THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- This twin tailed girl is kinda annoying... Best part of the episode imo is when Honey came to save her while making an epic scene with that motorcycle. What a moment! |

Pretty entertaining episode but the show feels a bit stiff compared to the other honey adaptations, but its quite soon to judge just based on the third episode. |

I think I like the opening now. Somehow this episode felt even more retro than the first two. Not hating it. |

I love the old school Go Nagai's humor, is always so charming. The second half of the episode had some quality problems, but who cares, It was funny was fuck xD |

Pretty sure this series is made to make fun of yuri and mahou shoujo. It all makes sense now. |

Cutey Honey is the Mahou Shoujo trope maker xD She can't laugh at a genre that hadn't yet been made. Is more like making fun of Toku shows. About Yuri... just Go Nagai being Go Nagai haha. |

Nice episode, too bad there isn't more yuri. Info about the 70 Cutey Honey below. I actually thought that they would kill off Nat-chan like in the original Cutey Honey |

Watches a magical girl anime. Wants the full force of the Eclipse to be unbleached upon the world. Pick one. It's not freaking Madoka you're watching. |

That was an episode? I feel like I blinked and missed it. The tone is still really serious, most of the comedy didn't really seem that entertaining aside from that 'we're faking typing' joke and so much of it is dedicated to just, nothing happening in the department store and a fight scene so short they preemptively skipped over it. I really feel like i'm just missing something here. Next episode is gonna be make or break for me, I really hoped i'd enjoy this show... |

dc22 said: I don't want something dark necessarily, just some goddamn quality. Might as well watch Re: Cutey Honey instead. Well, if that doesn't cut it for you. Personally I feel like it's both good looking for it's art style and animation. I don't mind something that looks like it's from the 70 or 80's with a decent animation. And Obviously I'm going to compare it to Crybaby again but the story sure was nice and likely nicer than CHU for my personal tastes but the art style almost made me drop the whole thing. I wouldn't be so eager to drop this one because the story line might get way more interesting after the 2 or 3 episodes usually needed for exposition. Though I'm well aware we're post Evangelion crisis and that no amount of nice anime will ever save... Bla bla bla... But just remember episode 10 of Made in Abyss. I think an anime like that can still pull a few nice cards form it's sleeve. |

At least Nat isn't as dumb as most of the other characters, she realises something is suspicious of Genet, but this will likely not go anywhere any time soon! XD |

This was my favorite episode and I do like Nat-chan as a character, lets hope she doesn't meet the same fate as the original. Ugh, you are one of "those" people.... how the hell can anyone come in here expecting Crybaby I'll never understand. |

Well, I can honestly say that I am so done with this show. Never has an episode annoyed me so much that I wanted to constantly do time skips. I guess it would be nostalgic for people who like Go Nagai's works. But my goodness was this show unbearable. Not to mention, I could not get over some of the character designs here. Sure, the villains have that whole Devilman look which is pretty neat. But that doesn't really help if I'm not even a least bit entertained. I am done. It's not my place to fully tear apart this show since I have yet to complete it but fair is fair, I gave it 3 episodes and now I feel like beating myself for even considering that. ^_^ |

Hmm...I like this episode a lot. I wonder what that White Rose means. It is interesting symbolism. Also I think Nat-chan is a cute airhead who lowkey is pretty smart. She didn't tell Genet(Jill) that she knew about Honey's secret life. She als owas slowly putting it together. On a sidenote, Jill is so fucking tall my dude. I am loving this show. |

Go Nagai didn't make Cutie Honey Universe nor did he make Devilman Crybaby. They're all adaptations of his manga he wrote over 40 years ago. And when I say adaptation, I'm being generous. Universe shares many characters with the og cutie honey manga, but the plot is heading in a completely new direction. Crybaby also had a list of changes as well that had nothing to do with the og devilman manga. All Nagai did was provide the ingredients for the cooks (anime directors, producers, designers etc) to make something new out of his material every decade or so. Some made a bad meal and some made a good meal. No cook is forced to stick to Nagai's original vision and neither of these adaptations are in any case. |

I do know the person behind Cutie Honey made Devilman Crybaby and Magnzier Z. MasterHavik said: Eugenefindit said: That's fine. Glad you gave it a shot. I'm loving it myself. ^_^ Thanks for understanding. You a fan of Go Nagai's works? ^_^ Oh really? The only show I know Reed has made was Smartphone and yeah that one was iffy I guess. At least Universe keep the Cutey Honey feeling, comedy, basic plot and art. I can't say the same think for crybaby... Devilman crybaby was disappointed to me. Yuasa cooked something bittersweet ... |

I'm only saying this because I saw a dumb comment about how RE:Cutie Honey updated on Go Nagai while this one is outdated Go Nagai which is why it's not good. Of course it's a way to denigrate the man's work but little did they realise that all these adaptations for all these years were only other people adapting the stuff he did decades back. Cutie Honey Universe is no Imaishi / Gainax but it still has talent. It has Shuichi Iseki acting as the animation director, who co-created Me!Me!Me! music video which I'm sure many are familiar with, and Akitoshi Yokoyama who did the Ultraman short. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84a2xI-X4kQ Most of the complaints seem to be that it broke tradition. I personally thought this was a good episode since it gave characterization to the bullies that even the OG manga didn't do, so this is a clear step up. Nacchan realising that she's been played is also a nice touch. She could connect the dots and highly suspect Genet. This double hero trope has been played before, even in other anime series / movies, but the characters usually buy the excuse for the hero's disappearance, but not this time (also a villain now). It's realistic. |

1st half was painfully slow maybe that twintail's just boring. 2nd part was good with the short fight & rose plot. |

This toyed with the idea of Gennet being evil so lightly it's as if it's a secret and it wasn't clear from episode 1 that it's just Sister Jill in disguise. It was obvious from the beginning that Jill is scheming against Honey with this disguise and I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop so watching it coyly brush against the idea is tedious. |
