Synopsis

Thirty years ago, a new race of flame-wielding mutants suddenly appeared, destroying a large portion of humanity. These so-called “Burnish” have continued to appear at random, leaving a trail of death and destruction in their wake.

The autonomous republic of Promepolis is a thriving nation thanks to the incredible efforts of their leader, Kray Foresight, against the Burnish. A team of firefighters known as the Burning Rescue is tasked with stopping these horrifying monsters, using the most performant technology available thanks to their incredible mechanic Lucia Fex. Galo Thymos is an energetic young man, who considers Foresight his hero for saving his life and is the rescue team's most recent recruit.

A terrorist group calling themselves Mad Burnish has been causing havoc all over the nation. After an encounter with Mad Burnish leader Lio Fotia, Galo sets out on his fated journey to find the truth about these mutants, ultimately leading him to question everything he previously held to be true.

I feel this one's a bit underrated. It's basically a pure fusion of Fire Force and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, and though it doesn't match the latter (how could it in the runtime of a movie?), it vastly exceeds the former. Lot of slick animation, some of the best animation stills I've ever seen, knows when and how to be dumb as hell and still make itself endearing. It's predictable, I didn't love the villain, and they did very little to develop most of the side characters, but damn if it wasn't a great time to watch. It's such a roller coaster of a movie ...

Mixed Feelings
The writing and plot is very predictable and brings nothing new or exciting to the table for me. The visuals are clearly the highlight of this movie. The characters have the bare minimum of depth, however the writing doesn't convince me to care about them too much as their characterization is cliché at best (which can be expected from anime, superficial archetypes are just not my thing). If you are one to enjoy typical anime archetypes and a conventional, simplistic narrative, you will probably enjoy Promare. Definitely a good movie to put on whilst working on something else, to serve as background noise and pleasing ...

Not sure what was the story about. There is a little to no respect to plot. I thought it was an action anime at first with some fun story but it ended up as a mech yaoi anime. I think it's better that you guys skip this anime. It is just an anime with cool effects and animations. Nothing more than that. Feels like the studio was experimenting with the animation and style.

5/10

I was able to watch it over the course of 2 days. Plus the length of the movie is too long. Predictable ending, no character development. Boring.
