Cause I am a grown ass man and I'll do what I want?

Adding, I mean Natsume and the book of friends is considered shoujo, and I that is definitely in my top five, as well as skip beat! what is 100% shoujo, fruits basket as well.

Those stories were so flipping great, how could I not watch and love them?!?!?!?! that is the better question.

After watching ton of shounen romance with [b]retarded, clueless, wimpy protagonist, I bet everyone can use a change of pace with shoujo genre.

Despite common belief guys like to see strong women although our concept of a strong woman generally differs from that of feminists/sjw's . As long as the shoujo does not transform the MC into Mary Sue like most shojo today and as long as it does not throw stuff like a woman beating a man twice her size without a proper explanation shojo can be enjoyable. There are some shojo I liked.
And then you have the second category of effeminate weak men that actually believe a woman can beat a guy twice her size without anything to enhance her abilities. And training does not count.
Strong women are indeed appealing. I like to imagine that if I were ever to challenge one, I'd be mercilessly beaten. Afterwards, she'd chain me up, force me to call her "Ojou-sama," then, after kicking me, instruct that, because I'd dirtied her foot, I must clean it with my tongue.
Then you are from the second category and I have some bad news for you: women hate and despise this type of man. That is because on a subconstient they feel the need to be dominated by a man. Feminists apparently feel this need more than the average as they are the most into humiliation porn with a woman beig tge sub.

Shoujo's that have only 1 leading male is fine, because it's focused more on their relationship. If it's a reverse-harem then I don't see myself watching it.

Why do girls watch shounen?

I DON'T CARE!
All weebs creatures of the galaxy, hear this message. Those of you who listen will not be struck by western animation. You will no longer know hunger, nor pain. Your Anime have come to lead you now. Our strength shall serve as a luminous sun toward which all intelligence may blossom. And the impervious shelter beneath which you will prosper. However, for those who refuse our offer and cling to their western animation ways… For you, there will be great wrath.

I would add that the art and the soundtracks are amazing as well in the shoujo department.
For music, maybe, but for art it's more of an exception than a rule. For the average shoujo the visuals, whether it's the art or animation part, I can't think of more than a handful that are actually above average.

I don't understand how you guys can get past all the shoujo tropes. I just can't do it. Not to mention Shoujo is literally just romance anyways.
Well, you could say that about every single shounen/action anime. Weak MC gets shit on from villain, some girl or best friend cheers him on, MC fights back and wins the day.

Because you shouldn't let basic genre labels blind your judgement.
I love romance, I love fluff, I love drama, and yet I find that most of my favorite shows are SHOUNEN instead of SHOUJO.

Shocking isn't it?
As much as I can be a magical girl junkie, I still also love stuff like eureka seven and yu yu hakusho.
Labels mean nothing except for what tropes you can probably expect.

To me, I don't usually care about the genre, I watch something that I feel like it, if I want some nerve-wrecking and mind-bending stuff I look for Psychological, If I want some zero to hero and good guy vs. bad guy, I watch shounen, and if I feel like to watch something fluffy and light-hearted to ease my mind, I watch Shoujo or Slice-or-life. I'm practically open to any type of show and genre

Why does MAL have bad forum topics all the time?

Not attacking or anything, just wondering.
Some say, while visiting Japan on a college semester abroad, a Gaijin MAL Tourist snuck into the attic of a shop in Akihabara. It was there that the MAL user found a rare and ancient Gunpla which had only been released as part of a limited series. The MAL user's eyes glowed with envy, and he whispered to himself, "If I were to possess such a treasure, then power, women, and money would all be within my grasp!" As he reached for the Gunpla a hoarse voice spoke from across the room, "Please.... while time has taken many things from me, including my legs, my otaku soul has never faltered." As the MAL user's eyes adjusted to the attic lighting, he saw an elderly wheelchair bound man with a distinct plad shirt, and idol headband. The elderly man extended his arms towards his Gunpla, with tears in his eyes and a begging expression. The MAL user paused for a moment, as he considered the sad sight before him, but then a ray of moonlight shined through a window and illuminated the splendor of the Gunpla. Doubts silenced, the MAL user grabbed the Gunpla and raced out of the attic. As the MAL user dashed into the night, it is said that the elderly man in the attic cried out, "I CURSE YOU!!! I CURSE YOU AND ALL OF YOUR KIND FOR WHAT YOU'VE DONE TO ME! No matter what your people do, they will never escape the pain you've caused me today when they look upon their forum boards!"

I think in your sarcastic splendor you just discovered greatness, like... this needs to be a thing. A manga explaining why quite a few western anime fans suck, more of an instructional documentation. Could include bad manners to avoid, traveling etiquette, so much good could come from this beautiful fable you have birthed on the forums. Is this already a thing?! Where can it be viewed. Have your people call my people.

Shounen is common in seeing it, and it tends to be boring because the content it presents is usually the same. Shoujo is a bit more mature and, although it is supposed to be "made for or see the girls", I have more preference for watching the comedies and dramas presented in this theme.

Considering Cardcaptor Sakura is one of my favourite shows, I can say it's because shoujo anime is worth watching for cuteness alone and I'm a 27 year old man. Maybe that's why as I have grown far beyond caring about target demographics.

The focus in shoujo anime tends to be on character interaction and development, and that's kinda my jam, so of course I'm gonna dive right in.

This glorious signature image was created by @Mayumi!

I am the Arbiter of Absolute Truth, and here is my wisdom:

"Anime was always influenced by the West. This is not news.
Shoujo is the superior genre primarily aimed at young people.
Harem/isekai are lazy genres that refuse any meaningful innovation.
There is no 'Golden Age.' There will always be top-shelf anime.
You should be watching Carole & Tuesday."

In my eyes, the demographic tags mean nothing. A great story will transcend the age/gender limitations of said tags, and because of this I have no reason to avoid a show based off of them. Nana is a shoujo and I know tons of dudes who consider it to be one of the greatest anime ever made. The same goes for many guys (including myself) who love Usagi Drop, which is a josei. Who cares who it's marketed towards? :P
This, basically. I don't think demographic should be labeled as a genre. Unlike Romance or Isekai, demographics such as shoujo have no common tropes. Instead, the tropes are based on another genre like Magical Girls and Reverse Harems which like Shonuen's action shows are what defines the so-called genre for most people. However, Magical Girls and Reverse Harems are different enough that I wouldn't put them together as a genre. In fact, Reverse Harems have, not so surprisingly, more in common with the Shounen's regular Harems.

I'm also don't like shoujo very much at first but changed my mind after watching k-on. from that, I continue to watch other shoujo anime. plus why I also like shoujo romance manga, maybe because the romance itself produce the type of romance that I'm looking for. solid, almost realistic, no harem, and always stick to one person.
