| This is so adorable! I wish we could drop the "It looks so erotic when you're eating"-thing, and stick with cute girls doing cute things instead. But I knew what I was in for and it was so cute that it didn't bother me too much. I love how she wants to cook as good as her grandmother! | I don't understand the most comments here. There was almost nothing SHAFT-typical in this episode. Could have been very well done by any other studio. Episode was ok, nothing special. Chibis singing in the end was the highlight for me. I'll probably drop this after some episodes, I'm afraid. |
| It was nice and somehow heartwarming in the end but still can't say what this will be about just yet, maybe they wanted to do Hidamari-like anime again? So far it was a bit boring also but I hope that with other girls joining the group the show gains its much needed momentum. |
| Calming episode. I was eating lunch while I watched it, and it made the food taste a lot better than it would if I ate in silence. I'm honestly surprised this anime is pretty much void of any SHAFT puke (headtilts, awkward scenery, etc). And I can say I like it this way, it's much better than what Nisekoi and Mekaku were. Ryou is my favorite so far, I really like her voice and how calm she is. It puts me at ease. Can't wait for next week's episode. |

| aw, so cute. although there are many shows similar i like torturing myself with anime that includes decadent treats through out it. i laughed so hard with they said the MC ate erotically. lmao. i have a feeling i will need to be eating a meal everytime i watch. i enjoyed the end theme as well but not so much the opening but i usually skip that shit anyways. ;) |

Start very generic, but also funny and well done, with designs more than decent talking about quality; the soundtrack was not bad as catchiness. I hope to come out a beautiful anime setting SOL, culinary theme. |

| 10/10 waifu material. Shaft is very clever with how they handle this shit. In an era where every anime is finding an excuse to show stupid blatant fan service (pantsu/boobs/w.e) they keep it free of that shit but they still add a little bit of spice (dat lips scene). Loved the atmosphere, characters and the setting. Relaxing comedy/slice of life. Kinda like Hidamari Sketch but with food instead :3 Also I got hungry watching this :S |

I just bought the following from Amazon: Akai Kitsune Udon (Instant Udon Noodle) Kikkoman - Aji-Mirin (Sweet Cooking Rice Wine) Kirkland Signature Ito En Matcha Blend (Green Tea) Shirakiku Inarizushi No Moto (Fried Bean Curd) The rest of the ingredients (rice, tofu, soy sauce, cabbage, ginger, and sugar) can be obtained from my local supermarket, I believe. This episode featured an easy-to-prepare dish and dessert. I have a feeling things will get more complex as the show progresses. |

| I am surprised that they are not posting the recipes on their official website. I enjoy this as "Cute Girls Doing Cute Things". In terms of production values, this looks likes the best CGDCT in the past year. But I don't mean that it is 100% CGDCT because of the other major genre elements such as ero-eating and of course cooking. |

| I confess that I am an SOL/CGDCT guy so I'm rather biased, but I found the art quite nice, the writing is clever, the voice acting nice to listen to, and the characters are endearing. The interaction between Kirin and Ryou was well-done. This show makes me bloody hungry! We actually had the infamous "Anime Cold" in the first episode. I like the way the characters never seem to understand the germ theory of disease. |
| I'm excited to watch another Studio Shaft production. There's always something about their design choices that I really like and to me it seems like this will be a very colorful and enjoyable series. I wonder how many episodes there will be. This girl can cook to save lives! <3 |

I am aware of the phenomenon that you are talking about, where a manga is transformed into a much more sexualized anime series. A great example is "Sabagebu!" ( さばげぶっ! /July 2014 ). Given that the manga was published in "Nakayoshi" (なかよし), it was officially a "shoujo" manga (少女漫画), i.e. aimed at girls of age 12, plus or minus. Manga "demographics" are an official "rating system" in Japan. (There is no equivalent rating system for anime, apparently.) "Nakayoshi" is aimed at girls in elementary school and middle school (読者対象:小中学生の少女). When they adapted "Sabagebu!" into the anime series, it was clearly no longer aimed at 12-year-old girls. I can only imagine the horror of many young girls who had been fans of the manga watching the TV series and having nightmares afterwards. I don't want to even try to describe the changes that were made. For this series, the manga is officially rated as "seinen" (青年漫画). That category allows for much more mature content. Just now, I have been looking carefully at the manga and comparing it to scenes from Episode 1. I sincerely don't think that SHAFT has boosted the sexuality level. The suggestive eating is in the manga, but not on every page. The bra sizes and skirt lengths appear to be about the same, and I haven't seen any fanservice or Ecchi either in the manga or the anime. I am just guessing here, but I think that SHAFT made a careful business calculation that the primary audience of this anime would include a lot of viewers who would be turned off by fanservice and Ecchi. |
