| The character design is so similar to Mushishi, with the squared jaws and wide lips. :S Not to mention Yaichi kinda looks like Ginko... On the other hand, this episode managed to transport me to another world, so I'm hooked, for now. |
| One of the show that get me in because of the Opening music! AS USUAL, nothing to comment on episode 1 yet, I get a fair warning from my anime buddies that this show is really slow pacing. |

| Damn, great OP song. It's very catchy imo. Artwork looks natural enough I guess. The character designs looks a bit strange though, more like into the Edo period. Loved the atmosphere and smoothness of the episode though. |

| Mmm, that look promising. The art style kinda destabilized me for while, but I think it's grewing on me. Yakuza story are always interresting and can be funny. That Yaishi look cool. Because of Gintama, I can't hear ''De gozaru'' without laughing xD |

| Wow this is amazing, it feels so good, and 20 minutes passed by so quickly. I love everything about it, so far so good. :) Edit: As for people speaking about the slow pacing, lol it's great to watch this back to back with Texhnolyze, another really slow pace, but heavier mood and more depressing kind of anime. |

| I liked it, but I wasn't crazy about it. I think this sort of Robin Hood like story line with a Samurai joining them could be pretty interesting, though. So, we'll see where it goes. |

| Interesting concept, It'll be cool to see what kind of jobs they carry out as kidnappers. The main character seems like Shinji, but not as realistic as him. |

| I'm not even sure what led me to picking this up, but it certainly has an atmosphere that drew me in immediately. It's reminiscent of Mushishi's artsy nature and the character designs reminded me of Ristorante Paradiso (same creator, go figure). Yaichi is cool, I just like his nonchalant attitude. "I don't mind getting a drink with you but I don't have time for this bullshit fight." It's also interesting to hear a new side of Namikawa Daisuke, certainly shows how versatile he is. |

| The art style is a bit weirder than I thought it'd be and the animation of the scuffle with the bodyguards looked awkward. It was an alright episode but I just hope the MC fixes his personality issue over time. So dam cringey. |

| And the prize for "most incongruous opening theme" goes to... Saraiya Goyou! Seriously, it kind of sabotages the whole realistic edo Japan vibe they seem to be going for. A very slow episode, took me a while to realise who's who and I'm not sure the subs on my DVD were much good, I'm downloadng some fansubs to see if there's much difference. But it seems promising, samurai always have been and will continue to be the coolest warriors East of Suez, with the Gurkhas a close second. Considering how iconic samurai are I'm suprised they aren't more common in anime. The artstyles seems to be marmite but I definitely fall into the "not a fan" category. Top tip: if you have to tell the audience that a woman is hot, you should probably work on your animation skills! |

| Goddamn the character designs are beautifully adapted from the manga as expected from Nakazawa. Excellent use of atmosphere and a laid back tone, based on the director's previous works, he seems to specialize in these aspects and it completely shows here. As for the episode, it's just used to set up the main characters and the surrounding world and it did a really good job in that department and we got some great backgrounds to accompany. |
