Yearly summaries of your Anime and Manga Lists has been a long requested feature—and this year we were finally able to implement it!
We firmly believe that your watching and reading history throughout the entire year matters (we all know the holidays are a great time for binging!), so it has always been our plan to release this feature in early January. Maybe that makes us later than some others... but let's say fashionably late, 'kay? ;)
That said, and this is important... Your MAL Wrap-Up will only be as accurate as your list updating was! We're not Spotify, and the only person who can tell us what you watched in 2025 is you.
So if you watched things in 2025 but haven't added them to your list yet, go do that now~
And if you added things to your list in 2025 that you actually watched in 2024 or earlier, then keep reading this post!
The wrap-up page will be updated daily for two weeks after launch (and then view-only after that), so you will be able to make some fine-tune adjustments after seeing the results. But there's no time like the present!
If any of these examples apply to you, keep reading:
You joined MAL in 2025 and added all the anime you've ever seen without Start/End dates
— In this case, we have no way to tell which anime you watched in 2025 and which you didn't
— Use the guide below to add Start/End dates to your list for the anime your didn't watch in 2025
— Adding even only an End year (e.g. 2024) to entries you did not watch this year will help
— That said, if you can add a bit more accurate months/years, it may come in handy in the future (aside from wrap-up)
You finished Fall 2024 seasonals in Dec 2024, but with the busy holidays, you forgot to set them as Completed until Jan 2025
— This happens to me all the time...
— When you set the anime from Watching to Completed, the final episode will be logged in your watch history (so Jan '25)
— To avoid these series appearing in your wrap-up, use the guide below to add at least an End date to those anime
You binged an anime last summer, but just realized in Feb 2025 that it wasn't set to Completed in your list
— Same as above
You watched an anime movie with family/friends two years ago, but just noticed in Mar 2025 that it wasn't in your list
— This also happens to me all the time...
— Since the only date we will have is when you added it to your list, we have no way to know you watched it in 2023
— To avoid this movie appearing in your wrap-up, you'll need to add an End date using the guide below
You finished Chainsaw Man and added it to your list in 2022, but after watching the movie, you decided to +1 your score in Oct 2025
— You don't need to do anything!
— Since it was on your list as Completed on Dec 31, 2024, then we know you didn't watch it in 2025
How to Fix Forgotten List Updates for Wrap-Up
For anime you added or set to Completed in 2025 (but you actually watched in 2024 or earlier!), you're going to add Start/End dates.
Also, these dates don't need to be very exact! Simply adding a year (e.g. 2022) or a month and year (e.g. June 2024) will be enough for the system to know to exclude it.
Step 0: Turn on Start/End dates column in List Preferences
— Desktop only
— Go here: https://myanimelist.net/editprofile.php?go=listpreferences
— Enable Start/End dates and click submit.
— You can also make Air dates visible if you know you watched the anime while it was airing.
Step 1: Sort your list by Last update
— Desktop
— Go to your Anime List, click Filters, and then Sort by Last Updated (Desc)
— Mobile
— I recommend getting our app, because it will be much easier: https://myanimelist.net/mal_app
— If you don't want to use the app, then you'll need to edit your username into this link:
— App
— Go to your Anime List, click Filters, and then Sort by Last Updated
Step 2: Look for anything you know you didn't watch this year (or set to Completed late)
— Plan to Watch will appear here, but you can ignore those entries
Step 3: Click edit on that anime and add Start/End dates (if they don't exist yet)
— Remember, simply adding a year (e.g. 2022) or a month and year (e.g. June 2024) will be enough
— Desktop
— Click Edit beside the title and enter the dates in the pop-up which appears
— The "History" link will show you the dates you pressed the + ep button or set the anime to Completed
— You can also write Notes about the anime, if you wish~
— Mobile
— Make sure you're in tile view, and then tap edit on the top-left of the cover
— Tap Edit Detailed Info
— This will take you to the Desktop version of the Edit page, so you'll need to pinch to zoom
— App
— Tap Edit to the right of the title, and then enter your dates
— On the right, you can see the dates the anime aired (in case you watched it seasonally)
THANK YOU for mentioning starting/finishing dates.
It's a very useful feature that people don't seem to use.
Completion dates are inputed automatically if you click the "Set as Completed?" prompt, but starting dates are a bit more complicated.
Regarding anime, many months ago I inputed all that I could to the best of my effort.
Granted, for some older stuff I only knew the year.
Absolutely stellar! Looking forward to this! I think I watched more anime this year than I have any other year. Thank you for all the hard work in making this a reality! ^^
A question: I know my list this year is accurate already, and I +1 every seasonal I'm watching, so I don't need to make some adjustments there. But what about finished airing titles from years prior that I completed this year? Do I need to adjust the year or am I good?
Thanks in advance.

Wow, I like this! :D I'm hyped to see my yearly wrap. :) Good job, MAL!
I know I've watched a ton of different anime in 2025, so I'm excited to see all that data. However, my manga updates in 2025 are kinda dead, and One Piece is the only manga I've been updating on my manga list, hahaha! 😆😛😅
this one's a meh/don't care for me. y'all have fun with it though. you get 3 decades into anime... 'when, where, how, why, huh?' all turns into 'i don't remember and i don't need to remember because i don't care anymore'. ya just remember if you liked it, didn't, and a few elements of how you came to that decision. i remember my very 1st anime... and that's all i need to know. every other date in-between is useless to me. or i can look it up on MAL or other places online and so on and so forth.
but congrats to the folks working on it. may it be entirely un-buggy, un-wonky, and work exactly how you designed it. and i hope the folks looking forward to this wrap up thingy get a fun product that operates correctly and entertains and/or informs them.
just an ol school American otaku enjoyin the life. don't sass me kiddies, i've been otaku probably since before you were born. leave me in peace and i won't bother you either.
So cool! This comes in handy since I've lately been thinking about keeping track of my past/new anime/manga activity myself, considering also that this might be the year I've watched anime the most. My fussy and accurate way of updating my list will be worth it
This is such a fun idea, looking forward to it! I think I only watched seasonal anime this year and hardly any manga so I'm curious what kind of results I'd get, haha
so I will have to add 'date/year' for every anime I watched this year , manually? to get this?
@HinataBloom
You only have to do it on entries you added to your list this year but watched earlier. Let's say you actually finished a show in 2023 but set it to completed today. That entry will count as watched today if you don't edit the dates, because that's when you added it/edited episodes watched. The rest are fine! It's just to fix inaccuracies.

@iShipMyFriends ohh okay, understood. but we have to have the 'start/end' feature on??
I just turned it on after reading this post. and did went through few titles I had watched earlier but added this year to fix their dates.

@HinataBloom
You just had to turn it on to make it easier to edit your dates! It's all still saved on the entry so you can remove that column after you're done. The feature is always on, the setting is just for what will be visible when viewing your list.
An exciting feature we've hoped for for a long time! Yay! Too bad I didn't watch a lot this year, so I expect my MAL Wrap-Up to be not very interesting, but maybe that will encourage me to watch more for 2026! I'm glad I've always been consistent about adding start and completion dates!
