Pretty much every anime I've seen only has one or two seasons that are either 10-14 episodes long or 22-26 episodes long. Keeping this in mind, what would be considered a long anime series? anything with more than 50 or 60 episodes? So if an anime had three seasons that were 24 episodes each for a total of 72 episodes, would that be considered long? |

If it is longer than it needs to be...But in all seriousness it is up to the individual to decide. I think that over two cours is where people start considering a show as longish since most show are either about 13 or 25 episodes. But some might think over 50, 75, 100, or even 500 is where you draw the line. If a show had a bunch of one or two cour series like my hero academia or attack on titan, then most people would probably consider it long depending on how they define it. In short, there is no real answer. Whatever you think is long will work for you. |

I think 4+ cours (i.e. approximately 50+ episodes) is roughly the start of "long" as far as series size goes. |

I guess in a time where almost every anime is 1/2 cours long, anime of 4/5 cours can be considered as long |

10-13 Episode is short 14-26 I would call Standard length, it used to be, but with today's trends of shorter series it is rare. 27-52 is a mid-range series 53-300 is long 300+ is a waste of my time, I haven't seen a single worthwhile one of these. |

Anything over the standard 25 - 40 episodes length is considered long in my book. |

Might seem weird but when I'm in my college apartment I prefer to watch short series (13 episodes) because I don't have as much comfort (only have my laptop) as if i were in my real home (bluray player, monitor, ... ). So diving in a 25 episodes series is usually a no go for me (except for seasonal animes). 13 episodes is short 25 episodes is regular sized series ( for a gundam show -> short) 36 to 50 is a bit long (depends on the show, like gundam -> 50 episodes is standard sized) More than 50 is pretty long (depends on the show) |

When we get past the standard 26 episode range is when i'd call an anime long. |

Over 50 or at the most 75+ is considered long to a lot of people. I don't consider "long" as a synonym for "bad" though as many unfortunately seem to, so if I love the series and want to see the story, journey, and characters fully fleshed out, bring on the 200+ episodes and I'm all for it. |

Cute girls doing cute things my kind of favourites if you put some Yuri in it, They shall be around 12-13 episodes. Maybe another season but no more then 12-13 episodes per season,,That's the perfect amount of time for a cute girl show Then we have more action filled anime and all the rest ,they can be around 22-26 episode but no more If its a long Yuri romance like Strawberry Panic or something similar it can go on indefinitely!! |

Personally, I'd consider any anime that has 26+ consecutive episodes a long series. When you add all of Natsume Yuujinchou's episodes up you get 74 (not including any OVAs) and I've honestly never considered it a long show because they're all single cour seasons. |

Yeah I wasn't saying that long means bad. Just what exactly does make it a long series. Some series need to be long and that makes the story better. Kingdom is 78 episodes right now but they need to start working on season 3 already lol. |

I agree with most of the people on this thread. 1-2 cour length (10/13 and 21/25 episodes) is about standard, and the vast majority of everything that I watch 3 cour (27/36 episodes) aren't really that common, but I wouldn't consider them to be truly long, just more so than average. But yes, 4 cour (50+ episodes) is definitely the lower limit. That means the series has been airing for more than a year at least. MHA doesn't have more than the average amount of cours. 1 cour for season 1, and 2 cour for everything after up to now. The number of cours a season has is how many episodes it has, but it doesn't carry over from season to season. The Fate franchise, for example, as somewhere around 20 seasons, but none of them are longer than 25 episodes. So I wouldn't consider that to be long at all. Fairy Tail, on the other hand, only has 2 seasons out, but with 175 and 114 episodes respectively. That is a multi-cour series. |

Everything above 26 episodes is a long show. Not counting anime with a 1st season 26 and a 2nd season 26 episodes, that's still short. Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans - short series Mobile Suit Gundam Seed - long series Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann - short (I know it's 27 ep) Full metal Alchemist (both) - long |

I think 50 episodes or more constitutes a long series. Especially nowadays, when most anime are 13-26 episodes in length. And yes, I count sequels as well. They might be separate installments, but if they continue the same story line, it's still the same series as a whole. |

For me, I'd say over 100 episodes but I really don't bother how long the Anime is... if I like it, I will watch it no matter what. It doesn't matter how many Seasons an Anime has. It can have only 1 very short or very long, or it may have several seasons. I personally consider the total number of episodes of the overall Series so I'll go with 12 episodes > Short 20-25 > Standard (and probably the perfect size for one Season-only Anime) 35-50 > Medium-short 70-100 > Medium-long 100+ > Long 250+ > Very long Btw, I'm planning to re-watch One Piece from the beginning since I stopped it some years ago and this is most likely a 1.000+ episode Anime so it seems I will not have much of a Life in the next months or year (: |

I guess the best way to put it is that I have never seen a series where I said or felt like "End it already! It's going on too long!" because if I was that disinterested in the premise, characters, or world not to see them fully realized, then I simply wouldn't be watching in the first place. Whereas I have seen plenty of 11, 12, 13, 24, and 26 episode series that I would love to see dozens more episodes from in which the story was allowed to continue and breathe and expand. In some cases, it's just a flight of fancy on my part because I truly enjoy long-running things and I just want as much as possible while recognizing that the show of 13 or 26 episodes ended at a masterful place in the storytelling sense. Yet other times I definitely think the story and overall final result has suffered from being too short (and hence rushed at some point in some way). I actually haven't watched too many longer series just because a lot of them tend to be the big name shounens I either have no interest in or just haven't gotten around to watching yet. And a lot of my top favorites are shorter series ironically, but shorter series that I could have easily watched another 100 episodes from, heh. |

Even if the story was good, there are times when I feel that it has been dragged out. I'm a good ways into Bleach right now and I definitely feel that they made it a little longer than it needed to be. There are several episodes that just don't have that much content tbh, not to mention all the filler episodes, but I still think its a pretty decent series overall. Most of the time however, I find that my longer series are the ones I liked more. Kingdom and Higurashi, are the next two in line to Bleach in terms of length and I really loved Kingdom and Higurashi. Code Geass was really good too and I guess that's slightly on the longer side. |

I'd say 50+ is long. If it's an anime I'm hyped about like AOT I'd still say it's short tho it's over 50. Long story short, numbers mean nothing if it's ur fave anime even after 100 eps u'll still want more and say it's short. Maybe this is how One Piece hardcore fans feel like. Imagine saying ''1000 eps are not enough!'' I definitely can't imagine that, it's exaggerated. I couldn't take over 101 eps I had to stop how do u even continue watching teach me ur secrets. |

Detective Conan and One Piece are the longest as far as I know. Longest i've actually watched: Sailor Moon (200 episodes) Urusei Yatsura (195 episodes not counting OVA's and movies) D. Grey Man (103 episodes plus 13 episode sequel) Initial D (87 episodes and two OVA's) Monster (74 episodes) |

In this era of 11-13 episodes every show that reachs the 22-26 episodes mark would be considered long. But when the usual for most of the shows was having 22-26 episodes, really long would be over 50 episodes. Examples: 50 episodes: Kemono no Souja Erin, Turn A Gundam, Eureka Seven Over 70 episodes: Monster, Hikaru no Go |

A long anime is an anime that's 50+ episodes. Anime like Dragon Ball, Naruto, Bleach, and especially One Piece are just super long anime. I managed to get through a majority of Dragon Ball but One Piece isn't even worth it. It's just too much to watch. |
