THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
First half of this episode was rather boring imo until the busines picked up against those monsters.

I feel like there's a certain level gap between some of these monsters compared to the MC. For one thing though, this series' designs gets more and more freaky looking especially that two headed monster.

Another cliffhangerish ending..

That two-headed monster looks interesting...1 female and 1 male, and of course, the female has exposed melons...

And it seems like Shuuichi's monster form is immortal from the looks of things... even if he's torn into pieces, it doesn't mean he's dead at all.

It seems like this episode has a lot of flashbacks. But among that I'm interested in Shuuichi's past, I think you already know that Shuuichi has killed people. Chihiro asked Shuuichi what kind of person he was? Shuuichi answered that he was a killer, but Chihiro did not believe that Shuuichi was a killer.

In the forest it seems like they met with Kurea's older sister Erena, Chihiro who felt his presence advised Shuuichi to run away, but Shuuichi refused and said he would save Chihiro, even though Chihiro cried out of fear.

and it also appears that Kurea is continuing the discussion. The fight was inevitable, now Shuuichi will fight the young blonde hair (I forget his name) The fight was very exciting, but it seemed that at the end Shuuichi would win the match, but Erena's arrival made their fight stop.

Although Shuuichi and Yoshioka were badly crushed like a rag, somehow they recovered via transformation. Is this a plot hole or something else?
Similar case can be seen in an episode of Evangelion. Though Shinji melted into LCL and became soup of life, he was summoned and reconstructed as a human again. The author of Gleipnir might have come up with a similar idea. But we don't know the truth yet.

Elena is definitely not evil. That flashback sequence was very interesting. Looks like she and Shuuichi may have been a thing, something happened, and she wanted him back which led to his ability as a shifter. A form where they could always be together. There was genuine pain in her eyes when she saw him.

More doubt got cast over her murdering her parents, I think it’s either A) the alien did it as a copy of her, or B) some sort of mind control. We already know the alien is up to something and not being 100 percent truthful, so I’d lean to A.

Really solid episode, great animation during the big fight, nice music, not much fan service this week other than the giant tits on Subaru’s monster :/. Can’t wait for next episode

Shuuichi and Yoshioka were severely crushed to death, then they somehow do a fusion/ inverse transformation.

Elena and Shuuichi might have had something between them which is shown in the flashbacks.
When Elena was talking to the Alien she said she desires to be with Shuuich but she can't also? I wonder what happened among them.

And the mystery surrounding Elena thickens. Pretty sure Shuichi's suffering from some form of Amnesia but something is telling me that it's more than that.

It's hard to really make out what she is up to here and the inconsistencies in the backstories gives me the impression that the alien is possibly controlling a few things in the background, as @Marinate1016 hinted at above.

Shuichi and Yoshioka v Subaru and his parents this time around. It's impressive how the Animation Quality is still staying strong but honestly it was kind of like 'meh', if I'm to be brutally honest. Quite the transformation though, I must say. Shuichi's true power is to do with transformations, is it? Whatever the case, I'm looking forward to more answers.

Claire and the ikemen's interactions are pretty fun to keep up with, on another note. Looks like he's leaning more to the "M" side, lol. Signing off with that cliffhanger is giving me a bad feeling though. I feel like she held back earlier when she saw Yoshioka "enter" her beloved Shuichi and it could just result in something now...

The flashback of the leader and Claire's sister Elena, really shows that she's not evil...seems like she's manipulated somehow?

Claire completes the pact, and sets off with another guy to find the both of them (Shuichi and Yoshioka) who's in trouble of not just finding the latter's wallet, and immediately, trouble spews with another enemy, insanely stronger than the last.

The metamorphosis of Shuichi and Yoshioka...dare I say is the highlight this episode, fending off another metamorphosis user (Subaru) and studio Pine Jam flexing their animation skills to the max.

And then...Elena showing up and resurfacing Shuichi's memories of hatred...the boy whom she admires being with as one, and the eventual false predicament of how it turned out to be.

The cliffhangers always gets me each and everytime (same as per the manga), and this time, an unconscious Yoshioka within Shuichi's dismembered monster body.

What is truly going on...is still a mystery. BTW, another great episode (not kidding) as content is growing and shaping to be something else entirely.

Really enjoyed this episode, shit hit the fan in the second half! The fight was pretty good, the coreography was decent and the soundtrack of this show is also good.

That part that they got squeezed was intense and the way they portrayed that scene was pretty cool and also terrifying. It seems like Shuuichi and Elena were very close, the fact that he forgot about her is possibly related to why she turned him into a monster, perhaps to save him or something.

Wow this got a lot more interesting again, that was a good plot twist. Shuuichi's power is cool af, I really liked that merged form. Can't wait to see Clair merge with him. Also nice I'm glad Yoshioka is safe, so Shuuichi can even heal the person inside her.

The short flashback was great, so Elena and Shuuichi had some sort of history and looks like something happened and Elena might have erased or locked Shuuichi's memory with her.

Some character development in Shuichi. Previously he probably would've chosen to run away from battle but now he aimed to kill.
The flashback with Elena and Shuichi was really interesting, looks like he and Elena might have started the search and something happened with Shuichi which might have lead to Elena killing her parents.
The animation as always was really good and the fights were nicely choregraphed.

Love Chihiro so much.

This translator needs to be fired though. They translated "shine" as "fuck off" instead of "go die" and then later "Fuzaken na" which most people translate as "don't screw with me" or "fuck off" as "die" (Literally . Less good episode. Less sexyness. (Not enough borderline hentai scenes with Clair.) But the plot and fight weren't that bad. Liked hot the main evolved and could fight almost on his own. (Well the other girl seemed to have progressed as well ... having helped a lot. Those special transformations might only be possible if someone that also has powers enters the main and "pilots" him.)

Interesting episode with that flashback. There's much more the Elena that we knew so I look forward to that.

Unfortunately we got an overpowered loud brat character. I hate that cliché. I hope he doesn't get too much screen time.

apart from the OST and animation, the only other thing I can say I really like about this show is definitely the monster designs, they look pretty cool ngl

but the thing about the fight is, when the monster grabbed that Shuuichi x Chihiro final form thingy, why didn't it just squish it like before rather than tossing it aside? Like they clearly weren't resisting so it should've been an easy win but oh wellz

I mean, in that context, using "fuck off" instead of "go die" still holds the same meanings, just like how "hai" has like 70 different meanings depending on the context. If anything, I think using "fuck off" feels more accurate to Clair's character than the literal "die"

That fusion transformation was very rad. I am surprised this was not pulled off with Claire so maybe Chihiro will be pretty important from now on. Still it's weird to witness such a power up with a side character out of the blue.

It's also nice that there is more to Elena than the eye meets and I am expecting some really fucked up backstory if Shuuichi had to get his memories tampered with.

Subaru must be pretty fucked in the head if he has his parents as a stand lol.

Chihiro is alive (at least for now), yay!!! And that transformation, wow! It looks like she'll be important, that at least gives me some more hope xD.

Ok what's the story between Elena and Shuichi? It seems they were actually close but for some reason Shuichi has those memories sealed, and unlike Clair, Chihiro was able to see them. Huh...

Grat episode, this just keeps getting better and better!

Great episode!

The combination of the name Subaru with these dark floating like hands made me think of Re:Zero.

Not long after looking for Chihiro's wallet, they run into this Subaru person and damn was it gruesome! He basically crushed Shuuichi's transformation to a pulp with Chihiro still inside. I swear the shot of a half torn apart Shuuichi with Chihiro's head on the side will probably haunt me for the rest of the week!

The metamorphosis was handled pretty damn well! The fight was actually animated pretty good as well, not as good as the fight in EP 2 though!

So many mysteries though, Shuuichi and Chihiro back in one piece after all that, can't wait for to be explained next week! Also the flashback of Shuuichi's memories really intrigued me. Elena definitely doesn't seem to be a bad person!

Now to continue reading the manga or wait for the next episode....

The mystery surrounding Erena deepens as Shuuichi and Yoshioka are forced to fight for their lives and unlock a new kind of power-up. You know, the thing about power in this series is that it never comes without a price. Think about it, every character gains power but at a huge personal cost, like their humanity, their sanity, their basic moral decency, or whatever. Shuuichi already had a hard time holding up to his humanity, even in his monster form, but this is the first time he becomes determined to take a life, even if it means losing his humanity. Fortunately, Yoshioka intervenes at the last moment, but regardless, it was still a very intense moment.

I enjoyed how the episode handled Shuuichi and Yoshioka's relationship. Since they're both stuck in a dangerous scenario, Yoshioka thinks that the people who found her wallet are good and they won't try to use it to their advantage, but she's clearly in denial and Shuuichi has to break it to her that they are surrounded by sociopaths who think twice about killing them. For once, Shuuichi doesn't have Kurea to carry him and he, for once, has to carry someone else.

I think Gleipnir will ultimately stand or fall by the strength of its characters. You can have freaky character designs and cool fight scenes, but none of those things will matter if you don't have characters for your viewers to sympathize with or get behind. I just hope Gleipnir continues to improve on this aspect as it moves forward.

There is definitely more to the Elena story then what we know about but Shuuichi seems to have some kind of Amnesia or maybe there's more to it. I don't think Elena is evil and is probably being manipulated by the alien guy.

That metamorphosis transformation with Chihiro was the best part of this episode because it is such a cool power. That makes me think that she will be an important character going forward.

Really interested to see more of the story between Elena and Shuuichi. This series has had great animation in every episode so far so big thanks to all the animators Pine Jam. See you next week for episode 8!

Wow. I was thinking that Elena's team is not evil and it turns out they're sharing same goal with Shuuichi's team. And, what was that flashback? How someone can seal memories? Why they didn't die when blonde kid crushed them? I'm pretty confused about these.

They toned the fight down loads - in the Manga they show Yoshikoa being crushed inside Shuichi and annotate the graphics to show the sounds of her bones breaking - they literally get squeezed together like a tube of toothpaste.

Because their physical bodies merge they both have access to all the memories of both people and effectively "become one" rather than the partial access Shuichi & Clair has had up to this point - this seems like it's part of Shuichi's power....

Also when Clare and the other guy find them the forest looks like a war-zone with smashed trees and blood everywhere - so much so that at first they think multiple monsters have been fighting.

In the Manga a crying Clair finds Shuichi face down and unzips him to find a naked Yoshikoa unconscious inside him.

I think the reference to being a "Rare" is significant but can't remember....

Liked the episode ngl, there are some questions regarding Shuichi and Elena, and their past. At the start of the episode in their group were the kiddo, Elena and other guy I don't know his name, but at the end another guy joins them, do they have more allies? When Shuichi told Chihiro "I'll save you" I was like 'yeah, she's gonna die" and it kinda happened I guess but they survived so... Yeah, I'm waiting for that 'recovery' explanation too.
