Your list can be a bit crowded at times, and sometimes this calls for deletion. In these instances, what influenced you to delete a certain anime from your list?

I do that only If I had added something by mistake.
I mean the point is to track what you have watched not to make a good looking and presentable list.

I think the only possible anime to delete in my list would be anims in "plan to watch" list..

if somehow i lose interest before watching, or can't finish the 1st episode, i probably gonna delete those anime instead of putting it in the "drop" list.

Try reading Spy x Family Manga ^_^
U will love it, i promise...

Why *would* anyone delete an anime (besides the example above)? The anime list is meant to track your progress.

If I add something to my list that after seeing 5 seconds of it I know I won't enjoy it, I'll delete it, as I don't count that as dropping a show.

I only delete shows on my PTW, and even then it's only shows that I added a long time ago and I'd found out some less than fun details about the show, or for shows I had added for unknown reasons

I don't find much sense either. What is the point?

I deleted Master of Ragnarok from my list. It was the only anime I ever rated 1. I was so irritated whenever I saw it on my list that I decided to delete it after a couple of weeks.

I once added attacker you instead of attack no1, of course I deleted after I discovered my idiocy. I also deleted girls and pantsu recaps because I don't see any point in keeping them there, I don't have snk recap or other dumb recaps in my list so that's why.

I actually have confession. I deleted bunch of yaoi and shonen ai stuff I have seen since now that I'm adult I found those pretty cringy and embrassing. I don't want to be reminded of shit I used to watch.

Apart from that I only delete from PTW- or like someone said if I first start sth but drop it during first ep then I might delete it.

I only deleted entries that I have no plan in watching at all, most likely I added it because at the time it caught my attention and weeks, months etc later I find out that it's not my taste.

If I do start something and I dislike it, it goes on my dropped list.

I do i.e useless ovas or franchise movies. If I don't really care about them and they pad the list, then bye bye.

Just look at how many entries there are for Detective Conan. No way I'm adding all that.

i delete things in my ptw list that caught my attention at first but some time later i decide that i dont want to watch this thing anymore. Or in some cases i delete things that i will not forget to watch some day, so i delete it to not become a higher mess. Or something i want to watch but dont need more than 1 entry to remind me
i once have over 900 entries on my anime list in total, now i have about 500

Well, I stopped watching anime all together and decided to stay a manga only.
So I had a lot of "watching" and "On-hold" anime with 1 or 2 eps, rather than moving all of it to a "dropped" list that make people assume that I disliked it, despite me reading the manga for some of them fully, I just deleted them.
Now my anime list is a bit more clean and I can concentrate on updating the list that I really care about.

I once put a bunch of ova stuff I watched in my list, it just makes it more messy all around, so I don't put OVAs or shorts related to a series in my list unless it an actual sequel (like with black lagoon where the 3rd season was an ova)

There are rare instances:

1. Related entry purposes. :

If I watched something, but that triggered another related entry that I rather not watch and I rather not try to do that

I added to my PTW, but I didn't realize it's cumbersome because of all the related entries that is connected to the entry that is connected to the initial entry I'm interested in.

If I realize the entry won't trigger a "missing related" even though the link of relation is shown on MAL.

If I watch a short entry and then I realize there is a related short entry that is lost or not found.

(There are completed entries of franchises that I started, but will never complete in full because I already completed one of the main entries that took significant time, so I'm not going to delete those, so it will have to hang until I find an available source to complete it)

2. If it's something I watched and completed, but a MAL staff sneaks update the denominator of episodes for whatever legitimate reason, and I don't feel like finding that because of how tedious it would be.

3. Back when I had a PTW of more than 600, MAL loads first 300 and then you have to get to the bottom of the list in order for MAL to generate the next 300. That pissed me off, so I deleted the ones that were less desirable to watch such that my PTW was 600 and not be around 620. I don't have to deal with such a scenario. This also meant I limited adding things to my PTW as I had a stronger motivation to watch more until my PTW gets to 300 or less.

I only ever delete an anime from my list if I started watching it, but realized after just an episode or two that I didn't enjoy it, and dropped it. In that case, I'll usually just delete it completely, rather than add it to my Dropped list. I've done this probably hundreds of times. Otherwise, I don't delete anything.

I put stuff on my ptw list if it even looks interesting to me. So further down the line when I try to watch it and only watch like one or two episodes and don't like it, I will delete it instead of adding it to my dropped list. I add stuff to my dropped list when I have at least watched multiple episodes of it.

I'm one of those people with a gigantic number of entries and I like going back to it, scrolling through shows I watched or revising some scores.
To make it easier to do so and for it to be more fluid, I deleted most of the special, ova or recaps : most things related to a main series, I still try to take care to watch them but they fill unnecessary place in my list.
Same goes for a lot of music clips that didn't really belong there and forgot quickly after watching them, I only kept select arthouse clips.
There's also some memes shorts that I didn't bother to add because theykre only meant as "lower your mean entries" and don't have any interest beside being mediocre and boring.
I also deleted some ptr or ptw but everyone does that.

Not all episodes were fansubbed unfortunately. If you have the dubbed version, have a Japanese raw nearby because the Spanish and French dubs edited it to hell, French dub even more so!

that's a bummer, at least there are more episodes subbed than kimengumi, damn! that show has 2 out of 86 episodes subbed, but even so, I'm gonna watch it. What can go wrong? I watched digimon, dragon ball, pokemon first in german when I was little and in my head I understood

@AbrahamOmosun go to the anime page and then click "Edit Details". Refresh the page if you need to.
You should see a "Delete" on the top then.

On mobile click the score/status and "Edit Detailed Info".

The only time I've ever deleted a title from my list was because I had only watched 1 episode of it before dropping it when I normally follow the 3-episode-rule. Even then that was years ago and I ended up regretting it later when I picked it back up and completed the whole series.
