Super SUPER hyped for this, Science Saru has been hitting it off so well lately with the new Tatami Galaxy sequel and now this gorgeous freaking show. Beyond freaking hyped to see a new Yamada work.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I feel like it's mostly because of KyoAni not trying to adapt anime outside a certain type of anime. Most of the anime they make are basically adaptations of novels that are published under them. There's obviously exceptions to this but after what happened 2 years ago, they would like to cut down on that for now atleast. Also, isn't this the same reason why Hiroko Utsumi left Kyoani because she wanted to work more than just Free and do other adaptations and original anime?
. I don't know about Hiroko Utsumi. But almost agree with everything you said. And now with Yamada leave. There is a giant hole in kyoani that anyone can never be fill.
Giant hole? Really? Like I get Naoko Yamada was without a doubt a valuable asset/KyoAni staff member, that's undeniable but saying "there's a hole in KyoAni that no one can ever fill" is a bit over-exaggerating.

Looks like Naoko Yamada's out of Kyoani, huh? It's for the best, I guess.

Given her directorial talent, I'm interested in what she can do outside of Kyoani's limitations. After all, ex-Kyoani talent tends to deliver very well in other environments just like the ones who moved between Wit, MAPPA, and Lapin Track.

I haven't been this hyped for something for years, and to boot this completely came out of the blue . Not just the cast, the staff, but the story as well it is based on are extraordinary. I hope this will be something that finds its way into my favourites because that list hasn't seen anything new for years.

I couldn't be more excited that Naoko Yamada has created a new anime series that will be distributed to the world within two weeks.

And yet, I feel a bit of bittersweetness and sadness that from now on I won't be able to see any more of her works at KyoAni, especially the third season of Hibike the last episode of Kumiko Oumae.

WOW this might be one of the cases where both staff and VA cast go hand-in-hand to be like a S-tier team, but time will tell if the source material's any good to begin with. Because even with such high calibre people working on this, the source material's gonna make or break the show.

Still though, advance streaming in less than 2 weeks, I'm excited.

idk if it is just me, but some hype like this comes out, but turns out to be a little mid lol.

If this is the The Tale of the Heike, and judging by the names in the cast it is sure this is, I am looking forward to it. This looks something worth the waiting. The article didn't mention it but this anime is most likely based on the classic epic that tells the story of the Genpei war (and the events that had led to it) at the end of the XII. century.
Thanks for pointing this out, I'm even more excited to see this now

This is mildly bittersweet, yet super exciting. I'm glad Yamada took the choice of trying something new because honestly, this is a kind of show we probably wouldn't have been able to see at KyoAni, and she probably needed a fresh start anyway. I'm just incredibly glad she didn't stop directing altogether. And I wish her the best in her new endeavors :')

I have absolutely no words for how stacked this staff and cast is! I’m insanely excited

One of my favorite directors and one of my favorite studios, looking forward to it

Someone pointed it out to me, but Yuuki Aoi is in this too, and that's even more exciting, since she's my favorite voice actress

Hype levels all tye way up

Yamada Naoko-kantoku over at Science Saru? I’m full of questions right now! Freelance or a new challenge, whatever the case, I’m darn excited.

Script writer from VE and Ushio Kensuke in particular out of that stacked staff list, has gotten me particularly interested in this!

And boy, the cast list isn’t bad at all either.

Crazy stuff, this. Can’t wait for this!

This is gonna be a real gem....What a staff sheet, wow

Sep 3, 2021 6:04 AM by Tokoya

Nako Yamada at science saru? I wonder if she is moving to a different studio or going freelance?
