This anime pacing is so AWKWARDDDDDDD The directing is so weird! The jokes are so weird! It feels like everything is all over the place! Is the manga like this too? Did they cut things, change the other of things or something like that? What the hell----- |

I don't mind little bits of fanservice in shows if its done well but... what the hell was that lmao? Literally what was that? How does that even happen? I'd honestly accept Shinra falling face first into her chest more than him stupidly slipping his hand up her bra and into her pants. It was such a pointless scene and honestly felt like it was spoon fed to a brainless audience. Kind of ruined my initial expectations for how the series will progress but I'll still give it the benefit of the doubt for now, plus I love Maki too much to drop it. |

Half of the content barely feels like it belongs at all, no wonder the ass and titty grab felt so damn out of place... because it was. Then we have some douchebags on here who write it off complainers as 'special snowflakes', while entirely missing the point to why people are complaining about it. The awkward pauses (I can almost hear crickets chirping as we await the punchline) and shots when something "funny" happens feel extremely odd that I legitimately feel second-hand embarrassment wafting out towards me from the screen. All this does is make me miss Black☆Star. |

Someone revealed that the world has changed due to the fires, and, in Tokyo, an eternity-style thermal power generator was created by The Holy Sol Temple and Haijima Industries, Joker appeared, and they talked about Obi and Shinra. The Rookie Fire Soldier Games are about to begin and Shinra encountered with Burns (firefighter that saved him twelve years ago), he encountered with a girl (participant) named Tamaki. The games started and immediately after entering to the building, Shinra encountered with Joker and two knocked out workers, they started to fight while Shinra tried to save the workers and Joker revealed him that his brother (Sho) is alive; Arthur and Tamaki reached Shinra and helped him, Joker left leaving a lot of ashes for an explotion, quickly they created an escape in the roof and got out of there saving the workers, the building exploded, in their freefall Burns saved Tamaki, the fire was controlled. Shinra talked with Obi about Special Fire Force Companies, which are influenced by different societies, like Fire Defense Agency, Tokyo Army, The Holy Sol Temple or Haijima Industries, and they could have information they don’t have. It looks like the planet is not the same as us, it has changed, apparently, by the fires. This guy, Joker appeared, everyone knew that Shinra’s brother is alive, just a cliché. Obviously, Joker and Burns know about it, but there’s a mystery behind everything. For a moment, the show used too much perverted comedy, that’s not good. Arthur landing was funny. Excellent animation in the fight, it reminds me to the fire benders from Avatar. There’s a lot to discover about the other companies and their interests and information. |

After the fiasco that was the KyoAni incident, we're back with Episode 3, the heavily censored episode. But other than the censored ED of burning nuns, nothing feels different. And I'm just gonna say, Tamaki might not be waifu status but nice girl to have. And her neko powers are kinda good. As much as Shinra gets more world-building about how the Fire Force (or rather the organization) works, and how VERY soon Joker shows up and meta reveals about the incident Shinra faced 12 years ago. So Shinra being in the 8th isn't just for show, but to my eyes, it felt like they're a team of ragtag misfits, and working to distinguish good and evil from within, at least that's what the chief mentions. Action was great, honest to the tongue, but the directing this episode was off the rails, having too much to focus on whilst balancing comedy and action. Tamaki's fanservice was OK at best, while Shinra's moment of truth was hamfisted with infodump. |

I wish they didn't add fan service but it's ok, Shinra vs Joker (or something like that) this fight scene is op, I wonder where Sho is and Tamaki is cute as fuck. Do you think Shinra and Oubi will succeed for research of the Human's Burn? |

Then the akward scene with the captain and the old guy where he says you got a good man and its just there far too long. I'm pretty sure, by now, Fanservice is something you should come to terms with as an avid anime viewer. A lot of people, myself included, love seeing it. Shinra being praised, the groping scene, and pretty much every scene with a buff dude--that's coming from a Straight Guy too. The buff people are done so well, that even I am able to admire it and say 'Daaaaaaaayyyummm son, he's hotter than the Infernals.' The captain and the old guy scene was a bit awkward just because of the long pause after the hold dude is done talking---but, other than that, I saw no problem with it. |

Was it worth waiting two weeks for episode 3? Yes, really! What an amazing and shocking episode, he had everything. I couldn't contain the excitement in most of the episode, much less, when the self-styled "Joker" told Shinra that his little brother was still alive. Wow! At that time, I was in total shock, it was the most shocking episode. On the other hand, even though Shinra had the opportunity to know the whole truth about the fire in which his mother died, he was faithful to his ideals and his promise to be a "hero." He knew how to control the situation and save all his teammates. He is an admirable boy, he has earned my respect and has become one of my favorite protagonists of the season. Now, with what Captain Obi said about the Fire Force, it is more than clear that the other companies hide something and that what the Joker said to Shinra is no lie. Shinra could not have entered a better company than company 8, he was lucky, also to have Obi as captain, his background shows that he is a great person. By the way, I was about to die of laughter in all the comic scenes of this episode. The neko girl, Tamaki, is very funny. How the hell can she find herself in such situations? "I know you intervened to distract me, but that really distracts me," Shinra, you're lucky, hahaha 😂. I also laughed a lot when Arthur fell from the building. LOL. If you thought this anime was simply about firefighters with powers saving people from fires and monsters, it isn't. The story and the plot go much further, now I know. I think I was not wrong in choosing this anime as my favorite of the season, even before it was released, it was the one I was waiting for the most. I'm glad it will exceed my expectations. It is simply great. Speaking of the characters, they are really nice, and the animation and soundtrack, well what to say, is amazing, and in this episode they came out in Shinra's fight against Joker. It was wonderful for my eyes. I'm starting to love this anime. I will look forward to each episode. Ps: A minute of silence for the people who died in the tragedy of Kyoto Animation. |

Already our antagonist shows up and reads a short paragraph that summarizes to: "Join the dark side Shinra and I'll tell you about your brother," but hey at least he looks sort of threatening. Also we get introduced to Tamaki who's introduction is literally just Maki, but worse. The only thing this show has going for it is it's world building. The characters are bland, the interactions are REALLY stilted and awkward, and the plot is extremely rushed. Pretty much this. I don't think I've seen stupider fan service from a non ecchi series. Completely useless scene. Ditto. That whole scene was just gross and unnecessary, and they made it worse by trying to make excuses with the "lucky lecher" thing. |

I think there was probably going to be a montage possibly with people burning alive, people fighting fires etc. But was cut to be sensitive to recent events. I suspect this because the pacing was way off, the scenes in that part were flat and the animation was mainly stills. This isn't a sign of a "bad director" persay. This seems more like "We had to cut this scene and it was a mad scramble to get it done". Oh and we didn't have any material to replace it with. Hence the "black space" censorship of the nuns in the ED. |

CeddyyBearr said: I have to say, the girls in the Anime are sexy as hell! Tamaki is no exception. That groping scene though... Lucky Lecher Lure? I would have liked an explantion there. Also she's a catgirl, of sorts.. Animation is incredible again, Shinra's battle against the Joker was awesome! Joker is one skilled guy, eventho he has a lot of help with those ashes. So he made the whole place blow up when Arthur and Tamaki joined the battle. Seeing them being saved was awesome, Tamaki by her skilled Captain and Arthur just falling straight into the ground. That alone made me laugh a lot. So something smells fishy within the Special Fire Force.. She seems like a joke character, a bit like the catgirl from k-project. Pointless slapstick comedy style fanservice. but for the 30 odd seconds of the show that it is in, it's like, whatever. Joker was freakin' badass. Loved that close-up still shot! Wondering what he will do next. Special Fire Force? Special unit? Yeah, those guys are up to stuff for certain. |

Bibimbapski said: Despite all the complaints about her character, Tamaki happens to be one of my favorite female characters in the series. As a matter of fact, she is my second favorite after Arthur and a certain someone from the the 7th brigade. She's my best girl because she is a very likable character, despite her being groped and used for cheap fan service. I got immune to it while reading the manga but personally, I see it as a parody of blatant fan service which is common in the Anime/manga series. Then again, this is a your run-of-the-mill shounen and they often come with lots of fan service at the expense of a female character that is absolutely ridiculous and illogical. If it's not your cup of tea, it won't get any better. Expect lots of moments with Tamaki getting groped and stripped. This certainly won't be the last time you'll see her in ludicrous and over-sexualized states. However, despite her being my favorite, I feel like that scene where Shinra groped her twice was executed very poorly. It's like BAM in your face, like how the eff did that happen? It looks like Shinra did it on purpose, while in the manga, it subtlety happened, she was stepping in front of him, he was raising his hand to stop and get Captain Burns` attention. He accidentally slipped and grab her tit and her ass in that manner. I also didn't like how they were trying to force that "humorous" part of Shinra questioning why Mamoru-kun was a mascot. Why did they repeat the "huh?" twice? That was really forced as well. On the plus note, the voice acting was great and the animation during Shinra's fight was wonderful but that part when Shinra landed with the two victims and his face was not animated was really weird. yeah i feel it's like a very simple joke about fan service but seems the shaft animators seems get the thing wrong but oh well the episode good nevertheless of the nearly forced fan service anyways glad that Shinra didn't meant to do that because the anime makes it obvious he want to do that lel also a final thing to say there was alot of animators worked on that episode lmao so that's why might there's some tiny mistakes |

This episode was uh, bad to say the least. First off we're exposed to some hand-wavy kind of world-building which isn't even interesting to hear about and comes off as just lazy, it shouldn't have two episodes to get us some world exposition. Then there's the ost which is about the only good thing. It looks alright, and the music is nice. We're introduced to the fan-service lady whose magic power is being sexually harassed! Hahaha, Isn't that funny? So funny, highly amusing.... So her whole character is being a tsundere who gets sexually assaulted a lot and inexplicably doesn't wear a full outfit because, fan-service and being assaulted. Oh then they try to do a joke which, wow is a really bad joke with absolutely no comedic timing and falls extremely flat. We see the Captain of the 1st Squad who, it's painfully obvious that he's villainous in some way and knows the TRUTH about THE FIRE. Then we proceed to see the girl get sexually assaulted by the main character twice. Fun. The building they're using for training... Wowe that's some bad art. It doesn't look bad but it's technically flawed. The shots of it make it look not big, like a slightly big-ish house but on the inside it's huge enough to support a ballroom which, we can't even see from the outside. Then the MC just, flies up to the top and that's about it. Shinra runs into Joker, who apparently got into this building without anyone noticing because we need him to. Also he knows about THE FIRE. His motivations also don't make sense - he wants Shinra to join him as a Devil, but his actions are wouldn't even hint to such a thing. Dude, if you want Shinra to join you guys, you shouldn't be threatening to kill innocent people. Shinra gets hit by the most obvious attack twice. Also the cut he suffers doesn't come up again. Then there's two weird scenes of the characters smiling, and I got to say, Shinra's whole devil smile thing has worn off as a gimmick pretty quickly. The emphasis of these scenes is entirely lost because A: there's no buildup and B: there's no proper followup. Then we get some more lazy action. Cut to break. Catgirl falls on Knightboy, they attempt to make comedy of this and it's not even funny. I do like how entirely unobservant the Knightboy is, where he doesn't register the two unconscious people, one dressed up as the guy suppose to be the dummy Infernal whom we know he saw. I feel like being this unobservant wouldn't be helpful in being a Fire Fighter. They do a little fight, escape then that's it, The rest of the episode is just, overall bad. We got several scenes that linger far too long. Also, the fact that Fire Force isn't even its own organisation and instead is just a joint effort by three organisations is YAWN. Corporate Corruption yaaay, boring. That's about it, that's the episode. So far, Episode 3 is by far the best episode, which is to say like being the tallest leprechaun. |

Well as I posted somewhere else, the reason for my 1/5 this episode is : The 2 guys in front of the burnt house or whatever you call that (ep3) lasted in total 56 seconds (0 animation / just some light effects) from 18:36 to 18:39 & 19:49 to 20:42. (edit = 21:10 to 21:17 aswell) The boat scene lasted 33 seconds from 18:44 to 19:17. Which is basically 1 min 35~ for 2 pictures. I guess they found a way to save money, just don't animate at all. |

This episode reminds me of that time in Naruto when Orochimaru infiltrated the Genin exam. Honestly, the fight between Shinra and the mysterious villain is probably the only decent action sequence so far. Gotta admit, that still frame moment showing both of them grinning gave me a chuckle. The ending exposition about the hierarchy of the Fire Force organization is interesting. Tamaki seems like a pretty good waifu, especially with her distinct Aoi Yuuki voice. Lol at people getting triggered by the fanservice. |

I didn't realize the only livable place was so small. Shinra meets the fireman who saved him (?) years ago, but he doesn't even recall the event. A competition is held to test the newcomers, typical shounen trope that would never happen in real life. Shinra meets the mysterious guy from the previous episode during the event and he reveals his brother is still alive. He knows about Shinra's past and the fire that happened. His gimmick is 灰, which is kind of cool. I'm not sure I'm on board with this whole thing taking place during a competition though, it feels too perfect in a way. The mystery man fucks with them a bit and destroys the competition and Shinra gets praised for helping save his peers, even from the firefighter from the past. It's also revealed there is a company called "灰島" that controls the production of the equipment they all use, a rich and powerful company. Makes me think of the 海軍 from One Piece. Comedy in this episode was lacking. |

To Love-Ru doesn't hold a candle to that fan service scene. It is known for being a series dedicated to fan service, but what's important is that there is probable cause for every instance, whether it's a gadget malfunction, or Rito tripping into someone. Rito is a klutz. He's confused with his new crazy lifestyle caused by Lala, and he gets in situations where his poor balance is tested. His actions are in character. In this fan service scene in Fire Force, the MC without any sense, gets his hand under her bra and gropes her. Then, while he steps away unable to explain it, she steps forward and suddenly he has both of his hands in her pants, grabbing her butt. In the writers defense, they call it "Lucky Lecher Lure". Implying this will be a recurring theme. In seconds, a new character with no introduction is reduced to no purpose other than being fan service material. There is no defense for this kind of service. It's forced fan service. It's fruitless and lazy. Besides the subpar storyboard direction and the underwhelming reveal for the antagonist plotline, setting the tone with that fan service scene is more than enough for me to drop the show. I might've enjoyed this black and white storytelling and senseless fan service if I was 10, but I feel like most people should be beyond this type of content. |

Well, right off the bat, that exposition dump is very confusing and came out of nowhere. Like...what? Space is distorting? There's a Tokyo Empire? Holy Sol Temple? Hajima Industries? Huh? Oh well...at least I can say that the fanservice was actually funny what with Shinra's creepy devil smile making it look SO wrong. It may have been blatant, but it was actually funny. Okay, the training simulation is giving me major Hero Academia flashbacks. And what's up with Maki's flaming cat ears? Shinra's got some sweet b-boy moves. I love the ending explanation by the captain about the politics involved within the Fire Force. Inner organizational conflicts are always interesting. Well, I was THIS to close to dropping this show, as the first two episodes felt so aimless and the tone was very inconsistent. But after this episode, I think I will be continuing. On to the next one! |

Did they literally steal Attack on titan / Shingeki no Kyojin core and just changed the words ? (BTW don't read ahead if you haven't watched SNK) I mean.. some 3 corps thing somebody inside those corps knows the answers and not telling everyone else the MC cooperating with the team that wants to find out the answer "bad" side asks MC to come over. Although in this anime they literally explain themselves as devils, so this is the downgrade they know they have been literally killing humans who have become demons. *cough* not SNK plot at all, nope wth? :D Lets take same plot and change terms and art = this show? |

The villain couldn't be more plain vanilla. MHA really influenced shounen shows for the worse. There needs to be more character to these characters, I feel like I barely know any of them at all. Knight guy was funny, for once the blonde macho male looks weak. I kind of see where the directing complaints are coming from, things move too fast even with this interesting fireman/dark underbelly concept, dystopia etc. |

Vysarine said: seeing all the people complaining about the fanservice makes me really glad it got edited out in the dub. Especially those manga scenes, that's just awful and it doesn't belong in this series at all It did not get edited out of the dub, it's still there like in the sub. The anime edited out some scenes from the manga however, maybe that's what you mean. EDIT: Ah, maybe you're talking about the Toonami broadcast. Wouldn't be the first time they've done that. |

the joker guy seems interesting , and the MC brother is still alive looks like we are about to meet the other departments it seems and it sounds like joker is voiced by the same dude that is doing the MC in Moau retry |

Everyone talking about the fan service when they should be talkin about the "wone wone nyine" scene. That scene killed me. |

The fighting in this episode was awesome! Shinra is a dope character, he kind of reminds me of a young Naruto (don’t come for me, I damn sure didn’t come from toot you...) and I’m excited to see more of the villain. And I forgot to mention in the previous episode: YOOOO the lieutenant is a di- Binge watching until I pass out? I hope I get caught up before I do. |

A lot of important people made an appearance in this episode. It seems the villain is Joker inspired, the classic way, I wonder for how long he’s going to fill in the villain’s role, sort of like the dead with the villain from Kimetsu no Yaiba. I had some doubts in the very first episode that his brother is going to be alive. He had white hear, which is very oddly similar to the white-haired captain of the 1st squad. They would be a blood relationship there. |

And dropped. The animation is pretty good and got me through the first three episodes; but maaan...this show is derivative as fuck. It feels like it's checking off a list of "What to Do to be a Successful Shonen show" 1. Protagonist is a guy wants to become a hero to help people in need with people thinking he's a demon because he may or may not have something to do with the death of his family 2. A rival said protagonist is put up against. 3. TOOOOOOOOURNAMENT AAAAAARC. 4. fanservice. Like, I understand that these tropes are what makes people drawn to these types of shows, but when there's dozens of shows that offer the same type of experience that Fire Force does, yeah I can afford to be picky. |

I’m not going to lie three episodes in and I already like the anime I already knew by the drawings of the characters it was the same person who made soul eater. |

Any girl voiced by Yuuki Aoi is instantly best girl. |

If Tamaki's gonna dress like that, merely bumping into her will result in feeling her up. I want to see another chick do it and see if she gets mad then. Still, hand inside bra/panties is on another level. Fanservice was awkward. Lots of it was awkward. Are we going to be serious? Are we going to be funny? It shifts tone suddenly. I didn't like how the ED was censored, but if it was for the KyoAni arson victims, I understand. Vysarine said: seeing all the people complaining about the fanservice makes me really glad it got edited out in the dub. Is there more that was censored out? I think I'm watching a bluray rip, not a version that aired on TV. |
