New 'Nanatsu no Taizai' TV Series in Production

It was announced at the end of Nanatsu no Taizai: Seisen no Shirushi's broadcast today that the Nanatsu no Taizai manga series will get a new TV series. The 43rd issue of Weekly Shounen Magazine, which will be released on September 21, 2016, will also announce it.

Nanatsu no Taizai has been serialized in Shounen Magazine since October 10, 2012 and is written by Nakaba Suzuki. The first anime series aired from October 2014 to March 2015 with two OVAs released in June and August 2015. A Seisen no Shirushi Special was aired for four episodes from this past August to September.

I'm starting to get the Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan) vibe from this wait for the second season in which there was a 4 year gap. I understand that there wasn't much source material available at the time after Nanatsu no Taizai S1 finished, so hopefully if not already then they should have a good amount of quality material to animate when Season 2 finally starts and hopefully they make the wait worthwhile with some quality animation.

Note: I don't actually read manga myself, I just found out about the info regarding source material while reading various comments around over a year ago, not long after Season 1 ended, waiting impatiently (which I still am) and looking around for information about when season 2 might be released so I don't know how far they have gotten yet in the manga.

I am predicting Season 2 will end up being released either Winter or NEXT Spring or maybe Summer(next year). If we're lucky maybe this Fall. I just hope we don't have to wait too long as I, just like many others wish to just be able to finally watch Nanatsu no Taizai Season 2.

What's this series like? It didn't look like it was much of note at first, but looking more closely now, my stats page for the original reveals quite a few decent to good scores, and now it's getting sequels.

Great!!! I was expecting a real second season, the manga is amazing so will be interesting to see the second season.

I think it's going to be 24 cuz just the prologue of the season was 4 episodes and thats pretty big...

Yes i'm so happy to hear this news!! Just re-watched season 1 and then caught up with the TV specials and I am just craving for more of this series! Hopefully we won't have to wait that long for this 2nd season! And I hope it'll be 20+ episodes, not the 12 episodes kind of season 2...

4-part series (or rather "4 eps. TV Special, not OVA) is original story by the mangaka that would connect to the possible sequel. It has just finished airing few hours ago, which this announcement was made.

Oh boy yes! I mean I wasn't the biggest fan of the first season due to the adaptation and how it went, but it was still nice. I can't wait being fairly honest XD

Hope they milk this one by adapting it slower than Season 1 now that they knew this series is a hit.
2-3 chapter per episode will do great.

Well that only if the new TV series they are talking about is indeed a Season 2 of the series.
