As far as the "Western myths" go, it's complicated. The Soviets did cover up several space disasters. At Nedelin they only admitted "a number" died but not until the end of the Cold War did we find out for sure it was over 150. They also completely covered up a launch disaster in 1980 that killed 48 people and didn't admit it until 1989 thanks to Gorbachev. When people talk about "the myths" it refers to how during the 1960s and 70s, the United States cited some dude in Italy claiming that the Soviets were just constantly losing cosmonauts and Yuri Gagarin was probably the 12th Soviet in space and first to survive. He produced recordings of what he said were the death screams of cosmonauts he picked up on Ham radio, but these were found to be forgeries. These tales of lost cosmonauts were later discovered to be greatly exaggerated and don't appear to be validated by the opening of the Soviet archives or current US intelligence assessments. In reality, the Soviets really didn't have the money to just go through cosmonauts like tissue paper considering the time and resources spent training them.

I'm aware it's just a silly show, but I have a tendency to take historical fiction a bit seriously. If it were just a monster girl show about dating vampire waifus, I'd give it a free pass. However, the fact that it throws in references to real incidents like the Nedelin launch disaster and is so obvious about its real world parallels, makes me take it more seriously. If you take the show as even a semi-serious but quirky fun retelling of the space race, then I feel the show fails. If the show is just 100 percent a joke then it's fine.

That is absolutely no problem! Vote for whomever you think has the best novel. BTW, you can actually vote for more than one! So if you're stuck between options, don't worry.
