Manga 'Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete' Gets TV Anime

Manga author Akihiro Ononaka announced on Twitter that their Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete (Gushing over Magical Girls) manga is receiving a television anime adaptation.

Ononoka began drawing the comedy fantasy manga on the Manga Life STORIA Dash website in March 2019. The manga was also serialized in the Manga Life STORIA magazine before it suspended its publication in July of the same year. Takeshobo shipped the ninth volume on March 16.

J-Novel Club licensed the manga in English for digital release in March 2022. The fifth volume went on sale on February 20, and the sixth volume is set for a May 31 release.

Synopsis
Hiiragi Utena has always looked up to magical girls and fantasized about transforming into a cool heroine who fights evil. So, when a doll-like figure approaches her one evening, claiming that she has magical power lying dormant within, she trembles in excitement. But her colorful dream is quickly shattered in an ironic turn of events when she transforms into a villain!

Disinterested in associating with the forces of evil, she tries to quit when a group of magical girls appear and declare war. A battle ensues and Hiiragi soon discovers that she enjoys inflicting pain on others as her true nature starts to emerge.

Mahou Shoujo ni Akogarete follows Hiiragi as she begins her new life as the leader of villains, fighting against magical girls and indulging in her newfound sadistic nature to her heart's content. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

I'm not a fan of BDSM, but I'll definitely check this out (coz it's yuri, so yep).

It's one of those series that sound absolutely terrible when you try to describe it, but if you actually read/watch it, is just incredibly fun and very enjoyable. Although probably not everyone's taste indeed. :D

Haven't read the manga but when searching for it I get 10202 million pictures of lesbians who are touching each other Hehehehehehe

Duuuuuuuuuuude I'm actually so excited for this to get an adaptation.

In all truth though, I hope they're able to do the art (namely the facial expressions) and the comedy justice. I've been surprised how well Ononaka-san has kept it up throughout the whole of publishing.

Vain jokes aside, interesting premise, nice art, seems worth pursuing. I've had low hopes seeing this year's announcements so far, let's see what this can do to change that.

I thought about giving it a try because of the interesting synopsis, but then I saw the associated tags: ecchi, nudity, fetish, explicit sex... sorry, no thanks.
