 Square Enix announced an anime adaptation of its Subarashiki Kono Sekai (The World Ends with You) action role-playing game on Friday. More information regarding the anime will be revealed at the Anime Expo Lite event on July 3. Synopsis Neku Sakuraba, a 15-year-old boy with a hobby for music and graffiti, wakes up in what seems to be the Shibuya shopping district of Tokyo, Japan. With no idea why he's there, he opens his hand to realize he is holding a strange black pin. After flipping it with his hand, the thoughts of the people surrounding him begin to flow into his head at once. Surprised, Neku discovers he is able to read the minds of others and assumes it has something to do with the black pin he is holding. A cell phone starts to ring in his pocket, and he can't tell whether it is his or not. A text message appears: "Reach 104. You have 60 minutes. Fail, and face erasure. -The Reapers." After discovering he can't delete the message, a timer of 60 minutes imprints onto his right hand. Neku is in Shibuya to play the "Reapers' Game," which spans a total of seven days. All Players of the Reapers' Game have a black pin with a skull embedded on it. The game was released for iOS and Android platforms in August 2012 and June 2014, respectively. An enhanced port based on the mobile version for the Nintendo Switch console titled Subarashiki Kono Sekai: Final Remix was published in October 2018. | its funny how twewy is literally my favorite game of all time but ive never seen anyone ever call it "Subarashiki Kono Sekai". please get a really good anime studio. i dont want another a-1 pictures fiasco, but i'm not sure what studio could do such a highly stylized anime. Maybe lerche? |

| i loved playing this game on my ds and switch and i was hoping they would announce a sequel, but i'm still so zetta happy it's getting an anime. maybe it could get a new installment if it does well enough. |

| Been screaming about this since I was told earlier today. Always thought this would make a great anime - if given the proper attention and studio, of course. Hope the main cast returns too. Who knows, the sequel news might be come at the end of the anime season. I'd find it weird this game would get an adaptation 13 years after its initial release just because Square ~felt like it~. |
this is absolutely them drumming up hype for a sequel. or at the very least If the anime gets an english dub, I absolutely need the original cast back. As far as I'm aware, Shiki, Rhyme, Uzuki, and Yodai's VAs are the only ones still doing voice acting but they got everyone back for Dream Drop Distance so fingers crossed |

| TWEWY is one of my all-time favorite game. With a Switch port and now an anime announcement, here hoping for a sequel announcement next. It's becoming a lot more relevant now lately. |

TWEWY is a tight-knit game that you have to go out of your way to fuck up. I wonder if Nomura will have any input on the anime. Confirmed to be its Creative Producer And Character Designer. Sweet. |
