Oop looks like your curry got too thick lol, that’s really unfortunate. Hopefully it still tastes good!
P.S. doesn’t it feel weird not writing essays for every reply :P

I think it is a success if you could let the "water" through the dam lol

I see, glad to see you back! MAL is definitely a distraction at times, maybe I should take a leaf out of your book during final exams in October haha.

The moving train is similar to the passage of life in my opinion, and the "next station" is the next stage of life. "The train would move on to the next station, what about us? What about the stage?" I think the scene in which Nana "kills" the girls is an attempt to stop them from moving forward. Later on, the girls sit beside their dead bodies, reaffirming their need to rediscover and reinvent themselves, which shows that ironically, Nana's murder allows them to be reborn, as humans rather than puppets or actors. (There is a scene in which the dead girls lie like planks on the train, much like puppets).

Overall, the rewatch allowed me to gain so many more insights into the movie, the stuff you realise and the symbols you pick up on are infinite, there are just so many! I think there are two ways to experience the movie, critically by looking through the symbols and allegories of the stage, as well as purely from a performative standpoint. The rewatch allowed me to experience both at once, probably the greatest rewatch I have done so far. (I demand an 11/10 option now).

Speaking of rewatches, I am thinking of rewatching Liz and the Blue bird AGAIN, with the last one being in Feburary or January. The new season of Hibike had me reliving those moments watching the movie and season 2, and I really do miss Mizore and Nozomi :(.
Speaking of which, Yuuko and Natsuki's CAMEO APPEARANCE WAS SO COOL AAAHHH, especially since they got matching hair accessories, Yuuko being the tsundere as ever and Natsuki being such a tease. They have great chemistry together, just like every other pair in the show.
Mayu does remind me of Kumiko of the past, and sadly a bit of myself, as I wish I have more ambition rather than follow the crowd. Alas, I am resigned to slowly building up my skills to eventually be able to say I could aspire to do something as strongly as Kumiko could. With Kumiko looking towards the future in university, she catches a glimpse of the past. Really fitting.

Have a nice day!

Good evening! I finally survived the week (and exams) and finally have time to get back into anime. I started off strong with a rewatch of Revue Starlight the movie (hasnt been a long time since we talked about it lol, have been wanting to rewatch so bad ever since). The movie aged like fine wine, I notice even more smaller instances of symbolism and foreshadowing in the first hour, which is the lead up to the revues. The scene on the moving train is extremely underrated honestly, as the girls are nothing more than stage girls, puppets, before discovering their true selves in the revue, so Nana could easily slay them to protect her ideology of preserving the present forever.

What are your thoughts on the tomato symbol? I thought that it mostly symbolised fakeness, more specifically being a stage girl or having the role of a stage girl. (And ironically enough, it was described as sweet- like how a stage girl could be beautiful). And btw, what was your favourite revue of the 5 (if you can remember)?

Not sure if you really want to discuss something that we've talked about many times a few weeks ago lol, but I am really glad I got to experience the movie again. You should also rewatch it sometime in the future!

Now, I really need to get more rest and catch up on seasonals ;)
