 During the Fantasia Bunko Big Thanksgiving 2016 event held on Saturday, it was announced that the light novel High School DxD will receive a new TV anime adaptation. More information will be announced at a later time. Written by Ichiei Ishibumi and illustrated by Miyama-Zero, the novel began publishing under the Fujimi Fantasia Bunko in September 2008. The series currently has 22 volumes published, with the most recent one released on July 20. The novel also has a manga adaptation drawn by Hiroji Mishima, which has been serialized in Dragon Age magazine since July 2010. An anime adaptation by studio TNK premiered in Winter 2012, followed by two additional seasons by the same studio, premiering in Summer 2013 and Spring 2015, respectively. The manga adaptation is currently licensed by Yen Press for North American release, with the most recent volume released on April of this year. FUNimation Entertainment licensed and simulcast all three seasons in North America, while Anime Limited licensed the third season for release in United Kingdom. Source: Otakomu |

| Called this was going to happen tbh I remember a rumor that was going around about half a year ago of a spin off or something (I kind of forget the article) but still pumped :) and still (tied) for my 2nd favourite anime I really enjoy the story and how they use some characters from religions and also myths into it. |
  All the Anime's on my list are all one's I own Personal physical copies of, or have seen in theaters that I plan on buying, series that I've watched on FUNimation or HIDIVE will not be on here unless/until I have already bought it. |

And no, I don't believe they were planned before anime airing. 2. It was been said that if they get another season it would would adapt 9 and 10th Volume and since Born had been erased by side stories from point 2 so new season would just continue with adaptation of novels (from 9th Volume). I just wonder how they will handle story parts that Born changed... 3. I hope so since Born butchered material from LN but I really doubt it would happen < see point 2. If you want to know what really happened there, you should read volumes 5, 6 and 7 of Light Novel. |
