The official Twitter account for Houbunsha's Manga Time Kirara announced on Saturday that Norimitsu Kaihou and Sadoru Chiba's zombie survival manga Gakkougurashi (School-Live!) will receive a sequel titled Gakkougurashi!: Otayori. The sequel will describe events after the conclusion of the original manga, and will be serialized in Manga Time Kirara Forward from its next issue on June 24. Both Kaihou (story) and Chiba (art) will return to their roles for the sequel.

Gakkougurashi was first published in Manga Time Kirara Forward on May 24, 2012 and concluded on November 22, 2019. The manga's 12th and final volume shipped on January 10. Yen Press licensed the manga in English in 2015 and published the 11th volume on October 29, 2019. The final English volume is scheduled to go on sale on August 18, 2020.

Lerche produced a 12-episode television anime adaptation broadcast in Summer 2015, and Crunchyroll simulcast the show with subtitles as it aired in Japan. Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime series in North America and released in on Blu-ray and DVD with an English dub in June 2017.

The manga received a live-action film adaptation that premiered in Japan on January 25, 2019, and inspired a four-episode drama series titled Gakkou XXX: Mou Hitotsu no Gakkougurashi!, an Amazon Prime Video exclusive available from January 16, 2019.

I dropped the manga around the time
If it's getting a sequel then now's a good time to pick it up again.
I'm watching anime since 2012. I also play games, sometimes.

Don't bother me if you want to 'become friends' or things like that.
It's tiresome. I know you just want to collect some meaningless numbers.

I hope this starts a season 2 off the anime as well to maybe promote the next manga. But I doubt that. Either way excited.

This is for two things: to cry with emotion and to get, if I feel like it, up to date with the manga...

This is awesome. I loved the manga so much but I feel the ending kinda soured a bit and was a bit lackluster so I'm hopeful for what this sequel brings

I hope that this sequel won't shatter this little hope of mine.
Only one month until the first chapter.

I'm more wondering how will the sequel even go on? I doubt they will use the same cast since they have a pretty definite ending, but I'm looking forward to what they'll do.

However, now that half a year have passed since the last chapter, I don't know anymore.
Also, we don't know how long will this sequel be or if they main girls will remain as the protagonists (I'm also doubtful about it) or will they focus on the crew from Isidore University, or any other character ?

I personally don't see where they could possibly go from here, but I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

I agree. Everything wrapped up, so it's hard to imagine how they could make a sequel.

There were some commenters on 2chan that claim that MTKF sales numbers took a dive after the original ended and Yuru Camp left. With Yumekui Merry also ending sooin, I can see them clamoring for more material.

Fortunately, the last chapter suggests that there's plenty left to talk about.

Hell Yeah, I really love this manga and anime. Buuuutt if it starts to get really shippy I probably won't keep up with the sequel, still looking forward to it all the same.

Don’t know anything about the manga, but the anime had one of the most interesting first episode twists that I’ve ever seen. I thought the rest of the anime was decent too so I wouldn’t mind if this manga sequel spawns an anime sequel as well. Or maybe I’ll just pick up the manga.

The ending of the manga was so rushed
so to have a sequel is really surprising! Though

Yep. Putting everything in spoilers just in case there are some people on here who haven't read the manga in its entirety yet.

The first ep of the anime is different than the manga and i personally think that the manga is a lot better, you should check out the manga as well. The story in the manga is a little bit different but i love it more than the anime. The main story is the same but there are little details that are not in the anime

Sounds good to me! The manga ending was pretty open-ended and the world building could be expanded further.
