The wraparound band on the eighth volume of Cool-kyou Shinja's Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon (Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid) manga announced a second season for its anime adaptation on Tuesday.

The comedy fantasy manga began its serialization in Monthly Action's inaugural issue in May 2013. Futabasha published the seventh volume in April 2018. The magazine also serializes three spin-offs centering on different supporting characters, the latest of which, Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon: Lucoa wa Boku no xx desu, launched on January 25. The manga has a cumulative 1.3 million copies of its compiled volumes in circulation.

The 13-episode anime series produced by Kyoto Animation aired in Winter 2017. The seventh and final Blu-ray and DVD disc included an unaired episode in September 2017. Crunchyroll simulcast the anime with subtitles while Funimation streamed an English dub. Funimation also released the anime in North America on a Blu-ray and DVD volume last April.

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga in English in December 2015 and shipped the seventh volume this past November. The company is also publishing the Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon: Kanna no Nichijou and Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon: Elma no OL Nikki spin-off series.

It is kyoani lol. the reports cant say it immediately because there isnt a source attached to it. which is why journalism has more credibility than leaks.

God i was hoping for this since it was announced awhile back that the manga series is nearing its end so if a s2 was to be made it was now or never. Thank you Anime gods for hearing my prayers. T.T

Though we'd already known thanks to Moetron, it sure is nice to see an official confirmation. Damn, this is pleasant news.

I'd been all too worried that a series as great as Dragon Maid would find itself unable to except the "single season hell" that afflicts so many anime out there, especially given news that it apparently hadn't sold as well in Japan. All of us fans can now breath a collective sigh of relief as we'll finally get the continuation we needed.

My only concern is whether or not Kyoto Animation will reprise their role as the studio responsible for the project in this next season. While I love the story and the characters, there was an immense amount of charm, detail, and aesthetic put into the animated adaptation of the first season. I'm not confident another studio would be able to recapture that same magic, but let's wait and see.

1. I don't remember this selling well on BD (even then Etotama got a S2 despite selling less than 500 BDs).

2. I saw this announcement on Moetron.

3. I'm still glad it still got a second season.

Finally, great to have solid confirmation!

Moetron got it right this time too and I couldn’t have been happier. So glad to see this getting a 2nd Season, can’t wait to see it! Hopefully, KyoAni will be back for this show too, MAL sort of hinted they would by naming KyoAni as the reprising Studio earlier yesterday, maybe it’s still there even now, so I hope that’s true!

Likely because the news was broke by several sources days before the official announcement. Mods just being cautious until a legit confirmation came out.

The first season was really good until it decided to get a bit too dramatic for my tastes in the last couple of episodes or so, but I'm pleased to see this confirmed and very much looking forward to it.

This means Ilulu will presumably be anime. Yikes XD

I do kinda wonder about the studio. Lately KyoAni's wanted to only adapt stuff they have some control over, though I suppose they could cede that.

I wouldn't be too pessimistic about the studio since the cover actually mentions the same production committee as from the first season, in which Kyoto Animation was naturally a part of. Besides that I personally doubt that with their growing influence in production committees, KyoAni would partner in a committee where they don't have a leading position or are the top financier. That's why I'm confident that KyoAni will most likely return for this season.

Moreover, I'm glad that a solid show gets a new season.

They'd average around 3.5k per volume, I'd say that's pretty good sales overall.

This is wonderful. S2... Well the series was pretty average. The only that grabbed my attention was Lucoa and Shouta. (Which peak my interest in the Onee/Shota stuff). But everyone else was decent. I guess Ill end by saying this.

Ravioli Ravioli let's continue to lewd the Dragon loli.

also the manga is almost ended. so there is possibilities of complete adaptation.
