THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

Hmm, this episode gave me a slight different impression compared to the others.

Chiya's thoughts about what she perceives around her is still silly yet I like her curiosity. The woman she encounters this episode also has a mature/motherly feel compared to some of the other characters.

Kon's mother is a kind but strict person who enjoyed helping out the girls.
Which was very helpful to Chiya who was lost.
And she even got Chiya to wear a kimono even tho she doesn't like it but she got lot's of attention for it and even food which was nice.
The mystery around Chiya's mother depend tho.

I was not expecting a more plot based episode but that's what we got. It's probably good for the series as it's nice to have some developments in the story, as much as I love seeing the characters interact. The 9th rank exams are coming earlier than I thought they would. Well with only 3 episodes left it makes sense that we're coming down to the downswing, which sucks. I want more Urara!

Anyway onto the episodes. In the first half we see that Chiya is still out there searching for her mom. Even though she probably won't get anywhere she's still going out to search. I like the way that she describes it as an itch. It's not something where she actively choices what to do but something that she randomly feels that she has to do somedays, and appaearntly without telling anyone either. Poor girl, even though she may not really show it I think being without so much of a trace of where her mom is or who she is hurts her a bit on the inside. Such to the point that she seems to obsess over it to some degree.

Also this episode does fuel more the thought of Chiya being an attention lover. It was the same with the cold. Even if the stimuli is unenjoyable she'll start to love it if she gets attention. Silly doggo.

And then there was the crystal ball that exploded. It's almost akin to what happened with Kon last episode. There is something up with Chiya that the gods (or more rather that rabbit god) don't want the others to see. I'd imagine this probably has to do with the don't divine about the gods rule. If there was any doubt about the last episode I think this happening to a 2nd rank urara as well confirms that it wasn't lake specific it was Chiya specific. There is special about Chiya (and not just the type of special that Kon was swooning over last episode :P ) that the gods don't want them to know about. If I were to guess I imagine Chiya is the marriage between the 1st rank urara and that bunny god, which would make sense why she was dumped outside and why they work so hard to keep her parents a secret, it's not exactly the type of thing I'd imagine either party would want to let get out.

The second half felt a bit rushed, maybe it was because of it only being in the second half I knew that Nono wasn't going to die. ~~And it has nothing to do with the fact that I looked up the previews to the episode before watching the 2nd half. Nothing to do with that at all.~~ I imagine that probably would have been a bit more impactful if I didn't have a good idea of where they were going with it. Still it was pretty humorous to watch. All the diviniation methods pointed towards death which was a pretty funny gag. Bribed gods, much? :P I liked the little gags in this episode as well as Kon's song. Poor Kon, she's such a scaredy cat. I love how much the girls care for each other. They really are great friends with each other. Although I think this episode made have told it a bit more than showed it I think the whole series has done a good job of showing it. Even Kon who is the most uptight of them tends to enjoy all of the silly things that they do. I imagine if she had a choice she wouldn't change it anyway.

Speaking of which, I think we can see where Kon got that from. Kon's mom really seems to like those rules. I wonder how she'd respond to Kon bringing in a total rulebreaker into the family. Well considering how she already seems to like Chiya I guess it should be fine. She seems to be a pretty good mom although distant. She does seem to care about Kon and she didn't get upset at Chiya when she told her all the silly things that they did. So that's pretty good in my book.

I like how Chiya sees them all as animals. That makes sense because it's Chiya. Chiya is such cute silly. They're all cute sillies really. I love all them. >W<

Kon's mother is nice. She's strict, but likes helping the girls. She was helpful to Chiya who got lost. The crystal ball broke when Tokie did a reading. Chiya was made to wear a kimono and got lots of attention. The girls passed the preliminary exam and are ready to become ninth-ranked urara.

Silly Chiya, no wonder you get lost easily. You're in a Labyrinth Town after all. LOL
Wait... If Natsume is a "tanuki" and Kon the "fox", then what is Chiya IF she got "animalized" like in that crystal ball? A bunny maybe, like that black miasma?
Please no, anyone but Natsume that got into danger. >_<

Great episode.

Kon's mother is really nice, that was quite the interesting divination she did on Chiya.

Well it was pretty obvious that this calamity wouldn't be anything serious but I didn't expect that it'd be an exam. xD

Glad to see all the girls passed the test, really heartwarming ending with Tokie stating the strengths of each girl and how they displayed it. Couldn't help but grin at that scene. :)

Amazing episode as usual.

Kon's mother is really nice and she really looked like Kon. The way Nina-sensei talks about her students makes me think she will cry when they all leave Natsume-ya.

That part Kon was sing that weird song was funny XD

It's so sad that this anime is already ending. I got really attached to all the characters and every episode is so refreshing. I'll miss it so much =/

Oh yeah, I forgot about that thing. Then again, does it have anything "connected" with the bunny-like black miasma she met earlier?

Hmm so this episode starts with Chiya being lost eh lol. Wow this diviner that she meets is quite the shady type eh. No coin eh fine then i'll take anything else then lol. Chiya was lucky to be saved by another diviner that seems quite experienced. Hmm this new arrival seems to be well versed in the rules of urara's. She also seems pretty adapt at using her umbrella as a weapon as well. Hmm Tokie was kind enough to buy Chiya clothes eh. As a urara you have to look respectable to your clients and to others as well after all. But its nice that most people ate finding Chiya cute in the kimono. Who knew that dressing in a kimono would net Chiya that much free stuff lol. Hmm so Tokie is a second ran Urara eh. Tokie seems to be quite kind and caring with little ego in her personality. The difference between a second rank and a tenth ranked is only a few paces ahead eh. Its nice that Chiya gets the chance to tell Tokie what her training has been like and how she's finding life with the other girls. Crystal divination eh. That sure looks to be mysterious. To be able to see ones past with that eh. Quite powerful divination methods indeed. Koume as a cat, Nono as a Tanuki and Kon as a fox eh. Thats actually pretty spot on. Tokie seems to be pretty good with her powers and at the same time pretty perceptive as well. But for such a experienced Diviner to make a mistake though. I guess there are things that even she can't predict eh. Being asked that question out of the blue though. Alas Tokie is not Chiya's mother. Lol Chiya thinking that Tokie gave birth to that many children at once though. Tokie isn't a fox you know.

In a way Chiya's determination to succeed in her studies is quite warming in that her wish is to be able to see where her mother is. Chiya's description and impression of her was spot on really. Its nice to hear that her opinion of Chiya was a good one. This wasn't a coincidence that they met at all. Still the fact the Tokie who's a second ranked no less isn't able to find Chiya's mother is something. Plus she also saw that mysterious figure as well. Can that be Chiya's mother i wonder. So Tokie was on her way to see Nina as well eh. This must be fate that brought them together eh. Wow so Tokie was actually Kon's mother eh. That was pretty surprising for everyone. They do have a resemblance though. So Tokie came to see them to deliver a rather frightful prophesy eh.
Hmm a great calamity will impact on them eh. A calamity that will impact at midnight that will take out one of the urara that train there eh. Scary stuff indeed. Even more so when it concerns Nono. Still her words are not all gloom as if the remaining three can work together they can prevent this from happening. Nina's reaction is as expected but man managing to knock yourself out was unexpected. Still its nice to see the girls are not panicking and are actively trying to help.

I wonder what this calamity can be though. Being crushed to death by Koume, a fire or a robber, Poison food or accidents. The list can be endless. Koume's first card for her divination was the death card lol. And Kon's result was the number four as well. Both of which can mean death. Wow thats a lot of protective charms that Kon had Nono wear though. Lol Chiya's version of a war though. One between pigs and boars eh. The barberry charm eh. Despite being scared it's nice to see Kon muster the courage to keep up the search though. Kon's calming song though was creepy though. But at the same time seeing her friends work so hard and even get hurt in the process to save her must be hard for Nono. But its nice to see that in such desperate times that they are all managing to stick together. This is what friends are for after all. Wow to think that was all actually part of their qualification exam though. To think that Tokie was actually a proctor that was observing them all. I actually thought that it was real lol. But seeing the girls all work together to deal with this prophesy was nice to see.
So apart from divination techniques they also test on matters of the heart and bonds and friendships as well eh.

Kon's bizarre song as described by her mother though lol. Courage, Forward thinking and gathering of knowledge are all things that Urara's should be able to do and in this each has passed as they were able to do this well. No to mention a strong will to not give up as well. Well in the end though they only passed the qualification exam the girls did well to pass it. Nice to see them all fired up for the main exam though. Nina's funny when she's drunk lol. Its nice to see both Nina and Tokei care so much about the girls though. Quite the funny episode and a great one as usual.

Oh hey, story development! That's always welcome :)

Felt a bit rushed but at least it's not an episode full of fanservice. That scene with Chiya and Kon's mom pretty much confirms that Chiya is the child of a god. (as if it wasn't obvious already)
It's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer.

Great episode. At the very beginning i thought that girl was Kon or Koume just trying to scare Chiya, but no lol
Glad that Tokie appeared. What a plot twist it was that she is Kon's mother.
So even Tokie, an Urara of 2nd level can't see who is Chiya's mother...
What a great way to test the girls lol Glad that they passed the first half.
I bet it was thanks to Kon's songs hahahaha
Loved that part when everyone of them was guessing Nono's faith but all of them said the same thing, death hahahaha Nono's face was like "can't believe i will die" xD

So according to this episode, 9 episodes to level up (50%), so let's consider that 10 episodes and they are at lvl 9.
So 10 episodes vs 9 lvls = 90 episodes, so i betters start reading the manga xD

But anyways, congrats girls.

after this EP i think this is actually Chiya mother in this picture with her its from the EP she got trunk

cause when Tokie tried to look her mother the crystal ball showed that goddess

if shes half goddess that would more sense that she can see gods ability to see god is rare that's why it more likely she is half goddess herself
