 An anime adaptation of Tomihiko Morimi's Yojouhan Time Machine Blues (The Tatami Time Machine Blues) novel, sequel to Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei (The Tatami Galaxy), was announced by Kadokawa on Thursday. Fuji TV's noitaminA programming block posted an announcement promo on its YouTube channel, revealing the main staff.Staff Director: Shingo Natsume (Sonny Boy, ACCA 13-ku Kansatsu-ka) Script: Makoto Ueda (Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei) Original Character Design: Yusuke Nakamura (Yoru wa Mijikashi Arukeyo Otome) Studio: Science SARU (Devilman: Crybaby, Eizouken ni wa Te wo Dasu na!) Synopsis Yojouhan Time Machine Blues takes place during a sweltering midsummer day when Ozu, the protagonist's "terrible friend," accidentally drowns the only remote control for the air conditioning unit in their apartment. While they discuss their predicament with Akashi, the protagonist's raven-haired love interest, a sloppily-dressed time-travelling student arrives from 25 years in the future, prompting the protagonist to borrow his time machine in an effort to snatch the remote control from the past before it breaks. The sequel novel was inspired by Makoto Ueda's 2001 stage play Summer Time Machine Blues. The stage play was adapted into a live-action film in September 2005. Madhouse produced an 11-episode television anime adaptation of the original Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei novel in Spring 2010, with Masaaki Yuasa (Ping Pong the Animation, Kaiba) at the helm. | I recently made a joke on a podcast that I do about how Tatami Galaxy is one of those elitist starter pack anime that little to no casual anime fan knows about, and here we are now looking at a sequel announcement for it lol Guess I finally have the incentive to watch this now after years of putting it off xD |
