Good episode again.

The scenery shots of Zou in the beginning were beautiful. :O

So we get more backstory on what happened in Zou before the StrawHats arrived.
Sad to see the town being destroyed but I loved the moment were that kid and the rest of the Minks fought back, That was pretty cool.
Drifters are the Artificial Zoan soldiers I guess.

Luffy shaking the suspension bridge was funny, So like him to be interested in that and the mammoth. He's never been one to listen to backstories after all. XD
That nonchalant remark of his about the ninja. XD

It's kind weird, I don't understand why Toei chose to leave out the last few pages of the chapter, Normally they do the adaptation in a direct 1:1 / chapter:episode ratio, We got the final bits of chapter 807 and 3/4th of 808 in this episode. They could have just added the rest and gone back to the old 1:1 but oh well it's still pretty good.

It was okay. Best parts to me were Law reuniting with his crew (that was so adorable), and the mother and the child defending themselves in the story being told, which was entertaining. And Luffy is so silly. lol

Lol typical Luffy. This arc looks like it'll be great although I'm a tad disappointed with Jack's design. Maybe it's because I'm comparing him to how badass Kaidou looks but it reminds me of how I felt back when I saw Kaku's transformation. Also, I swear Nami's boobs have gotten bigger, again! Oh and Bepo is so freaking cute xD

Jack is a huge mammoth, lol, I suppose that he has a second transformation because I don't see anything special about him besides the toughness.
They were looking for Raizo, I wonder why and did they come because they heard it from Kin'emon.

They haven't been doing 1:1 chapter ratio most of the time for like a 100 episodes now. Dressrosa has 118 episodes and 102 chapters.

Well Dressrosa had some 0.5:1 episodes but actually for the most part it is 1:1, Sometimes they did adapt a bit extra or less but I'm pretty sure that a lot of those episodes were exactly 1 chapter of the manga animated. They did sometimes change it up and do it like this episode were they adapted a little from the previous chapter and skipped the final bits of the main chapter but overall you could say that most of the time it is 20 pages:1 episode.

But at least the grounds for this arc are being laid, those Kaido pirates want Raizo and we don't know how the Minks will react to the gang knowing three such Wano people

Decent ep. At least Jack appearance is good. The voice actor is also good. It's nice to see him as a cruel and heartless person since he is one of the disasters. Cool to know that the Minks have power and not only helpless sheep. It were nice to see that kid kick that man's ass. LOL. So electricity is their power, not bad. Wonder who this amazing Mink superior warrior king is? This is gonna be exciting.

Finally we saw the beginning of what happened on Zou before Luffy and the others arrived.

Jack didn't really give a fuck about what the Minks had to say. Interesting to see that he's a mammoth. So he's a Zoan type. And I really didn't expect that little kid Mink to fight like this. That was a pretty cool scene.

Was also interesting to hear that every Mink is a natural good fighter.

No wonder why Ninja, Samurai and Wa No Kuni are banned words. Of course Luffy don't care about this xD

Typical Luffy one the chain bridge haha.

I also liked the scene with Law and his crew who finally came together again after such a long time :)

I think next episode we will see how strong Jack really is, because the leader of the Minks seems also like a very tough opponent.

Wow was this episode terribly extended. Wtf was even with that bridge scene? They could have as well make Luffy say "yeah guys, we need 3 minutes break for some stupid filler shit, sorry about that" :v

Also, the last scene really shows how horrible pacing kills comedy in this series - Brook says "we can't talk about this thing" and then Luffy literally one second later asks about this. Simple, but still pretty funny. And yet somehow even something silly like this gets killed by unnecessary extending it. Scene like this should deliver its punchline fast, what the hell are they doing ehh.

Classic Luffy.

The minks keep getting better. They are all natural fighters huh, that's pretty cool for once. If the entire country got defeated like that, Jack must be really powerful. The sheephead guy got defeated by Sanji back in the Dressrosa arc, and if he's a leader, then all the power must be with Jack, because the rest of them don't seem that strong.

He said what shouldn't have been said. Typical Luffy pulling no punches.
Just like during Punk Hazard where he wanted to go to the most dangerous island XD
Everyone's reactions were priceless though- especially Nami's!

I'm really curious about Raizo now though. I wonder why exactly Kaido's right hand man is looking for him, and why he thought he was on Zou. Maybe he's a Mink or something??

Speaking of Jack, is his DF a Mythical-Zoan type, or does he always look like a huge mammoth?
I'm also guessing that those Gifters have all eaten the SMILE Devil Fruits that Doffy was trafficking.

I loved this episode and because I did, I’d like to make my criticism of it, and One Piece as a whole, first. I’ve always found the kingdom good/bad binary to be frustrating. As morally ambiguous as Oda can make this world, I often find the kingdoms we visit as being separated by the perfect and happy and beautiful which was ruined by the evil bad guys. And by removing the evil bad guys, the kingdoms become perfect once more. This may be slight hyperbole but I think it often holds true. I find it cheap, ruling isn’t easy, I want the rulers and kingdom to be morally ambiguous, even at their best. Luckily, with foreshadowing of internal discord even if those claw marks and footprints were of Jack’s men, and with two rulers, Zou may be more nuanced but I won’t hold my breath. Dressrosa was the epitome of this issue but it at least left us with an explicit question, is peace or safety better? Fishman Island is probably the most nuanced kingdom we visited. Yet Neptune and his family were pretty perfect from what I can remember, it was Hordy who poisoned the well and with him gone, the well purified. Where the nuance lies is in the fact that the two sides of the fishmen, those who want to befriend humans and those who want to reject them were understandable even without Hordy fueling the fire. And further, Fisher Tiger was incredibly morally ambiguous by fighting the devil inside of him and understanding Arlong's hatred; he laid foundation for the arc. It’s not perfect but it does keep the kingdom from feeling too textbook 'good guys and bad guys', with the simple solution of ruling to be, 'kick out the bad guys'.

So obviously, I was rolling my eyes at yet another story of the pristine city of the minks before the bad guy Jack attacked! But when we saw what actually happened, I loved it regardless! When Jack asked for Raizo, I got shivers. It ties everything together and immediately makes this scenario far more complex. It makes the reason why the Straw Hats start out as saviors clear as day. Raizo was supposed to be at Zou, the Wano samurai were supposed to meet him here, yet none of the minks knew him, and they were slaughtered for their ignorance. Firstly, I struggle to believe that one of the admirable Wano men would allow a near genocide to occur for their own safety as they hid. But it does evoke a huge question of where he was in all of this and why Kaido wants him. The people fought hard but they ended up losing and Monji, the elder looking monkey, won my heart. He is how one keeps the peace, he first tried to make an agreement and then, once showing the mink’s strength, put another deal on the table. Meet with our king and save the troops that would fall on both of our sides. Yet the diplomacy was rejected, one of Kaido’s three disasters does not need to bend to the requests of their foes. Instead he declared all out war on the kingdom, all for a man who they have suspicion was even there to begin with. The “disaster” comment was huge by the way, if he is the right hand man to Kaido and there are only two others of his title, then that makes the steps to Kaido as simple as one, two, three.

Outside of the brilliant way this all tied together, with the Samurai not being able to tell their mission to Luffy and being separated to keep the tension, the implications of this became evident. As Brook said, to declare that the samurai are teamed up with the kingdom’s saviors would create a Caesar-esque situation. It’s a nasty coincidence, Luffy declared war on Kaido when taking out Caesar and Doffy, but Kaido did not pursue Sanji after attempting to save Doffy. Rather, Jack came here for the samurai who they happened to meet on Punk Hazard because Caesar took Momonosuke. That coincidence would not be easily understood, the minks would rather see the people they treated as near royalty as the place of blame for the slaughter of their people. “One of you was supposedly here and it caused this to occur, and you acted like you saved us?! You did this to us to begin with!” is the response I would expect. Unfortunately, only the audience can predict Luffy after 700 episodes apparently so no one even thought that the man who literally cannot lie and has a big mouth would blurt something out. That was a slight irritation to me, yet, at the same time I had to ask why Luffy would be so ignorant to what was happening here. When passing the destroyed city he immediately tapped into what was going on and the seriousness of the situation. Did he have an ulterior motive to be so happy and reveal the situation? At least the monkey should have befriended the samurai on the way up, that should be one potential voice for their favour.

Lastly, seeing Law smile openly; that is, without his hat shadowing his eyes like the brooding little emo he is, was so adorable. We could see how much he loved his crew. He may not shout and jump around like Luffy but the difference in him was shocking to me. To hug Bepo with a smile that is explicit and clear was the cutest thing I've ever seen. The Heart pirates are a family too and they thought they may never have seen each other again.

Jack's probably an Ancient Type Zoan user instead of being an actual mammoth while his men are SMILE users considering how freaky and incomplete their transformations were. I wonder what Jack would look like as a human, hm.

I'm very curious about why everyone at Zou can emit electricity to fight. I think that it has something to do with static electricity caused by their fur but I'd love an explanation about that along with many other things in this arc soon.

I hope that they'll be able to clear the misunderstanding about the samurai of Wano being bad guys since Kin'emon doesn't really strike me as one even though the Beast Pirates are after his friend.
