As a person who's into fat ladies this is obviously a 10/10, Best of the Year 2024 anime.

Was convinced that this was gonna be by A-Real, but nope, it's the first full anime for a studio that has only just been put onto Mal. Not gonna lie, that aspect has me both very intrigued and very concerned.

The fact that we're not only getting a anime for this at all, but the characters are actually on model with the manga designs is already a miracle. Passione level animation would have been the cherry on top, but it was always a pipedream and very unlikely. With that being said, what I just saw did not impress. It didn't necessarily massively disappoint either, but the animation is almost shockingly average. Some shots look quite good, like the shot in the thumbnail for the PV, but actual animation wise it reminds me of some of the more meh parts to MHA's animation with the whole panel-by-panel thing. Perhaps we've been getting spoiled in recent years with the all the well animated ecchi, got to have some more average ones now and then I guess.

Is the very average animation and stiffness the price to pay for getting on-model character designs? 🤔

Obviously visuals are not everything, so I'm sure that if the characters are endearing enough or if it's funny enough it'll still be a good watch.

@Ejrodiew Are you joking? Even if you don't have a thing for plus size women, the show still portrays them pretty nicely. It's definitely not a waifu bait show where all the female characters are extremely idealized, but it's also not a weird borderline hentai anime.

The concept alone is great. The trailer looks very promising. This się might be fun, haha.

This is going to be a solid contender for the most visually unappealing anime ever created.

@SevWren The comedy and quality in general of the manga was a little bit inconsistent but I think you will like this as long as you don't give after 3-4 episodes

@SevWren Well, technically it's a reverse isekai. The MC even talks about it at the beginning of the aforementioned trailer. But other than that it looks like just a fantasy version of Monster Girls.

@RobertBobert That was my impression too from the trailer. Wonder if it's just going to be "Yeah they're elves not from this world." and that's that regarding backstories.

Apr 18, 10:41 AM by SevWren

@SevWren I wouldn't even call it a reverse isekai, since in this universe the monster girls are fairly fully socialized into human society.

+1 Isekai Let's see how a show about overweight elves who love french fries goes.... Without having read the manga, hope it makes for a good comedy.
