Synopsis

After surviving the brutal challenges of Idofront, Riko now possesses a White Whistle, allowing her to descend into the Abyss's sixth layer—The Capital of the Unreturned. Alongside Reg and Nanachi, Riko begins to explore the uncharted domain, where the ruins of the promised Golden City are located.

As the trio starts to adapt to the harsh environment, they soon encounter dangerous creatures and treacherous landscapes. Their expedition leads them to a village inhabited by strange beings known as "hollows." Despite the creeping sense of unease that welcomes them, the three venture onward to uncover the mysteries of the settlement and long-lost legacies of the forgotten adventurers who once descended into the horrors of the unexplored Abyss.

Very good and very solid story up untill this fufa or faufa or whatever her name is starting to go crazy and the last few episodes are nothing but blown out fight scenes.

this isnt dragon ball z and i aint watching it for stuff like that. i watch it for the nihalistic misery that the characters are in.

the more nihlistic. misrable. and horryfying is the future of the characters in the show the better. and dont you dare judge me on that.

its reletable because this is exactly how the world is (for some people. me included) those who have good life cant relate.

Mixed Feelings
An insurmountable amount of potential squandered in an irredeemable execution.

I loved the first season of Made in Abyss, although it had its hitches it was still an excellent show with some of the best art, characters and tone-setting I've seen in anime.

The Golden City, however, fails to live up to the investment I had in the first season. The art is great and the characters are fine, but the tone feels like it's all over the place whenever the plot deems it convenient. There'll be a scene of Riko having fun through an episode of almost slice-of-life proportions, followed by a massive depressive lore-dump ...

Made in Abyss: Retsujitsu no Ougonkyou is an abysmal continuation to what could have been an interesting story.
The first season showcased fascinating worldbuildind, captivating the viewer with enchanting atmospheres and the promise of a journey in search of the knowledge at the end of the abyss, all qualities this season completely failed in carry on. The movie foreshadowed the shortcomings of the second season, but there the detachment from the strong points of the plot (dynamism of the journey, discovery of the abyss) was excused by the events that were essential for the continuation of the plot. Here the story becomes static once again ...
