This was presumably set up to avoid TV series that started in the last few days of March/June/September/December to be counted in a "wrong" season where they barely aired one episode or two. It may feel weird for MAL to do this (especially only for TV series), but it's a rule that's been applied consistently across the whole database, and I doubt it's going to change at this stage. Do note that the Ultimate Anime Challenge gives you the choice of using either MAL's seasonal values (i.e. Spring) or the Jan/Feb/Mar demarcation (i.e. Winter) ; this is mostly because the challenge was created before the seasonal listings were harmonized in their current fashion. |

Nope, I meant the episode I said, episode 83/84(depending on source) is also a ~40 min Christmas special. There's a bunch of confusion regarding the episode numbering around the Christmas specials, as there are 3 of them: 37, 83 and 132-133. As far as the most recent distribution of the files on Gyao: ep 37 is a ~40 min special which consists of 37-38, 83 is a ~40 min special (probably the one in the database as it was released in 1993) and 132-133 is 4 segments split into 2 episodes, not 1 ~40 min ep. Regardless of the numbering: the show is 151 episodes with no standalone specials. But non of this matters since regardless of the confusing episode numbering the special is a part of the main series and should not be a standalone entry. |
