WOW What a follow up to last episode, S1 was enjoyable, but I m glad this is soo much on a next level. Oda is such a likeable character, the way he lived his life, I m sad for the kids that had to die like that, for Oda and also for Danzai, that was really amazing storytelling, sure some minor hipcutts, but even the villain had something points going for him, and the Mafia Boss was behind this all... T_T RIP a great character, and I m very much more looking forward to how Danzai will live is life with such experiences being the core of what he has become. Probably the best first arc I have seen in any anime, and what a fantastic jump in quality from S1. Bravo. Sayonara, Sakunosuke Oda.  |

| Ogai had a meeting with Ango and Chief Taneda, they agreed the Port Mafia is gonna forget about Ango and also is gonna defeat Mimic, in exchange of a comercial permit. Oda went to confront Mimic, he had a small encounter with Ranpo. Dazai went to talk with Ogai, it's revealed that Ogai let Mimic enter to put the government in a difficult situation and get the comercial permit, also sacrificing Oda to get it, Dazai left. Oda assaulted the hideaway and had a one to one fight with Gide, both died, Dazai arrived when Oda was in the ground and told him that if he wants to understand humanity's instincts he could be either side, so better be in the good one. Dazai looked for Chief Taneda to get a recommendation to help and enter to the Armed Detective Agency. So, that's why Dazai is not with Port Mafia any more and he works with the detectives. Poetic dead to Oda and symbolic to Dazai, so much, that he changed sides. Port Mafia Boss is shit men, he sold Oda's life for a permission. Ango is free again, don't know what happened to him, I don't remember Ogai appearing that much in the first season, he's a completely motherfucker, could be a good villain. |

| Man, this mafia backstory was top tier. I couldn't have asked for a better way to kick off the second season. |

| Okay, I wasn't gonna make an episode comment until the last episode but I gotta just say this. It was touching. Someone like Dazai who isn't really a good or bad guy ends up quitting the mafia and joining a more wholesome group because of his friend died. It's good. So far this season is better than the previous. |
| Rewatching this for S3.... what a compelling arc this was. No doubt my favourite of the first two seasons. Oda Sakunosuke is such a great character, it’s a shame he couldn’t be in more episodes. Some really great character development for Dazai.... he joined Port Mafia to find a reason to live, and then joined the Armed agency to protect lives. I really liked Oda’s line “If both sides are the same for you, become someone good... save the weak, and protect the orphans.” We see how Dazai lives by this code now, and we get some reasoning to why he helps Atsushi (an orphan). Great episode ! Well done |
| You pretty much knew Oda was going to be the one dead, but man, he as such a great character. All he wanted was to be a free man and write a book in peace. Somehow, these four episodes completely topped the entirety of the last season. |

| Why Odasaku's voice actor has to take on the guy who is always suffering and it really fits him for that but still that voice is to good... can't remember the others... RIP Oda. |
| This arc was completely on ANOTHER LEVEL!. Now i understand why dazai left the port mafia and choose to be part on the good side. Odasaku was really an interesting character with his smooth personality. He helped Dazai a lot and he was his only friend :( I really enjoyed (and got emotional) to watch this backstory. I hope someday Dazai can fill that lonely hole he has. Even its impossible... |
| These first four episodes of this second season were very good. I really liked Oda and his relationship with Dazai. |

| Fuckin beautiful man. Came into this second season thinking oh nice so we get a little backstory of dazai in his port mafia days, guess it’ll be good but I hope we get back up to speed again. Now I feel like my souls been ripped out of my body. Wasn’t expecting this not to pull any punches; this was a heavy hitter bro |

| Clearly the best episode of the show so far. Unlike usually I have zero complaints; the episode was nearly flawless. High drama at its finest, complete with the sad and tragic death of probably my most favorite character so far (Sakunosuke), superbly voiced by the great Junichi Suwabe. We also got a very good explanation of why Dazai left the Port Mafia. It was due to the dying wish/request of his best and then only friend! So the prequel / neo-noir phase of the show ends and we will get back to right after the first season ended, i.e. the confrontation with the Guild. edit : Now that I think about it Dazai would have probably left the Port Mafia anyway due to the Mafia's boss using Sakunosuke to get that permit; it's just not clear what he would have done after leaving had his friend not asked him to start helping people; perhaps he would have joined a competing criminal organization. |

| Another amazing episode. And with this, Oda is dead. I loved him a lot, I find it nice how they showed us this story before continuing with the guild arc. I just can't describe how great this episode was, EVERYTHING in it so I'll just leave it like that. I'll miss these people a lot. |

| 10/10 alone for this arc. The story & direction were amazing. Saw his death coming with all those deathflags but it was still such a tragic loss. RIP Oda Sakunosuke, such a great character; and the man who changed Dazai. Suwabe Junichi is a GOD. |

| I’m shocked no one figured out this arc heavily borrowed from Rurouni Kenshin episodes 6-7 in the anime version. Kenshin battles Kurogasa Arawaru, a relic from the war who wishes more than anything to die in battle while assasinating corrupt government officials in the beginning of the Meiji era. Meanwhile Kenshin is struggling to stick to his vow of never killing again as repentance for being an assassin during the war. until Kaoru is abducted and he goes aggro. All the main parts are the same. Rurouni Kenshin was released in the mid 90’s. |
| Wow. Just wow. What an absolutely brilliant arc and origin story for the enigmatic and ex-mobster Dazai. I'm not sure if the rest of the season will be able to live upto this. Edit-Also the mob boss proves himself to be as despicable as his title implies. |

| That fight was amazing, sadly Odasaku died, he was the great charachter and a great friend to Dazai. Now the story will continue where it stopped at the 1st season? |

| One of the best episodes I have ever seen and defenitely the best episode of the series till now. Oda became one of my favourite characters ever made, he will bw missed.... This arc was the perfect start for s2. |

| Whoa! Basically the first four episodes are kind of prequel. And now the actual story continues. Well I didn't have any idea about that. I felt this season provides us a different storyline and had no relation with season 1. But now, this episode gave a full circle and these four episodes helped us know more about the characters who were less explored in Season 1 and gave us a good passage to continue from where previous season had ended. That's an interesting and good take. Compared to First Season, this season looks more rugged and beautiful. Looking further eagerly. RIP ODAKU. Sad to say goodbye to you. You won my heart as a great character.  |

| Didn't expect the arc to get wrap up this early. Overall, it looked decent (worse than last episode), gun fighting in free space aren't necessarily my thing so not a huge fan of the climax. |
| The gunfight and dialogue between Oda and Gide was pretty damn corny and sort of a dent of a pretty good but not amazing action scene. Rest of the episode was good though, and gave Dazai the motive to change himself to save others after respecting Oda's wishes, and leave Port Mafia for good. Oda's character is one of the best ones in this series full of mediocre characters for the most part, in a really limited runtime too. Current version of Dazai would still be really annoying to watch for me but it was good to see more of his serious roots through this arc to develop and flesh out his character at least. The connection to Oda wanting Dazai to save orphans and help them out ties well with how Dazai saved Atsushi in the first episode and gave him a place where he can belong to and help others in tandem. |

| Oda should have thought farther ahead and figured they wouldn't just leave him alone. It's a shame he gave them what they wanted in the end. He truly deserved better. That was one of the most emotional anime deaths I've seen. It was so well done and tender. Dazai never trolled Odasaku like he does Chuuya or Kunikida. He never exerted power over him, he always just earnestly admired him and his moral convictions. He was something Dazai wasn't, and I get the sense there's few people Dazai respect. This makes Dazai scarier than I thought. He didn't leave the mafia because he wanted to be a better person. He didn't take Atsushi under his wing because he felt compassion, he did it for Odasaku. The annoying Dazai we know now is still morally neutral and empty inside. |
