Welp, these zombie idol girls knows how to do their research.

If anything, that producer guy is pretty energetic for building up morale for the group. I guess as more of them become popular, they have to build their publicity. That photoshoot was kinda awkward.

Saki still remains to be my favorite character but it's nice to see more of Ai's background story.

Ai and Junko's Backstory Finally Revealed.

I just love every episode of this more than the last. Each week Mappa out does themselves. Either with the Comedy or With its drama like this week. This week we learned how Ai and Junk went out. Both ways were kinda say and I think IHave heard of several musicians irl That have had similar fates. If it all goes like it think it wil,l next episode is gonna be emotional AF (mostly for Ai Fans). She is probably gonna meet up with her group 10 years later. Can't wait m8

It was predictable a clash of generations between girls ... by the way we know the reason for the death of Junko (plane crash) and Ai (a storm falls on him)
for the next episode, it's not a good idea to make them do a concert under the drache ....

I love that their giving us more backstory on how they died because that's something that I always wondered and now we know how 3 of them died. personally I can't decide which is worse plane crash or lightning strike? Still waiting for tae to wake up from her zombie sleep but at the same time I hope she never does.

Dang, Junko died in a plane crash & Ai died with a lighting strike during a performence. O_o

I kinda want to know how the remaining 3 girls (Lily, Yuugiri & Tae) died.

I agree with Ai 100% in regards to her outlook vs what Junko said...She really needs to get off her damn high horse

But man seeing that Junko died in a plane crash really hit me hard because I almost died the same way a few years back and now its one way that I absolutely DO NOT want to go out like

And Ai getting struck by lightning was messed up but I'd be lying if I said that it still wasn't epic lol....Wow, now I wanna know how the rest of the girls died (I feel like the older one was murdered judging by that scar on her neck)

I thought we were having a Kimagure Orange Road moment with the windblown hat there, for a second.

Also, zombies have issues. I guess this makes sense, since with the living, near-death experiences are a thing. Well, these girls have just... death experiences.

Oh, and I'm making the call that Yamada Tae is never "waking up," she's perfect the way she is.

The ideals of two idols from different times collide.
Today the girls had a mini concert, where their fans attended, the best thing is that the girls already have a bit of fame thanks to their commercial and other past activities, but it seems that Junko does not like the idea to interact with the fans.
Today we had a little backstory of Junko and Ai, Junko passed away in a plane crash, and Ai died in a live concert, a lightning strike her. This explains the physical state of their zombie bodies.
Today Tae stood out in her small moments, she helped her friends to distract Koutaro and in the concert Tae was the most popular with her imitation of Cocco-kun, and even when Koutaro scolded them for the failure of the photo shoot, she was sad, guys I think it's not long before the legendary Tae wakes up.
The next episode the girls will have a concert in the Saga Rock and apparently that day will rain for what is seen in the preview, what will happen with Ai and Junko?
Can they achieve the duet they were practicing and resolve their differences?

Drama oriented episode, but I didn't mind it (in fact, I liked it a lot), because we finally learned how Junko and Ai died, as well as how their views of idols clashes due both being raised in different generations. Both of their deaths were pretty brutal, but gotta admit Ai went out in a very... epic way. Felt pretty bad for both through the episode :'( Hope next episode they reconcile and Franchouchou can keep going strong.

I was glad to see one of the metalheads of the two previous episodes in the photo session. I'm happy to see the show didn't forget about them, since they were the first non-official fans of Franchouchou (when they were not even officially inaugurated).

Btw, I will never get over how Mappa hired a top tier voice actress like Kotono Mitsuishi just to make autistic noises and chicken's cackles. Those guys are madlads.

on one hand i appreciate they give us a little background on how they died (i agree with Saki that Ai's was pretty legendary) but on the other hand....it feels like episodes centered around Ai and Junko's drama brings the down show a whole lot.

epic episode and genius series!
cliff hanger tho :C have to wait a loooooooooong week now.
And this drama is so intense already even if u just know the backgfround of 3 of the 7 main chacters! I am very intrested in the next episode since not just for the drama (outdoor concert + rain n shit) but also i wanna know how the makeup will hold in rain.

(question tho: is it normal that idol bands perform at rock festivals ?)

Yeah. At first, I thought the show would be focused on Sakura's partnership with Saki or Junko, but it looks like the show has already forgotten about the other girls.

You see, the image of Kotaro bathing is symbolic of the need to cleanse. By cleansing ourselves, we remove our bodies of impurity or unwanted gunk. This is further backed up by the imagery of rain, commonly associated with cleansing. Notice how water is like kryptonite to the girls. We also have the internet and Yuugiri's confusion. This symbolic of their early confusion when they were 'brought to their senses', they may have been alive back then (in a sense) but they were still oblivious to their external stimuli. Note how Tae's roosting has riled up the crowd, as they cock a doodle doo with her in unison. This is foreshadowing to an inevitable plot point, which drives home that no matter who we are, zombie, special or both, as long as we have charm, the populace will accept us.

If you couldn't tell, this opening is a homage to Silent Hill's symbolism.
So I am finally watching an idol show, and neither am I cringing nor do I show any dislike towards the show. Not bad. So a little run down:

  • Opening girl gets axed
  • She wakes up and turns into a zombie and almost got shot, Racoon city style!
  • She gets roped into an idol group OF THE DEAD! Seriously, do you see THIS as idol material?

First your SOUL, next the Billboard Top 100!!
  • Kotaro: Best husbando
  • Best Girl? Trick question, they're ALL best girls!! But Yuugiri and Tae gets a special spot.

So we get as we were promised, a more sentimental and dramatic episode in contrast to the last one. We delve into the friction inside....Franchouchou, and finally answer how Ai and Junko died. For those of you wondering, I was asking that question all the through. Oddly enough, though they have had their schisms both of them died the same way. I mean look at it, a girl gets axed by the SKY, one of them tired of their idol life, while the other literally went out in a BLAZE OF GLORY!! JEEBUS! Hilarious as it was, in real life, their body would've been nightmare fuel!

It's even foreshadowed in their character design; Junko's body is part scorched black, like she was burned in jet fuel, and Ai is mostly covered in bandages, almost as though she was recovering from 1st degree burns. It's details and stuff like this that really reels me in to this show, I really like this concept, and the best part is, they actually utilized it.

Fun fact: notice how Yuugiri has a red slit around her neck and she was around the same time the Meiji period was about to begin. No surprise how she got killed.
And the dog, Romero is named after George Romero, who was a pioneer of the zombie genre in film, for those of you who were unaware. (Seriously, you didn't catch that? Then why are you reading this bit?)

Note that both Ai's and Junko's death were related to the sky, as though some sort of divine hand was responsible for their untimely demise. This is symbolic of the diviity's disdain for hubris and how they perceive idol culture as...Wait a minute, if I apply the theory that God is a part of all of us, and we are not really the biggest fan of idol anime (unless their name is Macross) then....

OH MY GOD! WE KILLED AI AND JUNKO!! WHAT HAVE WE DONE?!

The deaths of Junko and Ai are very tragic :( I am curious about the other four girls's death... These are my bets (based on scars):
- Saki Nikkaido -> Got hit hard by a object?
- Lili Hoshikawa -> Heart Attack.
- Yuugiri -> Killed by a samurai.
- Tae Yamada -> Maybe drug addict? Not sure...

im glad im not the only one. its like do we really need the same two girls and their “im too good for this” attitudes start the drama twice in a row? assuming Tae is saved for last, the only other person im interested about is samurai era girl....whose name i already forgot because the attention were all on Ai and Junko in half a season

other than Ai and Junko, all of them are pretty much inexperienced in idol business. so for me it’s normal to have half of the spotlight on them. what is idol anime without good old-fashioned fights between members huh

the thing is, how would her old teammates react, probably all of them know that Ai can’t be saved with that lightning strike

i just need more story with Yuugiri and Sakura now

Lmao I can't help but laugh at how Ai did. Not only did she get OBLITERATED by a massive lightning strike, but it was in front of a huge audience during a performance. Now I'm not expert in getting struck by lightning, but I doubt you would turn completely black and be standing in the same position. Good stuff.

Now we have some conflict between the previous idols due to how the industry was different in their eras. It kinda makes sense. Something will be resolved next episode, and looks like they will be wearing the outfits from the intro which is pretty cool.

6th episode, Ai-chan death segment:

Was that video part of the tour when Ai died? It makes sense; in this episode it is also said (on the computer screen) that Ai-chan died 10 years ago, so it must be close in time to Sakura's death.

Creepy thoughts are coming to my mind...

Yes, people who were struck by lightning do feel a certain amount of pain, mostly from the burn it causes on their skin, but then again, they almost never remember anything, their heart gets fibrillated and stops working on the spot so they are left unconcious literally at the speed of light.

On that subject, looking at all the weird skin .. graft-like patches, I was assuming Junko had died from an extensive burn, would have never guessed, turns out it was Ai the one who died from the burn instead.

Now the concubine obviously died from beheading (jigai would have been too messy for that scar), the biker died from an accident on a bike most likely, and the loli .. I'm kinda betting that she had a congenital heart condition and died from that .. judging by the size of that heart.

Now the real enigma is Taeko.

Junko and Ai are at it again, at the center of the problem to the group.

It might be insensitive but damn! Did Ai die in an epic way, that pose though! Anyways I hope they wrap that squabble soon because they'll have to perform.

They should also focus to other characters though.
