I've always found it really tedious to watch anime movies.
I have no problem when it comes to a 20 minute episode but when it is 2 hours I get tired and bored half way. Can you relate?

Probably because you're watching something continuously for 2 hours? With a 20 minutes episode, you can take a break every time you finished an episode. But with a movie, you gotta keep up with the movie otherwise you're starting to lose track of what's going on.

I paused a lot when watching an episode or a movie, so the difference doesn't feel that significant to me.

Yeah i can relate to this. For some reason i get tired little faster when watching movie than usual TV series.

Sometimes, when i get sleepy i decide to sleep and watch rest of movie later.

Yes. Movies are far more enjoyable when it comes to real ones. Anime movie despite being an hour and half feels too long lol. ig I am just used to watching Anime with 20 min per ep. The length of an average anime episode is why I prefer Anime over TV-series because an average TV-Series episode takes like 50+ minutes which gets exhausting

If it's not from a series I already know I'd definitely have a hard time watching it. But it still depends if the movie can carry its own weight.

Not usually no. I actually get more relaxed watching a movie because I don't have to skip OPs and EDs every new episode. I only really get fidgety when the movie is bad and I just want it to end.

Yes, when I watch anime I don't often know how much time I'll have exactly so it's easier to commit to, where as if its a movie I'm more likely that I'll to have to stop it in the middle

Yeah pretty often, that's probably because I rarely watch more than 4 episodes in a row, so if a movie has longer runtime I can lose interest halfway. That's why I often divide long movies into parts and take 2-3 days to finish them. It's not like I don't like movies, I just have shitty attention span.

I don't often experience this unless I find the movie boring, or if I get sleepy.

Agreed with @animeizboring , I can watch an anime movie without getting bored but don't have enough drive to watch a lot of such movies , in fact I have watched only a single anime movie , perhaps I should try others that are really famous

I feel the same. From the top 40 movies there are 14 standalone ones; I watched all of them except Hotarubi no Mori e, and I was often disappointed (8 out of 13 rated 6 or less).

The main issue is that I don't have any qualms dropping a series after one episode, but when it comes to movies I'm used to watch till the end even when I realise I'm not liking it.

I think the only time I find it hard for me to watch anime movies is when I've found a series that I'm interested in, or I want a longer story.

Kinda hard i guess. It does get boring after some time if I watch a movie but if it's a good movie from a series i like then it makes it easier.

In my opinion, movies have been the best form of animes. But I can say for myself that there were many times that a movie was so difficult to watch. Boredom and dragging are main reasons that movies have been difficult to watch on straight.

When I get bored of watching something, it's because of content, not because of lenght of anime

As above, if I'm getting bored it's because of the content and not the length of the piece. The good thing about movies is that they can tell a full story over 2 hours instead of 6 hours and there's no filler.

anime movies are boring most of the time, probably another reason why a lot people are watching other medium of things and have letterboxd account to update their movies list which isn't just anime.

I will never, ever get seeing watching or reading something long that can potentially give you reflection, broaden your knowledge and help you leave your comfort zone as difficult or bad, or dismissing it out of intimidation (or dismissing almost anything in life out of intimidation, really; definitely not a habit you want to have).
Oh well, I can't expect people to have the same profound resolution that I find from anime and especially manga.

What Theo1899 said, though. Just as shitty anime like Violet Whatevergarden and Maken-ki! Two bore me, shitty movies do as well. (note that shitty is just my opinion here so don't get your panties in a wet bunch please)

Yes, I'm exactly like you. The one problem I have with movies is idk when I have to stop if I don't like the start of it but I easily drop anime series in their first (or even halfway of their first) episode

I tend to avoid them and prefer watching an anime. I don't know why maybe it's the pacing or something. I can watch a lot of episodes if I want so it's weird. If I watch an anime movie it's because I really like the show it's from, most of the time.

only when they aren't in theaters, otherwise not really. When I have them on blu ray, it can be hard because I have to take time out of my day. When it's in theaters, usually a limited release, it becomes more like an event that I have to go see. This is generally with most movies though, not necessarily anime films specifically.

I have no problem watching anime movies, BUT shows will always be superior to movies. The thing that can kill a movie automatically is pacing and trying to cram everything in. That'll usually make me confused and/or lose interest cause I have no idea what is going on. Usually, I just turn my brain off for movies and j try to enjoy it. Did that with "I Want to Eat Your Pancreas” and it's my 2nd highest-rated anime. But yeah, I can definitely see why people think it's hard to watch anime movies. Especially if you watch one in theaters and decide you don't like it, you paid money so you become conflicted on whether you want to stay or just leave

Absolutely not they're shorter and more easily completed than a series. I can be done with the whole thing in a hour or two and mark it complete, whereas a series takes anywhere from 6 hours to years to complete depending on how you watch it.

What's really hard is the waiting game you have to play with them for either an official license (streaming or physical copy) or fansubs in your language.

Nooo. The exact opposite, in fact.
I find it much easier to sit down and watch a movie for 2 hours with no distractions than to watch 5 episodes of a TV anime. I'm inevitably gonna get distracted by something else before booting up the next ep

Absolutely. Usually the only movies I have in my list are movies that had a series before it. I think I only have 5 original movies which are Your Name, Tenki No Ko, Howl's, that one cat anime and Sword of the Stranger, which I watched a couple hours ago.

I find it hard to watch something continuously yet for some reason, I'm fine with ending an episode then head straight for the next one. It's like that 6 feet, 5' 12" thing. You feel it takes forever because the duration is more than an hour long but you're fine when you gather 5 consecutive episodes.

I definitely find it hard to watch bad anime movies, but in general I don't have an issue watching them. It's nice to put on a movie for an hour and a half in the evening sometimes. In terms of length, I don't see that as an issue since most are equivalent to 4-6 episodes of a show, just that it tells the beginning, middle and end all in that time.

However, if I'm just not really into it, it can sit on my list forever until I finally finish it (A Silent Voice was one month and Grave of the Fireflies roughly a year; same thing happens with shows but they tend to stay even longer since, often in those cases, the larger time commitment is more of the issue than the quality). What I do now with movies to prevent that is just finish it in one sitting so that it can be over with.

If you're somehow able to get through a typical western cinematic film without any trouble, then your excuses for not being able to get through the entirety of an anime movie is pretty much moot.

Yes it did happen to me when i watched Nakitai Watashi wa Neko wo Kaburu (A Whisker Away). When im at halfway, i didn't know if i like it or not, because i haven't see anything interesting yet. Then i rest my back into sofa and suddenly fell asleep. So my view of a particular movie could be bad because i'm sleeping so i can't catch everything on it, even though it's a good anime movie.
