| i was just thinking... maybe the penguindrum is something that ringo used to get to the future and get that diary... idk, but the diary itself sounds awfully specific for her and the anime talks about the point in the future where the penguin hat came from. unless ringo's destiny is really entwined with the twins, which would be a little bit disappointing tbh. |

| LET'S DESTINY! Ringo starts to remind me of Nanami from Utena with all these fantasy sequences (which are absolutely funny). There's also a famous quote by Marie Antoinette in one of these, and lots of references to Rose of Versailles. Also, I noticed a seastar and a sea turtle on Ringo's purse, which makes her thematic connection to the ocean even stronger. I like how Kanba's and Shouma's eyes reflect their different characters. Kanba has sharp ones (adulthood, intellect), and Shouma has round ones (kindness, immaturity). New station: Akasaka-mitsuke - somebody pushes Kanba's ex-gf from the escalator because it was written in her diary. The whole escalator scene looks like a reference to Evangelion (I don't remember any other show where an escalator is drawn flat like this). Akasaka station also has a theater there. This is also the first episode without Survival plan. |
