Pretty sure Favaro is in jail, ED and PVs say this! Check his face in first and second PV, and in PV 3 we see that Nina was in jail too..

And about Azazel does he really need a reson to kill people?

My problem with this anime is that I really can't see Azazel in an heroic (even if anti-heroic) position.

Last season he was the quintessential card calling villain, killing Favaro's father for the lulz, royally fucking Favaro and Kaisar's lives.
Murder and torture were perfectly ok to him when humans were the victims.
And now whe should just accept him in an heroic role because demons are oppressed, without half a comment of self-reflection about his past?

No can do.

Azazel is definitely still a sadistic and murdering bastard. Just because he's doing something that's considered heroic doesn't mean he has to act like it. Pretty sure episode 2 dispelled the notion of that with exhibit a) the awful way he treated Nina and b) just look at how slowly he stuck that knife into the noble while Kaisar looked on.

And another point to b? He's still perfectly okay with murdering and torturing humans. He hates what's happening to demons because it's a taste of his own medicine with what he used to do (and still does, actually) with humans.

While episode 2 does justify his actions, it doesn't mean he's suddenly a quintessential heroic action figure bent on saving the world while being a polite and kindly Mother Teresa. Of course, if the show does decide to take him down the route of an eventual hero, I'm all for it, because so far it's doing it in a realistic and palatable way (insofar as I can see).

I'm loving this! Never expected all those reactions from Azazel just being around Nina. And I like how she is a happy go lucky strong girl character!
Can't wait to see how are they going to make Favaro appear in this story.

So Nina originates from a village of human-form dragons.

"We loved to instill fear in humans" They should have expected, that it bites them in the ass one day.

Azazel wants Nina's power, but she doesn't care about his vendetta.

Kaisar is right: Azazel's behaviour will only give birth to more hate.

Riiitaaaa Punch! She's as great as ever.

Azazel's companion is a god. Interesting.

Yep, definitely much darker than season one.

Also, while I like Nina as a character, and that she provides at least some of the comedic relief that was so abundant in season one, her storyline does distract from the story I actually want to follow, which is about Kaisar's impendent rebellion.

I think Azazel, finding him, assumed he was a demon, but he actually is an angel. He lost his wings and his ability to speak, so Azazel probably just couldn't tell.

Still needs to be explained as to why Kaiser has never graduated from being a king's lapdog, but I'm sure there's a perfectly valid reason... hopefully....

He has, he has become captain of the Orlean knights. It's just that "king's lapdog" is as much as any ordinary nobleman could hope to achieve.

Still wondering about how Kaisar and Favaro got separated from Rita though, even after watching the OVA's, and what happened to Jeanne, especially after the second OVA. Even without the current situation, character maturation, and overall darker tone, Kaisar appears to have become much more sombre, depressed even, than in both season one and the OVA's. I wonder what has happened during those ten years.

Interesting: a new race is introduced through the heroin, and the little demon boy is apparently some angel/divine being with rather strong abilities.
Overall, a good second episode though I would have prefered the usual double episodes start since this is a full-length series.

4/5

I wonder if sometimes during this 24 episodes series, messages desparately calling back protagonists of the previous adventure will cease.

Great episode overall, loved it. I feel bad for the demons really, sucks to see them being slaves and being tortured. Azazel isn't in the wrong with what he want's to do. That said, Nina is still cute and funny as ever. Also the OP was awesome, I like it a lot. The ED was really cute too.

I got a kick seeing Rita and her hand clean up the place after Nina woke up and when she punched Azazel saying: "I thought you were a rag demon, not a nag demon"

Can't wait for next episode!

Man, I missed this series! S2 is great, I'm loving it so far. I also find the switch with the whole good and evil perspectives is really nice (even if Azazel is still a big asshole lol). Since Azazel is paired with a "holy child", I feel like the plot is heading in the direction of demons teaming up with the angels to defeat the evil humans lmao. Can't wait to see where the story will go!

I didn't like the OP either. Season 1's OP is a masterpiece in comparison, I don't think I've ever skipped it in fact.
This one however, I think I'll be skipping it a lot, which is a shame.

Well, at least we have a fantastic ED to compensate for that.

New OP is okay, especially the animation is amazing, although song-wise the first one was much better. The ending on the other hand, ughhh just give me back Amira's ballade T_T

I was surprised to see that Nina is from a dragon village, I thought he was just a normal human randomly turning into one. That sounds a bit refreshing. Especially since it seems that she tuns into dragon form whenever she sees a hot guy :D

Also, it looks like Azazel an the other kid (seriously, I was sure it was a girl at first lolz) will be joining the main crew, and that's awesome, I won't say no to the sexy demon in latex voiced by Morita-san :>

I was hoping to see Favaro this week though, and judging by lack of him in the opening sequence, we won't see him right away, sadly... If not for this thread I wouldn't even notice that he was in the ending lol.

and so Nina is from a dragon village/race, i thought she will be somehow linked to Amira since Amira fused with another dragon that is Bahamut

New OP and ED are both awful, but the episode itself was pretty good. Slower, for sure, but when there's 24 episodes I'm not really worried about that at point. After all, this episode seemed to be all about dispelling the notion that Azazel is supposed to be heroic, as he's doing exactly the same kind of things as in Genesis, except now he's motivated by revenge rather than simply doing it because he can. Kaisar's position in this new conflict between demons and humans is much more interesting to me, even though I cannot see it ending well for him at all.

Legit one of the few good animes this season, by far better than most of last season with few exceptions like Konsuba S2, Gintama etc... but most were kinda bland. This, however, has much better pacing and already introduced well flesh out character with some help of the previous season but also not heavily relying on S1 genesis. Just hope they don't go that route because after ep 4 it went down quality fast like that dancing scene with Amria and a fun Mexican kinda fight similarities with The Book of Life i know its came out same year so pure coincidence but still pretty good. But Season 1 went too much about gods and shit and became kinda boring and predictable but this has those same elements of demons and gods etc... but much more grounded and doesn't bore me kinda similar to Magi in a sense.

I seem to be one of the few who DIDN'T like the opening. Season one was WAY better.

But I really love the ED. Even though I don't think it fits much.

Something about the episode really felt off. I don't think it was the pacing... but I really can't seem to place it.

Good to see that Kaiser's sense of justice extends to demons too.

Also, aren't the humans justified in their enslaving of the demons? Didn't the demons ROYALLY fuck up the humans AND unleash Bahamut?

Nina is really unlikeable character in the series, even the other quieter one has more charm than her. She's just there imitating Favaro.

In a sense, I can understand nearbaskara... Favaro served as the main comic relief in the Genesis part and now, we see a rad girl being the one bringing the laughs. So far, she's not even up to Favaro's charisma. I won't judge her but if this season persist on making a girl character take over the position of a fan favorite, well, remember PsychoPass 2 and you'll know what I mean.

Well, we have Kaisar, and Favaro. There's the King which I'm sure he'll receive more screentime. Jeanne is there too. Give it time, it's a 24 episodes series. If you've liked the first season, this is just more of the same, and I'm sure it'll only get better from here.

I like the portrayal of Azazel so far. He has heroic ideals due to his race being oppressed by the ones they were supposed to oppress but he's still depicted as the sadistic and lecherous demon we know. It's not trying to make us empathize with him deeply and root for him but rather just look at things from his perspective.

Nina is a new favorite of mine. Her energetic and bubbly aura is a refreshing addition in this otherwise, chaotic world they live in. The way Azazel was seriously trying to bring her to their side but all she's doing is act flustered by his good looks was so much fun to see. I mean, I can't even blame her for that. The show is teeming with hot guys. I'm all for Free or Kuroko no Basket-esque style of bishounen but Shingeki no Bahamut's men's designs are by far the best I've seen.

Also Rita throwing in some puns. She never fails to amuse me.

It seems like my opinion of the OP is an unpopular one. I prefer the first season's more. The pre-chorus just sounds too plain to me. The only part I liked from the whole song was the chorus. The ED is better than the first season's though. It's cute and I like how it contrasts the OP.

I'm enjoying this show as much as I did from the first season. I hope MAPPA stays consistent for the whole 24 episodes. The first season was totally unexpected considering this is adapted from a mobile card game. It's good to know that they're actually exerting effort into this.

oh nice. The opening is from SiM again. Not quite as good as the last one but still pretty good.

Honestly. Kaisar doesn't look very happy in his current position even though that's the thing he was fighting for all the time

I'm really wondering where this is going. I can see Kaisars argument but in an age like that shit doesn't work that way. Seems like Azazel is at least stopping some of the stuff that is going on. Obviously that won't solve anything in the bigger picture though.

I'm enjoying the story so far, as I LOVED the first seaon.

Just a few questions and things to say:

1. Where's my main man Favaro? I mean, if he's in the promostional posters . . . I hope he comes soon

2. Are we seriosly gonna depend on the female lead to blush hard enough to become a dragon? I can see this as being comedic, but I'm just kind of annoyed that she blushes at any man around her age. It would be kind funny though if she meets Favaro and doesn't blush, or if she blushes more then usual. I like her as a character, but maybe since the previous season had a rather stoic female lead, I guess I'm not that enthusiastic with a immature 16 yr old (?) as the lead, I fele maybe we won't get the same seriousness as in the last season . . .
