How do some users manage the time to watch so much animes? I'm not mentioning accounts with song/shorts/OVAs entries mainly. I'm talking about people who watch TV shows and longrunners. And also a question for these users: how do you manage the time to make the watching rate enhance? I watched +300 and I find it a lot xD

It's just a function of time. I've been watching continously since 2009 and stuff just accumulates. It also helps if you have a broader interest in the medium and a bit of curiousity so that you don't pidgeonhole yourself into a few select genre and burn yourself out. On that account my suggestion is watch stuff at your own pace intead of forcing yourself to chase seasonals, watch titles you are actually interested in or genre that you currently have craving for instead of what's popular or recent and try to change up the genres/types of anime you watch to keep everything fresh.

They've been watching anime for decades.
They probably don't have a job, any other hobbies or a social life.
They watch stuff on higher speed, on the side or multiple anime at the same time.
And of course music videos, shorts and other OVAs and Specials but you already said that.

It just adds up over time, as long as you can keep watching at a decent rate. The average American watches 5 hours of TV every day, which is about 1 full cour of anime (although this number is somewhat inflated by retirees who have nothing better to do with their lives). If you watched one 12 episode anime every day then after 5 years you'd have nearly 2k anime.

My list has crossed 1k this year and I go at the steady pace of 3 episodes per day or 4 on holidays. I've been watching anime since 2003 and have added most of the series from my childhood to my list.

Simply watch, watch, and watch some more. The number of completed entries simply grows over time. I only started watching anime in late 2019, and I've already completed 500+ entries.
If someone has been watching for a decade or more, breaking the 1k - 2k mark should be a piece of cake for them.

There are people who have been watching anime for a decade or two.
I've been watching anime for 12 years, but I don't watch it too often. So, I only have about 1000 completed (167.7 days) which is extremely little for such a long period.

Advice how to manage your time?
1) watch openings and endings once and then skip them.
2) Google filler lists and skip all fillers.
3) Read manga. Reading manga is faster than watching anime. There are some animes which follow manga straight and if you read manga instead or read and watch the title at the same time, you'll save some time.

Lots of people have been watching anime for a long time. Those who started in the 90's or early 2000's for example have generally watched a lot of anime. A lot of time, and a lot of dedication.

I have more than 1k anime completed. It's not as hard as it seems

Just simply keeping up a solid amount (like 15+) of seasonals every season and watching non-seasonals on the side for a few years is literally all it takes.

I haven't done that even though I have watched lot of anime in my childhood because I watched them on tv and they were not consistent. It starts to loop after reaching certain episode.

I've added most of the ones I could remember at the time I created my list, most of them are the ones from Animax and Toonami since these two would air complete series, I didn't add the ones I watched on Nickelodeon and some other local channels since they would just repeat a small portion of the episodes and never complete the series.

Just keep a goal of completing 200 animes a year. It's not that difficult to complete 200 animes a year even for a casual watcher.

I have been watching anime since 2007 but honestly only half of my list is TV so maybe I'm not the one to talk. But my list started to grow majorly since I got into seasonals 7 years ago. When you watch regularly about 10+ anime a season it's not that difficult to have at least +40 anime at the end of the year, not mentioning other non-seasonal stuff you just watch when you have more time. Personally, I consider seasonals very easy to watch even if you don't have much time, for me it only takes about an hour a day for 1 to 3 episodes that I watch during meals. And there are always weekends.

An hour a day for a couple decades or so adds up.For example in one year you can watch 84 twelve episode anime series a year. In one hour you can watch three episodes. In one week you can watch twenty one episodes. In one month that comes out to 84 episodes. And 1008 episodes a year. Which is 84 twelve episode anime a year. So ten years that comes out to 840 twelve episode series. Double that if you spend two hours a day watching anime.

the 1-5 minute one off ona or music videos as well as finding low rated one offs to give a low avg score bc some people think they look cool with an avg score lower than 5, as well as the people who pretend they dont drop any shows or say somethings completed while it was on in a different tab muted

I dont know about anime but I have 1000s of manga on my list (and still more than that which i couldn't find here or forgot about). I guess its because I read multiple manga at a time. I dont always complete them in one go, rather I take my time and read different manga I find.
If you enjoyed the time you wasted, then its not a waste of time.

The count gets often higher because of specials, shorts, ova or movies. For example, I have not so many entries (in comparison) but a lot of time because of rewatches and I don't watch those specials or OVA that much.
I mean, you can find accounts here with less days but 5 times my completed.

Having 1k entries is not hard. Add some to Plan to Watch, some to complete and you're done. The questions lie in 1K completion.

I only watch a few episodes a day on average, but I’ve been doing that for almost 25 years. It just added up over time.

For people who have’t been watching for very long, maybe anime is just their main hobby? If they’re mostly watching anime in their free time, it could add up really fast. Someone could easily get through a whole single cour series in one day if they had 4-5 hours to kill, which plenty of people do. Even finishing just 3 series a week would add up to nearly 800 anime over the course 5 years, and many people watch much more than that.

Watch anime as a brain exercise.
Watch YouTube to relax/turn brain off.
Play a phone-game when you need some alternative exercise.
Make yourself "happy" every other day, to release stress.
Repeat.

Each 12 episode TV shows averages to around 5 hours. Do that once a day during your free time (if you have any) and you can start to build up your entry count and watch time. You can easily do 300+ in a year if you push and stay consistent (without messing around with other stuff).

The only thing you really need is to know how sufficiently spend your time. Watching several episodes a day is really easy. I usually watch anime while I eat, during my lunchbreak or just before going to bed. I don't have time to watch anime otherwise and yet I've still managed to reach 1k+ anime completed just by watching several anime a day. Of course it took me more than 10 years, but it's still a proof that you can reach it with a perfectly normal and busy life.

Don't blame other if you can't. Blame your poor time management method instead.

Idk, just being older than 22 and anime not just being a phase but an actual life-long hobby? Not sure what else to say...
Also time-management skills are important. I see people spending 6 hours a day on their phone doing nothing and then wondering how anyone finds the time to watch 2 hours of anime per day...
I probably regret this post by now.

I've been watching for ca. 23 years.

But it's really about the music videos, ovas, shorts ... you name it.
Also some anime are cut down in five and more seasons plus extras like ovas.

The number here doesn't tell you that much.
Most people with 1-3k+ entries only have like 1/4 actual seasons in there.

-People faking their list is common ("gotta watch em all' users especially)
-List padding with shorts/specials/music is common
-Active watching since childhood
-Be older than a teenager
-Watch efficiently (skip all recaps/ops/eds)

It's really not that hard, and it's certainly not a big feat.
