Synopsis

After many trials and tribulations, Iruma Suzuki is finally happily living among demons despite having to hide his true identity as a human. Even more so, he has now found his ambition in life: keep ranking up in this world!

However, that plan is halted when Iruma's club is temporarily dismissed, and he is forced to be part of the student council, known for its strictness toward rowdy students. Its cold-hearted president is Amelie Azazel, Iruma's friend. Although Iruma is not used to following their rigid schedule and many rules, he still wants to prove himself and help Amelie alongside all of the other members of the council.

But trouble arises when Amelie's personality completely changes due to strange circumstances, putting the student council's reputation in jeopardy. Will Iruma be able to save them and avoid having the whole school turn into pure chaos?

Can an anime series without fan service and an edgy and overpowered MC score a perfect 10? YES. Look no further, this is the one.

The jokes are actually funny without being sleazy, the characters are very likeable, and the plot wholesome without being boring. It gives us what we want and in just the right amount. And yes, thank you, and I mean it, for giving us an MC who is not OP or sleazy or edgy for once. Thank you.

I dropped this show for some unknown reason and I am just so glad that I picked it back up.

Welcome to demon school Iruma is a show that is carried by its characters and it treats each and every character with serious TLC. Sorry, Mairimashita! Iruma-kun's second season just fails to build off the momentum of the first season.
I will say, though, the aesthetic is still great. I love the colorful demon school and the way the show pop outs while using a demon/underworld themed style as well. Other than that, though, the quality of the show dropped like crazy.
Mairimashita! Iruma-kun fails to choose an identity, and it feels like it's always clashing with it's desire to be a comedic show, only to be immediately followed up with an attempt to have a serious fight arc and characterization arcs. Rather than succeeding in either theme, it really ... just executes both very poorly. When I can draw parallels from Iruma-kun to Naruto, you really got a problem. When Iruma's "serious" arc is about him gathering his resolve to protect his friends, I can't take it too seriously. Mairimashita! Iruma-kun just executes the same shounen tropes done a million times to death. Iruma suddenly finds himself in a dangerous situation, and he saves the day "recklessly" fighting against a being that seemingly is of much higher level than he is but is able to defeat it anyway with a crazy powerup and through the power of friendship. Iruma has plot armor like no other.
There's no real buildup for the serious arcs, either. I'll use Walter Park as an example. It initially starts off as a fun, lighthearted slice of life sort of activity before immediately changing to a serious fight arc with monsters spawning an destroying the park. Even in a series like Gintama, where jokes are ubiquitous, there's still a lead up, exposition, and dialogue that culminates into an epic fight with all of the characters of interest coming into one place. Iruma-kun kind of just plops it in a middle of a lighthearted scene in order to get some epic fights going.
Look, I don't actually think the characters are bad. They're really fun, and they suit the comedic style that the author tries to go for half the time. Actually, they could have even fit a more serious shounen arc as well. There were glimmers of hope here and there amongst the dull fight scenes, like Jazz and his group fighting and actually fitting the role. It's just that the story sucks, and it does not try to build off the characters. Like, Walter Park is such a bad arc in the way it transitions from a comedic to serious story arc. It's lazy, too. Again, there's no buildup, there's not much of a reason for Iruma and his crew to be there other than pure coincidence. Iruma's just forcefully put in a stressful situation to make him do something serious. Something bad had to happen right in front of his eyes and he had to step in and solve it. Plus, the fighting animation is not great. It's more of a slideshow than anything, and there' no real good fight choreography, either. All this points to me wondering why the hell is there so much fighting and character development in a show mean to be comedic in nature.
Anyways, the comedy is a bit better than the story, but it's not that great. Since the story's focus is split into two, the comedic effect also drops by at least half. In fact, even in the lighthearted arcs, like with the Student council president, it wasn't that funny, and it was more slice of life and character development than anything else. I was kind of excited for the evil cycle Iruma-kun arc, but that ended up having a lame beginning and conclusion. There are a few one shot arcs that are only half and episode or a full episode that were genuinely funn,y, but in order for me to get to that point, I had to get through so much garbage.
It's just a shame that Mairimashita! Iruma-kun decided to go with a mediocre shounen plot with an lucky MC whose personality consists of wanting to protect his friends, and him magically getting past any situation due to his plot armor.
