Well, he doesn't even find out why Aki acted so nice to Gasou until the Paris arc, which is after this current one, so it's quite a ways off. Also, she believed it was him because of his shape, his acting familiar with her, and the legitimate letter from the grandfather that ostensibly gave him a lot of credibility. Though I can definitely understand your frustration. I feel it too, only because of dramatic irony, but nonetheless I still dislike this arc, not even the manga's recent chapter can make me like it, though whether this month's chapter does, is yet to be seen.

A lot got really triggered by this episode. I remember I feel sorry for Makabe when I was reading the manga around this time. It's a good wake up call for Makabe tho and I feel like without Gasou this series would've become generic.

I definitely don't blame those that were triggered, I remember being pretty tilted myself when I first read this. Oh dramatic irony, what a wonderful bullcrap technique. While I agree that Gasou certainly acted as a catalyst to bring about some sort of development, his introduction still feels contrived to me. I'm okay with it but definitely don't endorse it

Yeah a lot of people feel this way, even among the original manga readers. It just felt so contrived to me when I first read it, and I'm grateful that it lead to some sort of development, but it was hard for me to read through this arc. A few characters made the arc tolerable for me but I doubt they'll be introduced in the anime considering where it's seemingly ending.
