I might have to check out said VN based on that quote alone. Thanks!

All I have to say is thank you for the quote at the top of your profile as I had never seen it before.

I just went to you because i seen that you're back in full mod mode.

I...I think everything that needed to be said in this thread has already been said. I'm not even sure it's possible to take a stance in this thread without being called out in some shape or fashion, if evident by how long this thread has been going with its back and forth toxicity flinging and off-topic derailments. Perhaps this thread could have ended up better if it were phrased in another way? Perhaps there may have been a better place this thread could have been made on a website that better facilitates this type of discussion? I dunno.

Said that to this thread And especially second post, and incomp- of two mods in that thread, talk about equality. I would report them by myself but the last time i reported a mod i was banned for a week.

whoa, that Hellsing Ultimate rating you gave Surprised me, that show tends to be extremely hit or miss from what i read, but did not watch it myself.

Thank you for all the hard work you put in! :)

I don't know if i have actually posted this anywhere last year, but really, last year's Idols no Naku Koro Ni was so intimidating at first, because of all the details, n maps, n so many characters that were there in the story. A lot of effort must have gone in the making of that one. Kudos to you! I enjoyed solving it :)

Looking forward to this year's story as well!

Rather than saying all opinions are subjective and can be equally true, or that there were one objective means to assess something (both of which I feel to be constricting in definition), I'd imagine there to be means to say that certain ways to approach anime given a particular context can become more or less appropriate, rather than right or wrong. In a sense, what is Kino's Journey trying to do, and is it successful in that regard?

I'm well aware of context when it comes to art. This is—in part—what I do for a living. However, a piece can still fall short when it's judged in a specific context; it can still fail to do whatever it was trying to do.

I really can't stand it when critics and enthusiasts direct their ire to audience members who "aren't smart enough to get it", or don't see what they see. It's not up to the audience to decode some abstract and complex thing that the artist was trying to portray. It's up to the artist to make their work accessible to some extent so that their intentions aren't completely hidden.

Not everyone who's unimpressed by Kino 2017 is dumb, or not watching it the right way.

There are some experimental works that I've enjoyed. Ingmar Bergman is one of my favorite directors. He often took big creative risks, but he was also careful to retain clarity in the writing. If you didn't get his broad strokes, you could still at least understand his smaller more linear ones.
