The Netflix Festival Japan 2021 event announced a two-part spin-off anime movie for Nakaba Suzuki's Nanatsu no Taizai (The Seven Deadly Sins) manga on Tuesday. The event also revealed the main staff and a teaser trailer.

The two-part movie, subtitled Ensa no Edinburgh (Grudge of Edinburgh), will feature an original story written by Suzuki, centering Meliodas's son, Tristan. The first part will premiere worldwide exclusively on Netflix in 2022.

Staff
Chief Director: Noriyuki Abe (Nanatsu no Taizai Movie: Tenkuu no Torawarebito)
Director: Bob Shirahata (Aguu: Tensai Ningyou)
Script: Rintarou Ikeda (Nanatsu no Taizai Movie 2: Hikari ni Norowareshi Mono-tachi)
Studio: Alfred Imageworks, Marvy Jack

The adventure fantasy manga began in Weekly Shounen Magazine in October 2012 and ended its seven and a half year run last March. Kodansha published the 41th and final volume last May. Nanatsu no Taizai has a cumulative 37 million copies of its compiled volumes in print.

A-1 Pictures adapted manga into a 24-episode television anime in Fall 2014, followed by the four-episode Seisen no Shirushi (Signs of Holy War) television special in Summer 2016. The second season, Imashime no Fukkatsu (Revival of the Commandments), aired in Winter 2018.

The Tenkuu no Torawarebito (Prisoners of the Sky) anime movie premiered in Japan in August 2018. Studio Deen produced the third season, Kamigami no Gekirin (Wrath of the Gods), in Fall 2019. The fourth season, Fundo no Shinpan, premiered in 24 episodes in Winter 2021. The second and latest movie in the franchise, Hikari ni Norowareshi Mono-tachi, opened in Japan on July 2 (pictured right).

Suzuki launched the Mokushiroku no Yonkishi (Four Knights of the Apocalypse) sequel manga in Weekly Shounen Magazine in on January 27, approximately ten months after concluding the main series. Kodansha published the third volume on September 17, with the fourth volume scheduled for release on November 17. Kodansha US is simulpublising the manga with the Japanese release.

Damn, Im kinda glad I dropped it when it got the bad animation, now this CGI thing is awful, Meliodas didnt derserve that, this is just the "get all the cash" like DBZ and Saint Seiya.

Just let it die already holy shit. I know I heard the story in the anime and manga went to heck but Nakaba doesn't deserve this. Damn.

Now I can confidently say that it's another Ex-Arm.

There's already a sequel manga going on, what's the point of making a spin-off revolving around Tristan anyway? They should make a huge loss doing this shit. Just give this pitiful franchise a rest...

It's actually extremely sad to witness how badly this series fell off.
No one hates anime more than anime fans.

I understand that Japanese audiences are different from Western audiences, but do the Japanese really like the show so much at the same time as they do so much hatred in the West? Also, why does the west hate it so much after season 3?

A lot of people hated it because of the change in animation studio. Even if the animation wasn't top-notch, I still thought the story was really good for season 3.

So many animation styles and they went with CGI? CGI needs to be banned, it's god freaking awful

Just let this series die. It became lackluster the moment it started bullshiting everything from season 2 onwards. Even the quality of the adaptation dropped (and it wasn't even that high to begin with).
Why does this thing still keep on getting new adaptations?

As much of a fan as I am of the sequel rn and how much I wanted to see Tristan and Lancelot in action, I'm disgusted that THIS is the style they decided to go with for this movie

If you're gonna do CG at least make it look good ffs

I don't follow the series but that.. does not look good.

just stop Netflix, pelase..... there's no need to constantly produce new stuff with tiny budgets and an even smaller production time. Quality over quantity damn it
"In the past few months since we met, I've shared many memories with Nagato. Though I've also shared memories with Haruhi, Asahina-san and Koizumi, I found that I've experienced more events with Nagato in particular. In fact, every situation seems to involve her. I might as well mention this, she's probably the only person to cause the bell within me to shake the most vigorously..." ~ Kyon, TMOSH

The new animation makes its close to being unwatchable....The last season was better but it's still nowhere near as good as it was in season 1

the manga it self has really steep sales decline over the years. people just isn't as much liked the franchise in general as it used to be. the issue is not solely just animation studio. the story it self also isn't well received

dunno. i guess the casual reader just simply drop it without much of thought (i am one too) . the latest volume of the sequel can't even pass 100K in oricon. it used to sold around 700K during it's peak.
