i don't know what made that teacher think he had the right to order them to break up, the most he should have done was to ask them to try harder and offer suggestions as to how they could improve their grades. i'm honestly not even sure why he thought extreme measures were needed in arima's case, he only dropped to 3rd after all.

I was going to fume over how the teacher had the gall to tell them to break up & go back to their studies. But theri parents' actions totally overshadowed that. I was completely impressed! O.O

... i completely agree with the teacher though. because students shouldnt let their grades suffer and be careful not to lose sight of their goals. as they should say, "work now, play later" although the funny thing is wen exactly do u play wen ur an adult?? o.o

I thought this one was kind of boring honestly. I didn't like the teacher character, he was just such a cliche and I made the conflict that they had with him pretty meh.

I really hate people like the teacher who think they can control other people's lives o.O
And did he really think those 2 will hold the first 2 places for all exams during all 3 years of highschool? xD Well, not that they are unable to do so, but who would think that?

Yukino's parents are quite cool :P

I would have liked to see Yukino bursting out in front of the teachers when they were called for the first time. Dropping her whole mask and just having a real go at them. That would have been awesome. Well, she still had selfcontrol so that she could keep it quite calm, but at least they both spoke up, the parents, too. There are too many cases (in most animes and real life) where either the students or the parents (or even both) don't speak up. I hate it when teachers can have their way.

Good episode, I was frustrated through most of it.
But, the ending was great.
The monologues are really good in this anime.

They got in trouble because they spend more time on their relationship then school... In the end the response of their parents sure was great! Lets see if they'll face this problem again!

The thing is, though, from my admittedly loose knowledge of Japanese society - you have College to "play", after which you have to dedicate your life to your job (remember, this is the country that has a word for "working yourself to death"). And they wonder why they have problems with declining birth-rate.

Oh my god. This episode. THIS TAKES THE CAKE.

Intruding into a student’s life and being nosy is rather objectionable. It is a teacher’s duty, yes—at least up to some point. But lecturing them with “YOU HAVE TO BREAK UP AND FOCUS ON STUDYING. DON’T RUIN YOUR PROMISING FUTURE,” and then calling their parents… Hey, now that’s going a bit too far.

That being said, Yukino’s parents are amazing. I almost teared up for some reason.

I’m still not sure why, but I adored this one.

The embodiment of free will. ;w;
I think, then procrastinate.

What the hell is wrong with the teachers. I doubt getting 3rd place or 13th place on exams in the school makes students be lectured to hell. Wtf, unnecessary drama here guys.. >.< The teachers only cared about the school's reputation in producing wonderful prodigious kids who will be future leaders and stuff, god, that's selfish.

Yea, with all romances, there needs to be a cockblocker, in this case the stupid teacher.
Not to mention, do these kids have any spine? Jesus, they have no obligation to oblige to any of those preposterous demands. So, it's not only the teachers, but these weak characters. Well, this only gives them room to grow right? I hope so.

The amount of mutual understanding in this episode really made me happy. I was afraid this was going to drag out, but the whole grades ordeal seemed to have been resolved with one good talk.

I think this is my favorite episode so far. It was par for the first half of the episode with Yukino really speaking up for herself to the teachers, but the ending just made it so much better. Yukino's dad's initial reaction was hilarious. I had no idea what he was going to do, but then he shows up and delivers that wham-speech to the teacher; I couldn't help but find the amount of understanding the parents had for their children to be heartwarming. It's all too often for it to not go that way.

I really like Yukino's parents in particular now. Wow.

Seeing a romance anime with so many relevant developments is gratifying. I hope it can keep it up.

Was a bit worried about Arima's parents but they were okay with it too! A++ to both sets of parents yeyyyyyy :'D

Perhaps my least favorite episode so far because it was just so simple. Every other episode was great, this one just felt "meh".

Still great comedy, moments and message. That's all, I guess.

Anime parents are always this great eh?
Teacher isn't that bad, they actually accept it when the parents said so

I'm so satisfied with this episode

I guess back in the 90's teachers were allowed to intrude like that. If a teacher tried to pull that stunt now, parents would be all over that lol.

but seriously great episode. Really inspires you to do what you want, and that the 'model student' way of doing things isn't worth it if you're not as happy as you can be. Glad the visuals are back too.

Haha, Yukino's dad is just pure gold. I absolutely love their family relationship! And the speech he gave to Fuyutsuki-sensei Kawashima-sensei was really encouraging and showed his care for Yukino. I even teared up at the end, even the stubborn teacher understood them! The soft viola (or was it contrabass?) piece playing at the end really warmed up my heart.

What a great episode! I love how the parents stood up for their kids, and the teacher wasn't made into a purely evil guy at the end. Such a great romance, I love this anime! Lots of drama without becoming melodrama so far.

Ahh, the teacher simply cared more about the school having prodigal students to win competitions and brag about. Good thing he reconsidered, I hope we won't have to come back to that. Seems like the parents are already sold on the prospect of marriage.

Wow. I got so angry during this episode that I had to pause for a minute before I could finish watching. Those teachers are so out of line to even suggest that two students break up with each other, much less demand it. Never mind the outrageous situation of standing in front of a committee like a defendant. I do not think I could have reacted half as calm as Yukino did there. Worst of all, I assume that this situation is not too far from reality during that time in Japan.
At least both parents scored major points with me for shutting down that nonsense in a well-articulated manner.
PS: I do not regret a single minute of not studying in my life.

Idiotic society that only cares about producing more ''perfect'' students with no personality who only work non-stop and gain reputation for their school. If fitting in means being an average moron whose entire personality is being a good student a worker, then screw fitting in. How much geniuses would be there if people only cared about being a perfectly-shaped brick?

Would've been a 5/5 but the reused animation is really starting to distract me from what's going on. Why pan over to a static window as soon as someone starts talking? They can't even reuse previous scenes for the recap in the beginning lol

Also even if it's done plenty of good for both of them so far, I feel like their dependency for each other could lead to something really bad for them if their relationship were to be harmed, it is only high school and as shown they are still naive at their age, so they shouldn't become too attached

the never ending cycle of sacrificing your present promised with a guaranteed future..do the teachers really drawn the conclusion of the couples destroying their future in one term! Isn't it already amazing to score that good(3 & 13) even when the couple realized they were slacking...that was an OP statement.

one of the best episodes until this point

"i have some weird sisters" (and also parents considering how they reacted to the tests)
her reaction to 13th place seemed devastating, as it did for Kyle from South Park when he was "elected" the ugliest kid from the class.
bold of her to not turn the other cheek in front of that teacher sticking his nose into their relationship, and nice to watch how both their couple of parents still sided with them and even the fact that teacher himself seemed to have toned town his attitude and both the students apologized for their "disrespectful" behavior

yes, they actually lampshaded that Yukino's father looks more like a sibling
