Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon

As Kobayashi sets off for another day at work, she opens her apartment door only to be met by an unusually frightening sight—the head of a dragon, staring at her from across the balcony. The dragon immediately transforms into a cute, busty, and energetic young girl dressed in a maid outfit, introducing herself as Tooru.

It turns out that the stoic programmer had come across the dragon the previous night on a drunken excursion to the mountains, and since the mythical beast had nowhere else to go, she had offered the creature a place to stay in her home. Thus, Tooru had arrived to cash in on the offer, ready to repay her savior's kindness by working as her personal maidservant. Though deeply regretful of her words and hesitant to follow through on her promise, a mix of guilt and Tooru's incredible dragon abilities convinces Kobayashi to take the girl in.

Despite being extremely efficient at her job, the maid's unorthodox methods of housekeeping often end up horrifying Kobayashi and at times bring more trouble than help. Furthermore, the circumstances behind the dragon's arrival on Earth seem to be much more complicated than at first glance, as Tooru bears some heavy emotions and painful memories. To top it all off, Tooru's presence ends up attracting several other mythical beings to her new home, bringing in a host of eccentric personalities. Although Kobayashi makes her best effort to handle the crazy situation that she has found herself in, nothing has prepared her for this new life with a dragon maid.

Loved the anime finished in 1 day this was my first Yuri anime even though its softcore and ig i can't watch yuri on an higher level than this but i gotta say i loved this anime it felt so cozy and happy to watch every episode was enjoyable and fun and the concept was kinda new and cool for me atleast gonna watch s2 and movies soon atp s3 has no announcment but hopes for S3 also cus hell yeah i loved this anime so much <3

Miss Kobayashi being the cool person in the whole show was so fun to watch !

Mixed Feelings

This show is really about Kyoto Ani using their usual skills, with incredible artistic storytelling to elevate a trash fetish work to be as wonderful and good hearted as it can be. There is a perfect story about found family and love in the midst of this, as well as appreciation for peace and leisure. The problem is, they chose a trash fetish work to faithfully adapt, and they also leaned into the fetish because it gets engagement for their business.

It teaches the porn addicts to appreciate life, and it also tries to get normal people to accept these disgusting fetishes. Empathy and love is ... important and healing, but this series will always be objectifying and creepy. They are flawed and not perfect. In this corrupted and exploitative industry, this kind of show will easily get popular and earn their money for other projects too.

It's such a shame that a notably progressive and women supporting studio in the usually patriarchal and misogynistic society of Japan has to follow demand and draw balloon boobs. It's even worse in season 2. They're just a business, they have their biases and must stick with the times.

This anime drained me so much, it was the catalyst of my 4 month burnout.

I was initially excited to watch a nice cozy slice of life anime, as the description suggested. It was so highly recommended online, plus it has good reviews on here, so I figured it would be a solid watch.

The premise is simple, and what follows is a string of cute antics as dragons try to fit into human society. But the problem is the show leans SO HARD into gimmicks and fanservice instead of going into what could’ve been a genuinely warm and character driven story. Every time the ... anime tries to hint at something deeper, it immediately reverts to awkward boob jokes or dramatized reactions. Plus the random ‘quirkiness’ that does not land.

I usually really like light hearted and slice of life shows, but this was just exhausting. It was trying way too hard, and the fan service was so out of place and uncomfortable. It completely ruined what could have been a cozy and feel-good anime. Definitely not for me.

Story: 4/10 — Shallow and overpowered by gimmicks
Animation: 6/10 — Kyoto Animation delivered decent visuals and smooth motion
Characters: 4/10 — Archetypes with wasted potential. A few charming moments, but nothing lasting.
Pacing: 4/10 — Starts off fine but quickly becomes repetitive and draining to watch.
Overall: 4/10 — Visually okay but extremely hollow and awkwardly sexualized
