Synopsis

Chiyo Sakura is a cheerful high school girl who has fallen head over heels for the oblivious Umetarou Nozaki. Much to Chiyo's confusion, when she confesses to her beloved Nozaki, he hands her an unfamiliar autograph. As it turns out, the stoic teenage boy is actually a respected shoujo manga artist, publishing under the pen name Sakiko Yumeno! A series of misunderstandings leads to Chiyo becoming one of Nozaki's manga assistants.

Throughout the hilarious events that ensue, she befriends many of her quirky schoolmates, including her seemingly shameless fellow assistant, Mikoto Mikoshiba, and the "Prince of the School," Yuu Kashima. Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun follows Chiyo as she strives to help Nozaki with his manga and hopes that he will eventually notice her feelings.

Masayuki Hori carries this show.

Let me tell you why.

Masayuki Hori, an extremely talented actor, is held back due to physical limitations which plague every short man: height. Hiro stands at 5 feet 4 inches tall. I, as another man of similarly dwarven stature (5'11'') understand the plight of the small Japanese man. We are brothers, despite not speaking the same language. We are brothers, despite living an ocean apart. We are brothers, despite the fact he is confined to the 2-dimensional realm and I dwell in this this 3-dimensional landscape.

All in all, this anime is for the thinking (short) man. Thank you. The romance was ...

Mixed Feelings
Both a great and difficult series. Great characters, mediocre romance & an ending that is meant to get you to go to the manga.

- Firstly, I marked mixed because it may not be to everyone's taste, as it's not necessarily a romance anime in the traditional sense. So think about that before starting the anime. -

It's hard to explain, this show doesn't do fan-service and dumb drama, but it fails at actually ending the arcs in the anime. This is entirely made to have the viewer go to the manga to finish the story, or have another season, but assuming this came out in 2014, ...

Alright, my first mediocre review! A couple spoilers btw

This show has an interesting concept but is ultimately held down. The entire length of the show is spent introducing characters that save the show from utter annihilation as all of the "side main" characters are very interesting and fun, and each are related and represented as a personality from a manga. What holds this show down is that the entirety is introduction, there's absolutely zero progression throughout the entirety of it making you feel inevitably bored. On top of that the two main characters Nozaki and Chiyo are so boring my brain felt like it fell ...
