How much weight does personal enjoyment have in your anime scores?

IMO there is nothing with more weight than my personal enjoyment. I can ignore the flaws if the anime is just entertaining :v

What else should I base my rating on, doesn't help me a lot if it has great art and animation but I don't give a crap about them characters and story.

That kinda affects my rating, but animation, characters and plot doesn't affect my rating as much as my enjoyment does.

Depends what you mean with enjoyment, all the anime with 5 or higher enjoyed me but different anime can provide different types of enjoyment. Jojo is fun, Planetes is interesting, Monster is fascinating. If the flaws are too evident it does lower my enjoyment or if I don't enjoy enough I pay too much attention to the flaws.

If you enjoyed a show without giving a crap about characters and story, where do you take your enjoyment from?

Animation and soundtrack? I know it's a stretch but the former is just what I liked from Kabaneri, while the latter for la'corda d'oro.

From the previous comment I understood that you rate just based on enjoyment and don't care about characters and story which would be strange because I think they have a big part in making a show entertaining or enjoyable in a way or another. However what you meant is that you don't take the elements of a show apart and judge them singularly but just give a rating overall based on how much you enjoyed it, right?

only about 90% or so. I tend to give credit or discredit where it seems fit.
sometimes i give shows high scores if i'm just not their target audience and for some reason wrongfully picked up the anime, but i can imagine other people can enjoy it.

So shows that I'm not interested in can score high, but shows that piss me off will get crap scores.

I think that animation and soundtrack do enhance an anime but the basic elements are characters and story. If those two elements are good I can ignore bad animation like I can ignore minor flaws. The soundtrack doesn't affect me or at least I don't notice unless it is really memorable.
But keep in mind that I am one that can watch videos at 360p without being bothered by it so my opinions on animation are not very strong.
For example even I recognize that UBW's animation is outstanding but I didn't like the story and characters so it won't get a higher score than 4 from me (at least the first season, second season was better). On the other hand I like 5cm per second and the outstanding animation made it go from a 7 to a 8.

Yep, that's exactly what I meant :3
So while I definitely judge the art and characters and everything, I don't give each one a specific amount of weight in the end. It's just the overall enjoyment which is important for my rating.

That's how I do it too, but I usually don't rate good anime that I didn't like above 6...

To that opening thing... I don't really care about openings and endings too, I usually know all those songs already (thank you osu!) and I enjoy most of 'em, but I wouldn't listen them on my phone/ w/e device...
There is just one anime that had really interesting openings: "Gakkou Gurashi" with all those easter eggs, googled all of 'em and it was hilarious, that kinda affected my rating a bit...

I, personally, give 96% for enjoyment, and 4% for animation.

There's lot of people that says "Anime score is for story, animation, music, etc." but doesn't matter the enjoyment! Just like a robot.

Personal enjoyment can add or subtract 2 points for me. Usually my personal enjoyment is equal to the score I give. But sometimes there are some anime that I have an arbitrary bias towards.

Well a show like http://myanimelist.net/anime/750/Binchou-tan is pretty much not fun to watch for me. But at the same time I can't really say it's that bad either. I don't get any entertainment out of it, but I assume people under 5 might. :P

I gave it a 7 because well, as an anime it's ok and there's not much annoying happening, it's simply that I'm not interested in it myself. So in case anyone ever wants to know a kiddy show, I can go through my list and look at it and see a 7 and remember it wasn't all that bad.

MAL itself says that the score you give an anime should be based on the enjoyment that you got out of it, though I wouldn´t base my score on enjoyment alone if I were writing a review

Almost none at all. My rankings are based purely on the title's merits and quality. For example, Excel Saga is one of the most enjoyable anime ever made, but objectively speaking, its story and characters are way too lazily-written, and so the show gets a 6 or 7, I don't remember which. If it wanted a higher score, it should've followed the basic rule of actual 10/10 comedies like Airplane! or The Naked Gun and made the story and characters rock-solid before going to work on the incredible comedy.

But alas, Excel Saga remains a hilarious comedy that falls apart once you apply even a single brain cell to it, and any anime that falls apart once you start thinking about it can never be given a high score.

EDIT: I suppose the simplest way to put it is this: If you take out the comedy, does your story still function and make sense? If yes, then great, you've written a great comedy. If not, then, sadly, you're Excel Saga.

This glorious signature image was created by @Mayumi!

I am the Arbiter of Absolute Truth, and here is my wisdom:

"Anime was always influenced by the West. This is not news.
Shoujo is the superior genre primarily aimed at young people.
Harem/isekai are lazy genres that refuse any meaningful innovation.
There is no 'Golden Age.' There will always be top-shelf anime.
You should be watching Carole & Tuesday."

About 99% or so?

Unless you're like a paid critic or something I really don't see why you should worry so much about anything else. It's your sparetime hobby after all

You have to realize that enjoyment is something derived from all the so-called "objective" categories. They're not exclusive to each other

The remaining 1% is for weird exceptions like Mayoiga for example which, whilst humorous, is also entertaining for wholly unintentional reasons

I feel like enjoyment has more weight the more I enjoy the anime. For example, I would put the quality of YnS 2 at about a 7 but I gave it a 10 because of how much I enjoyed it and my enjoyment level of Akira would be about a 1 but I gave the anime a 4.

Semi-ripped from my profile:

Enjoyment: Based on my feelings and reactions throughout the show (Grins? Laughs? Hype? Feels?). Weight: 50% to 80%.

Satisfaction: Based on my final impression and opinion after finishing the show (Good conclusion? Feeling of fulfilment? Nothing bothers?). Weight: 20% to 50%.

Enjoyment is the overall rating. Giving extra points for "good animation" or "well even if I didn't like any of them, all the characters are well written" is retarded if you still didn't like the damn thing. You enjoy good anime, you don't enjoy bad anime.

I actually find it harder to rate based on personal enjoyment rather than just going with my gut feeling of what I think the score should be. There are some anime like Bartender, Princess Tutu, and Shirobako that felt slow and weren't the most fun shows to watch but I still feel good about completing and I gave them all 8s (quite high on my scale). What score would these get on an enjoyment scale? Would it be 6s or possibly even 4s? Does the "aftertaste" count as part of the enjoyment even though it isn't experienced during the anime? Should I give Vividred Operation a 9 even though it obviously wasn't a good anime?

I'd say quite a lot. Giving a score to an anime is the small equivalent of a review just without the details. Reviews in an of themselves are just elaborate opinions created by ones perspective. What some find fun and enjoyable, others may find appaling and trite. However, I wouldn't say I only use the bases of overall enjoyment to give a score. Even if I disliked an anime overall, if it had some points I liked, I'd take said points into consideration when scoring (even though most of the time said points are usually too small to make an overall dfference).
