Hanasakeru Seishounen - my first "proper" dropped anime I decided to include in the list. Reverse Harem genre'a was never good nor popular - a lot of them are based on otome games, which are adapted poorly [tho some are more enjoyable than others - I still like them, I just don't put my expectations high] just to promote the game. The ones adapted from a manga, tend to be a little more popular [some of them iconic], tho most of them are older titles [never or barely completed] or the new ones, everybody knows already. Still the genre'a is dead and was always dead. [only 78 titles, while harem has 485 titles] - so I decided to try watching everything from the genre'a and happily giggle to all the pretty man on screen. [tbh it is funny that my mean score for everything is 7.72, while for reverse harem's it drops to 6.98] [and I watched 41 of them for now] so I looked at Hanasakeru with some expectations - at least higher than typicall Otome adaptations and well... I was unhappy to say the least. [which is rare for me, even more rare to drop it half-way] Kajika our pretty heroine, needs to participate in a game to find her future husband. [three guys were chosen by her father and she will know instantly who they are etc. etc.] - the problem is from the 1st episode of the anime I already knew who's going to win the game and no it wasn't spoiled to me. It's just obvious that the only guy that isn't the participant in the game will be chosen in the end. The rest of the show are politics [which I like but not in this show I guess], meeting other guys with 0 chemistry for the main heroine that doesn't feel love nor feels flustered nor anything towards any other guy - there's no tension, it doesn't make me blush [and everything makes me blush really XDD], romantic scenes are barely there [and I can expect at least that much from a reverse harem no?] - and it didn't help that I knew the ending from the 1st episode, because It's the most obvious thing ever. Of course both reverse harem's, harem's and love polygon anime tend to be pretty obvious from the start I give them that [tho lately harem genre'a, gave me few surprises with the winners like Gotoubun no Hanayome or World God Only Knows] - but what tends to matter in them is the journey and the journey here is as bland and empty that even I couldn't take it. Doesn't help that it was supposed to be a husband choosing game and the only one doing the choosing is me. So yeah I had hopes, wouldn't call them high but they were there :(( [Eugene Alexandre de Volkan - you deserve better [show] ] Also I'm glad that people enjoyed and I'm jealous, cuz I would like to have fun with this show too XD. |

Love Live Superstar Season 2 and 3. The first season has an amazing story with Kanon being one of the most compelling lead characters ever, and I consider it a classic music anime that appeals to anyone who liked Your Lie in April or similar stories. However, the 2nd season was awful and destroyed the reputation of the subseries, but what's truly disappointing is that I can't completely ignore it because the last two episodes do give meaningful development and closure for Kanon. Season 3, well, it's too safe and predictable to salvage things from Season 2. I guess I could nominate A Place Further Than the Universe because of how much people hyped it up as the most heart-wrenching, life changing experience ever. But really, I already predicted that it was going to be a melodramatic travel ad style narrative, so it met my expectations. Shirase carries the show, while everyone else felt like they were just there. |

Witch Watch, My initial expectations were bad, because I thought it would be the kind of comedy I hate, but the first 2 episodes were fun. Unfortunately, after 2 good episodes, it showed it's true colors and had the kind of comedy I hate, such a letdown. |

The latest letdown would probably be Train to the End of the Universe. It started off with an interesting premise making you think each train stop would be some crazy Twilight Zone world, but it later devolved into something not that deep with dumb humor. |

Shikanoko Nokonoko Koshitantan. Unlike most people I don't hate it, but it didn't turn out to be as good as I hoped at first. At the very least it managed to make me laugh once (episode 10, when the teacher gets eaten by the Venus flytrap) so it's still above average in terms of anime comedy. More recently, Dandadan. I wasn't super impressed by its start but it had the potential to be at least above average, but then it was ruined by the 0/10 romance and the 0/10 comedy. |

Sound! Euphonium (wait hear me out please) I think it's overall a good show, but it feels like the writing quality gradually declined throughout the show. Like watching Season 1 I guessed it would end up being one of my favorite shows of all time. And then I liked season 2 a little bit less, and then I liked season 3 even less than that. So not a disappoint as like it being bad, but just with the last 2 seasons undercutting my expectations set from the first season. |

https://myanimelist.net/anime/52709/Danjo_no_Yuujou_wa_Seiritsu_suru_Iya_Shinai Just not recent probably one of my biggest disappointment in watching anime. Had a good start with first two episodes. Looked like promising love triangle. Two girls were likeble on their own. But at the end of third episode it all came crashing down. The main girl is toxic, insufferable, manipulative piece of shit like never seen before. And the mc is just dragged around on her whims, gaslighted and forced to apologise where she bullies him constantly. While the side girl who is far far better is just kept for "drama". She was honest and nice and she got villainized for that. I can shit talk about this whole day because it made me that much mad.. Honestly idk why I am still watching mix of hate-watch & with the slightest hope justice will be served to that bitch and best girl gets to be happy. But that's plain ol copium. |

Most recently was Shikanoko, which I found fun enough but ultimately it fell flat. I was expecting it to be a funnier and more creative show then it ended up being. After that all I can really think of is Flower And Asura, which had a kind of interesting premise about recitation but the side cast I felt weren't all that well developed and the main plot itself ended up dragging a bit plus a bit of an out of nowhere story arc in the last two or three episodes that felt tonally inconsistent with what had come before. |

Depends what's you metric for letdown. Princess Tutu started as a potential 10/10 in it's first half to finally end as an 8/10, is that a letdown? I gave Cutie Honey a 5/10, but I never expected anything from it. My rewatch of Blackโ Rock Shooter (TV) yielded it a 7/10, though before that it had a 9/10 because I gaslit myself over the years that it was better than it actually was because I had forgotten most of it. Yet at the same time it was an improvement, because as late as 2019 it had a 6/10 score. There's Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha ViVid which I gave a 5/10 and the manga a 4/10 for, with the exception of a few parts, sucking. By the strictest definition, though, that award would have to go to Mahou Shoujo Magical Destroyers, because man, I WANTED to love this, but it is just... weak? The OP and ED promised something huge, yet there was nothing. I still gave it a 6/10 because I loved it's message... but it's execution? The anime simply never clicked. |

Probably Sakamoto Days. I expected a great battle shonen and it was just a pinfully boring show. The characters are bland, the fights are nothing special and the plot is pretty uninspired. |

My most recent letdown was Apocrypha Diaries. I came in expecting a seinen, but found out it is actually a shoujo in source material. Not a fan of bad boy romances so dropped.
@rohan121 Heavy on that. I also expected a good seinen and was met with a pretty boring romance (and I love romances, but this one was not something I presonally liked). |

Kijin Gentosou had some logical issues from the very beginning, but it was still entertaining enough to keep me interested. I was looking forward to the upcoming episodes, but sadly, from episode 2 onward, it took a huge turn, it felt like I was watching a completely different show. I even checked out the manga, and the anime adaptation turned out to be very different from each other. By the time I finished episode 4, I was completely frustrated and ended up dropping it with a pretty bad rating. |

Lady Georgie. Painfully boring. I'll be honest, the vibes were off when the dad died. And before anyone talks about that being a spoiler, it's literally in the synopsis. It went from Disney vibes to internalized misogyny vibes. It's really sad that the only good female characters, aside from the main character of course ^_^ (gag me) are a nun and random shop owner. Basically, they aren't the evil stepmother nor are they competition for Georgie. |

Not really a disappointment but i've recently watched Inuyasha and it wasn't exactly what i was expecting it to be It started off great, first 20 or so episodes were excellent but then the show went downhill for me because of its slow pacing and repetative storyline, where they try to catch Naraku, but he somehow always gets away and does basically nothing except for endlessly creating his incarnations to fight in his place while he can chill in his castle in between this mess they throw a couple filler eps where Inuyasha and his gang fight against other demons/creatures that are after the jewel shards Also backstories get repeated often and you kinda get bored by all of this I liked the show and i think it has a lot of great things in it but if only it wasn't this slow paced and a bit more dynamic it would've been a lot better for me |
