that's exactly what I thought too, his voice should not be that low. It's high and similar to Shinpachi's

like this.

Yamazaki of old compared to this week's episode sounds so different

Just like everyone else, I noticed Yamazaki's change in voice pitch. I can't say for certain if it's a seiyuu change, but the voice is noticeable different. This episode kinda sounds like the seiyuu's normal voice.

Yea maybe it is his normal voice and the one we're used to is his animated one. Still... when you're used to it for so many years, it throws you for a loop.

By the way I went back to listen to it, and I'm 95% sure it's the same seiyuu

idk how they'll fit 2 action chapters in 1 full episode
Tbh, the 5th chapter of the arc is just as dialogue heavy as the 3rd and 4th chapter. The last chapter of the arc is mostly heavy on dialogues besides two or three pages. Honestly, I think that they can fill up the episode with the two chapters. And if that's not enough, then they can have a Ginpachi-sensei segment to pad things out.
There is the same amount of bubbles, but the actual words are smaller and their is more in the first 1-4 chapters than chapter 5 and 6(where most of the words are in big font and don't have much words in the bubbles), but damn we need 13 Episodes if we're getting the one shots

Haha Berserk and FF (Cloud) was hilarious.

Also this high level fighting with poop was exactly what I expect from Gintama. Even the last few seconds of actual fighting was very nice too.

So here is another episode which will lead me to getting muted again on messenger by my friends after I send some screen shots of this episode.

That poop duel was amazing. I'm glad these skipped chapters are getting animated before the final season because this is totally worth watching! The episode where Hasegawa (madao) was trying to commit suicide, and these last 2 episodes were the best of this season so far for me.

It's so surprising that Gintama is still funny, even after so many years. I know these are not the latest chapters, but still amazing. Other comedy shows become so much more boring after many years.

Poop humour was very childish. Also, why does this show has to explain every reaction to me over dramatically? Like they want to punch it into my brain that this scene is supposed to be funny? But if it's not funny at that point then it's not gonna get funny by yelling more.

Why not start watching the anime since the beginning?

Well.. it's just a lot of episodes and for what I understand this show doesn't have an over arching plot so I'm not going to miss anything necessarily. Am I wrong? I did watch 4 episodes of the first season but that's over 10 years old at this point and the pacing is a lot slower so it's just very boring for me to watch. And everyone tells me that the first about 40-50 episodes are "bad" anyway so I figured I'll watch this new season while it's fresh.

That's where your wrong. The series does have an overarching plot. Last season was nothing but serious plot, with brutal fight scenes, death, and drama. All of which has been led up to by the rest of the series. Not only that, but the first 50 episodes aren't "bad", the first 30 are slow and character introduction heavy, after that though most agree it's great- and constantly improving. But here's the thing, if you don't watch it from early on, you are NOT gonna enjoy it. Or at least no where near as much. What makes the series amazing is its cast of characters, how they grow together, and without going through the series- you aren't gonna get it. For example, your complaints sound crazy to people who have watched the series, cause the comedy style has existed since the beginning, and the show itself has went over how it works. Likewise for the potty humor complaint, Gintama has always had it- and it's always waaaaay funnier than potty humor has any right to be. Finally, by skipping you won't get the long running jokes, such as shinpachi's soul BEING his glasses, which came up this episode. You probably didn't find it funny, but long term fans know how much shinpachi gets beat over the head with that, so we find it hilarious.

what the guy above me says, and you have to sit through the first 25-30 episodes.
youre missing sooo much drama action and awesome characters right now..
but there's one other thing you can do, early episodes are all character introductions and you have to sit trough them, but the first 2 episode which are filler, introduces a lot of them. they're boring as hell, and i recommend you to start from episode 3 and go on, but if you don't want to, you can watch the first 2 episode and then skip like 20. except ep 12, this one has an important flash back.
but you may not like the comedy at all, to know that go on youtube and search for gintama best moments or funniest moments. if you found them good and laughed,
then its comedy is for you but you have to be a bit patient. if you didn't, come here and tell us we can help you to only watch more important episodes and arcs and watch the show in like 60 episodes instead of 335 (so far)
and for next week episodes another gag that you probably don't know about, sough hates hijikata and gintoki is always messing with hijikata.

edit: but don't be lazy on gintama if you liked the comedy, or else you won't feel the characters and their death and relationships like we do..gintama is an amazing show, even if it takes you 6 months to watch it, do it, it totally worth it. my favorite episodes are not any of these action drama or comedy heavy episodes we're getting now, even though they're awesome, my favorites are the ones like 2nd half of ep 111, or the one where catherine finds love, but he turns out to be a douche.

Thanks for the advice! (also crystalblade13 before you!) I did not know there was an overarching plot. I figured the show was something like the anime version of South Park, where most of the gags are pop culture references. And I did watch the 4 first episodes which seemed very episodic in nature. But maybe I'll take the first season for a project at some point since you tell me there is an important plot... it's just that my plan to watch list is huge and I would really like to get some shorter shows out of the way so to speak before starting longer stuff. So we'll see.

Oh and I actually got the glasses joke even without knowing the backstory :'D because the point of every megane character is the glasses. I also enjoy the dirty humor in the show and I have seen some "best of" scenes in clips so I know this show has something for me, but it doesn't seem to be every episode. This newest episode bothered me because there's a huge contrast between the mature sex jokes and the censored poop jokes. Like, I didn't really get why the poop was rainbow colored but the sex jokes and butt sword stuff was not covered etc.

this weeks animation was amazing. and we finally got a good art style. they finally looked like they always have. i loved the fight between sougo and gintoki. loved their mischievous smiles when fighting. this weeks art style was less shiny. but it was amazing no more of those weird faces and expressions. i hated that the fight was left halfway. i wanted to see the whole fight in one go. maybe they rerun the last 2 minutes of this ep in the beginning of next week..and the preview looked awesome too! next week will also have the same animation and art style! yes!

too many colorful poos :)))
and berserk..i was kinda hoping he fights with the berserk sword, was disappointed but laughed :))) ( but god, that would've been awesome!)

what was with yamazaki? his V.A changed? i've been told he will be awesome in the last arc, i hope he keeps the same v.a from before :/

no it's nothing like south park. the comedy is usually episodic or 2-3 episode long, but this is a good thing i believe. you can watch just one episode after a long day and not worrying about getting caught up in the story and end up watching 30 episodes.

you can watch one episode of gintama at a time in between all those shows.

well the sex joke where mostly innuendos not the real thing and it wasn't disgusting, but making the poop rainbowy mad it kinda funny and less disgusting considering the fact that they land on people faces and heads. and they still apologized in case we were eating while watching the show :))) but as far as i remember poops were always censored ( in raster graphic like the way penises are censored ) and poops were kinda important this episode so i guess that's why they made it colorful. they wouldn't be brown they would've been in raster graphic.

I'm so happy to see Gin vs. Sougo...I've been waiting to see it since the beginning so this arc is a treat!
Can't believe the sword actually possessed Okita though.

Gintoki's transformations were sublime, the randomness of his narration was hilarious. Still, no easy day for his ass. At least Kusanagi settled for Gintoki's hip, for the time being.

It seems that dog owners of Edo are exceedingly irresponsible, the riverbank was downright filthy. Their wrongdoings provided plenty of amusement for the viewers, though.

the poop battle was so fucking childish and low brow it has no right being as funny as it did, the misdirection going into it followed by just how much it kept escalating made what would of been a pathetic joke in a different show hysterical here.

I kind of wish this arc went a bit differently though, i much prefer the idea of sougo staying in control and just being a nutcase rather than him being taken over already.

Berserk and Cloud from FFVII in one episode, perfect. Funny since I was just playing FFIV (not VII) on iOS last night.

Sougo's an ass even to a cursed, cannibalistic sword.

That lady's dog makes colorful, cute poop. Must be an Amanto dog.

That shit battle was fucking hilarious, loved Shinpachi's straight man comments, it made this ten times better. He's the best straight man in the series with Daisuke Sakaguchi voicing him.

Sougo did get possessed after all, what weak resolve. This is why he's nothing but shit underneath Gintoki's heel.

Sougo taking out that dude with 1 backwards stab was badass.
Loved it when Gin pulled his wooden sword out of that huge scabbard.

Wondering if Sougo is really possessed by the evil sword? Seemed to be completely in control of it earlier. Hmmm.
