids in love feel and what they go through other than this anime.

10/10 the first time I watched it and right now too it's gonna be a 10/10 for me.

The end of an era. Thank you Wit, Mappa and Isayama.
Feeling half happy, half sad.
