Dam those Ping Pong matches were intense and awesome. Kazuma is pretty scary with those dragon image, and Kong lost in the process. A little character development for Kong though.

I'm hoping for a match between Smile and Kazuma.

Now I'm really annoyed that Smile lost to Wenge, because it was completely pointless. Wenge lost to Ryuuichi and didn't get into Inter-High anyway! I wouldn't be so frustrated if Wenge won, because that would mean that Tsukimoto's sacrifice at least meant something.

No, no, no. Smile doesn't lose because he thinks there is a point, but rather because Smile sees himself as being a hero and hero's don't defeat the weak. Smile sacrificed nothing when he lost to Wenge, indeed he probably didn't even think about that, indeed the reason why Wenge lost was because he KNEW that Smile gave him the match so winning was pointless. That this happens reflects positively on both characters. Even Kazuma understood this (which is why he is even more keen on getting Smile to his school).

i swear the guy animating/drawing this was on acid, nevertheless i do enjoy it.

I liked the bit with Wenge and his coach after he lost, chines/mandarin is such a peaceful language to listen to.

I didn't like this episode as much as the previous two but that's okay seeing as this was still boss. I can't wait to see where it goes from here.

I wonder what the importance of that girl is. Does Kong's loss actually meant anything to Smile? You just can't tell with that guy.

every week im loving this show more and more and it's on 4 episodes in. kazama's match was one of the most exciting contests i've seen in a sports anime it gave me a similar feeling to watching a great fight in a shounen like hunter x hunter. not to mention all the great dialogue with the old coach and the old lady and also kong and his coach...just amazing. easy 5/5 episode

But today I checked the accumulated and predicted points of the whole animations this season, it goes well........( beyond my imagination ^.^)

Good episode.

Peco needed to lose one time, so he can see that he's not the best there is and that he has to improve himself too. Still sad seeing him crying alone at the end, i thought Smile should at least go home together with him.

Sad to see Kong lose, Kazama really looked like a Titan^^ I guess we won't be seeing Kong around anymore, I actually liked him. It was nice to hear some Mandarin in anime for a change which also made it more realistic.

I'm not sure why Kaio is still regarded as high school lol.

Peco being lost is a good thing, he underestimated his opponents too much. I hope he would improve later.

I wonder if Smile is going to accept the inv or not, since he has quitted the club.

Another great episode overall, glad i picked up this series.

In what world is this 5 frames per second animation with crappy looking art great? Also, around 13:05, Kong's shot clearly hit Kazama's side of the table TWICE, yet Kazama was allowed to return it and score the point. Really unbelievable and egregious error by the animators.

While the 'animation' gives me eye-cancer, I can't but get interested in the story. Lately I've been into sports anime, so there's that, but Ping Pong has something unique to it that draws me in. Once again, eye cancer is almost guaranteed, but hell, it's worth it.

and here are some explanations and my comments....
1. the beginnings of selling of different animation series are not at the same day...And till now (only?)JoJo has not come to sell ( I guess it could rank in the 2nd place → 20000~ 30000);

2. Love live is a bug wwwwwww → personally I don't like this kind of culture of adoring idols.

3. Some BD/DVDs are sold with special things. For example, the opportunity to get free tickets to some related events ( like voice actors'....parties). These series contain Haikyuu, Captain earth, Kamigami and so on.

4. The predicted pts are just predictions that accumulated until the release day. The nearer to the really release day, the more accurate the prediction will be.

5. As ping pong's release day is 27th Aug. It is really far away =.=!!! And it's being sold as completed box =.=!!!

6.The ranks could change every single day, but it won't change too much day from day....

Peco vs. Akuma and Wenge vs. Kazama made me feel anxious. It was like I was playing the match myself. The dragon symbolism was interesting. I didn't expect Wenge to lose to be honest, but this opens the door for further development to his character

Yea but then Wenge loses in the end so there was no point to Smile's intentional loss; maybe there will be a big development between the two but Smile's sympathy has no reasoning anymore

Smile didn't lose the match so that Wenge could win the tournament. Smile did not "sacrifice" anything.

Had Smile wanted to win the tournament, then maybe it would have been a sacrifice. But Smile did not care about the tournament. Once he knew he could beat Wenge (and Wenge knew this as well), Smile lost all interest in the game and since it meant more to Wenge to win than it did to Smile, Smile had no problem letting Wenge win.

In short he didn't lose so Wenge could win, he lost so he wouldn't be the one who beat Wenge. That was his goal.

-I loved the flashback of Peco protecting Smile from Akuma.

-Smile really is a sharp tongued bastard.

-Tamura and Butterfly Joe go way back, I hope we get to see some of their backstory eventually.

- Akuma to Peco: "Times are changing". Foreshadowing that Peco's view of the world is about to change. Smile is no longer that kid that can't stand up for himself, Peco is no longer the instinctually talented Ping Pong Player that can mow over all his foes.

A little later in the match Peco says to Akuma "Let's play speed, like we did in the old days". Peco is just as stuck in his mindset as Smile seemingly was. But at least Smile HAS changed.

- Akuma gets Peco tired. Remember all those practices that Peco cut so he could hustle the other kids at the ping pong hall? Those practices were largely stamina based.

- During China vs Dragons match we get a glimpse of the ghetto that Kong comes from. For him Ping Pong is something that lead him to a good life instead of living in abject poverty.

- The animation and stylistic choices during China vs Dragons match was amazing.

- I wonder who that shadowy figure with the mask, trench coat, and hat is. They seem to be related to Dragon in some shape or form.

- "Ryuichi and Yuria are cousins"

Great episode. Can't wait for next weeks.

The talk between Wenga and his coach was really touching. The way his coach smiled him during the match too, it was like he was telling him : ''You did your best''.

It was a bit obvious that Peko would lose, he surestimate himself way too much.
