The JoJoDay Stage special event announced an anime adaptation of the seventh part of Hirohiko Araki's JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken (JoJo's Bizarre Adventure) manga series, Steel Ball Run, on Saturday. Production company Warner Bros. Japan simultaneously opened an official website, revealing a teaser visual (pictured) and an announcement promo.
Steel Ball Run originally began in Weekly Shounen Jump in January 2004 as an unrelated story to the series. Following its transfer to Ultra Jump in April 2005, it became an official part, set in an alternate timeline. Shueisha published the manga in 24 volumes between May 2004 and June 2011, later compiling it into 16 volumes from February 2017 to January 2018.
The eighth part, JoJolion, ended in August 2021 in Ultra Jump after a ten-year run. Shueisha published the 27th and final volume in September that year.
The JoJoLands, the ninth part of the manga series, debuted in Ultra Jump in February 2023. Shueisha released the fifth and latest volume in December 2024.
David Production adapted the first six parts into anime series with the most recent, Stone Ocean, streaming in three installments on Netflix in December 2021, September 2022, and December 2022. VIZ Media released the anime on two Blu-ray volumes in January and September 2024.
VIZ Media published the first sixth manga parts physically in English in North America, with the first two volumes of Steel Ball Run planned for a May 27 and July 22 release.
Synopsis
In the American Old West, the world's greatest race is about to begin. Thousands line up in San Diego to travel over six thousand kilometers for a chance to win the grand prize of fifty million dollars. With the era of the horse reaching its end, contestants are allowed to use any kind of vehicle they wish. Competitors will have to endure grueling conditions, traveling up to a hundred kilometers a day through uncharted wastelands. The Steel Ball Run is truly a one-of-a-kind event.
The youthful Johnny Joestar, a crippled former horse racer, has come to San Diego to watch the start of the race. There he encounters Gyro Zeppeli, a racer with two steel balls at his waist instead of a gun. Johnny witnesses Gyro using one of his steel balls to unleash a fantastical power, compelling a man to fire his gun at himself during a duel. In the midst of the action, Johnny happens to touch the steel ball and feels a power surging through his legs, allowing him to stand up for the first time in two years. Vowing to find the secret of the steel balls, Johnny decides to compete in the race, and so begins his bizarre adventure across America on the Steel Ball Run. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
God please dont let Netflix fuck this over like they did stone ocean, this is an all timer. I do still fear the CGI horses everyone has been joking about for a decade.

Jizzy as you would call yourself because youre a dick The most butthurt award goes to you And clearly you havent watched that many shows thats why you cant determine if a show is unique or not Or maybe you're just a child who likes common stuffs where hero saves the day and guys gets all the girls. Sad taste you have there kid you came up to me in the first place making you look more like a kid who got slapped without me even knowing it and start crying about it to me
Can't believe this actually happened, because sometimes it felt like it won't. But yeah, I hope Netflix stays at least a mile away from anything related to this series this time.
I see people have a great opinion on part 7 manga so I'm hyped for this
@Agelastus Part 7 onward is when Araki starts to really flex his character writing, experimentation, and exploration of other genres instead of just being stand fights one after the other, now they are stand fights one after the other with like a chapter of other stuff in between. Jokes aside Part 7 is gonna be alot more adventurous and delve into who the characters are alot deeper than before, part 8 is more of a mystery, and part 9 is more about heists.
Basically from now on out jojo is gonna be at its most interesting and ambitious though not to say the old parts wont still be fan favs.

Once again reminding myself that I need to get around to watching the Jojo anime. Maybe this is what will get me to finally do it. Anyways I hope the anime only's enjoy best villain.
Finally! My favourite part is finally getting adapted! Now I'm curious about the cast. Hopefully, Shinichiro Miki will repise his role as Gyro at the very least.
