Kingdom for example, those visuals jusy completely turn me off from the anime.

Tokyo ravens was great apart from the cg fights which were kind of annoying to watch

Knights of sidonia is also another one that really turned me off due to its 3d visuals

It's pretty nice when done well, since all that extra budget money saved will allow some seemingly overpriced production.

e.g. Unlimited Budget Works.

Knights of Sidonia stuck to same visual for entire show including season 2 so it's either take it from the start or don't.

Berserk: The Golden Age also uses 3D for all 3 films.

Kantai Collection, however, tried to mix but the difference is noticeable at least to me. That kinda throws me off.

So I guess it does bother me but wouldn't say I hate it.

I don't mind when an anime is all 3d CG, like Knights of Sidonia or RWBY. But when random 3d CG scenes are thrown into 2D anime, it does look kind of weird and off putting.

I do unless the entire anime is CGI like RWBY or the CGI is so good that it's hardly noticeable like Shingeki no Kyojin.

I don't mind 3D cars and backgrounds as long as they're doing well, but I hate 3D characters that are cel shaded to look 2D. It doesn't make any sense, and almost always looks terrible.

It can be bad, I don't like it much in most idol anime which is why I haven't gave Pripara a shot.

Etotama has good CG in battles, Arpeggio has good CG on the ships but bot the characters, Aldnoah.Zero has decent CG on the ships and Kataphrakts. Love Live has decent CG for it's dancing but I prefer 2D dancing. YuYuYu has CG that's so good that you can't notice it much if at all.

Bad CG is usually on characters especially in the latest Precure movie, it's terrible and Million Doll's OP which is pig disgusting.

I still can't forgive pierrot for Kingdom. The 3D is just so badly utilised. It's just there to save budget. But the 3D in aldnoah looks stunning, at least to me.

pretty sure fate/zero has lots of it, but it didn't bother me.

There's a right and a wrong way to handle it, I find.

If you're using CG to cut budget (i.e. to animate a character/mech which would be too costly to handle with cel animation), that's a no-go.

If you are using CG exclusively and effectively, that can add to the experience.

For me, everything is story. Very rarely does extreme artwork impact the story in a major way. Especially a good story. Stick figures work for me, as long as the story is told well.

What is really off putting for me, is bad music, or dialog read poorly. Enjoyment is linked to sound on many anime. But it still comes down to story. If I'm watching a sub, I can turn the sound off, if it annoys too much.

CG should be used to give the anime a distinct style, not just to be lazy and cheap.

After the atrocity of Cross Ange with its bad CGI dragons, they might as well make anime with adobe flash.

I haven't seen the show, but if you mean their robots being bad CGI, I don't really get your point because there is a lt worse, and with that I mean A LOT WORSE CGI in anime than that.

Well the robots are CGI as well, but they fight actual dragons that are also rendered in CGI and it looks pretty bad. As for the mechs, it does look pretty awkward having the characters in 2D riding 3D vehicles.

IMO, only Hibike Euphonium managed to 'blend' 2D and 3D art really well, to the point I feel it's an improvement. Otherwise, all 2D+3D simultaneous scenes I've come across have been detracting, but not always so bad it will feel jarring.

But I'd prefer scenes to pick one or the other and stick with it, like Etotama did. And even more preferrably, the entire episode/ movie.

But if full 3D ever became the norm, I'd likely stop watching.

Seeing the robots in this scene:

They look really, really good for cgi. Just look at Shingeki no Bahamut: Genesis. The animation itself in the show is great, but when they use cgi it just looks so bad!

Just watch the scene from 1:00 to 1:15, it just looks aweful!

God Eater isn't actually fully CGI. The art of the show just makes it look like it. The monsters however are CGI, but you don't really notice it since it looks a lot like the art itself.

You gotta admit that they did a superb job with the Eclipse in the third Berserk movie, though it was the only scene where CGI looked good.

You would think that with CGI some of the floating particles would spin in Knights of Sidonia, but they don't.

3D CG is far superior to 2D CG for fight scenes. The problem is when they are blended together it sticks out like a sore thumb. I think the main problem with full 3d CG animes like Knights of Sidonia is they are not rendering 60 frames and cut a lot of corners like character animation and not animating a lot of debris and particles in the fight scenes. Knights of Sidonia looks alright despite that which makes me believe that if 3D CG anime will become a larger trend in higher budget action anime.

CGI looked pretty good in Knights of Sidonia when using anime standards lol. I usually don't like it if they try to blend it with 2D. For example, it was really off putting in Garo, which ultimately led me to drop the show.

I'm fine with 3D CG as a visual effect like for a supwerpower or an explosion scene but when they use a CG for a character it's just meh in many ways.

You'll get used to it while watching the show and eventually probably start liking it too, it happened with me and a lot of other anime fans that I know. Also, you'll miss one of the most gorgeous scenes from this year This is actually a spoiler, so if you don't want to spoil yourself, don't click this button.

Yeah, they just had to use 3d cg to ruin Kingdom. Good thing they didn't use it on the second season.

3DCG or CGI in anime are cheaper to make so quality will suffer obviously, watch anime 3DCG movies instead like Captain Harlock, Saint Seiya Legend of Sanctuary, Tekken Blood Vengeance, Final Fantasy Advent Children Complete, etc to see what really the japanese can do with CGI if they have a high budget

I do like it, though I have to say that Arslan Senki should keep the cg in the background. I understand the usefulness of using cg to animate an army more easily than by hand, but damn.
Anyway, I usually do tend to like it. When most people seem to be complain about it I'm like 'but it's not bad'.

It depends. Sword Art Online and Aldnoah.zero blend the 3D perfectly. Braves of the Six Flowers has ugly CGI which I can never find threatening. They are NOT EVEN THERE.
