it has everything. excellent characters and development. hype moments, sad moments, music, fight scenes, plot, and an ending that paid off. nothing was ever really left behind except more time for the protagonists to shine in the earlier episodes as well as scars brother. these three characters are much more amazing then they are portrayed in the anime given their feats but we never really saw the full extent of how actually talented ed, al, and scars brother were compared to standard state alchemist. scars brother especially deserves a movie at least that man was a genius R.I.P.

baseline example of light novel syndrome. anime and light novels are a very different form of media and putting in every line of dialogue into the anime from the novel doesn't make it more faithful to the material, it just makes an animated light novel that doesn't take advantage of the anime form of media. it doesn't bring the authors vision of the novel to screens. it makes a boring, tedious anime to watch where as a viewer i notice that most of the anime is conversation, scene change, characters in the same positions just somewhere else, more dialogue, one action, more fucking dialogue. its a headache to watch and disrespects my time.

treating the entirety of AOT as one. Top 2 anime of all time. This anime is insane in a way that isn't comparable to other anime I gave 10/10, even Vinland Saga, Berserk, and HXH were not this fucked up in the way that AOT was. The only issue I have is I wish Armin, Annie, and Hange had more time to develop and just generally more screen time as they're my favorite characters and sometimes they felt a bit hollow, especially Annie who don't get me wrong, has motivation but wasn't explored in depth. The best way to put it is they are characters who have a lot more depth to them in their actions and dialogue then was showcased in their story and background. Regardless this is nitpicking at this point which shows how little room there is to argue or make a case that this show is bad in anyway. Whatever criteria you have for what makes a good show AOT checks all of the boxes and then some.
