Hii!! Somehow it's March and I just saw your message... My favorite donghua is Mo Dao Zu Shi, I think it will be for a while. I am currently on the last book, struggling to finish it, because... I don't like how it is ending and I don't like the fact that it's ending. I literally have not even watched The Untamed; I'm out here trying to ration myself for a lifetime. I am absolutely hyperfixated on it. Of course, I can rewatch or reread the story, but personally, the first time experiencing a story, this story, is so important to me, in all forms.

I started Tian Guan Cifu and I was not really a fan, but I liked how it starts in the donghua/manhua (haven't read novel). Maybe I will pick it up again, or the novel version. As for SVSSS, I have not seen or read, but I really, really want to so maybe I will pick it up soon. Probably the novel, since I prefer reading.

I also completed the second season of Link Click. It was pretty cool, and the OP and ending is once again amazing. I have heard of Hanhua Riji but have never watched it. I might check it out since deities and fantasy is a genre that I grow more and more interested in. Anyways, hopefully we share more interest, I am very curious what a fan of SVSSS is into because from the description alone I have been very interested in it, which is rare for me. Usually just a description isn't enough to keep my attention.

Interesting. I thought the radio station was from earlier than 2008. By then the site's decline was very much apparent, and I gave up on it a couple of years later and moved to MAL. The influence of the site hung around for quite a few years afterwards though. Even years after I moved to MAL, if you searched for famous anime from the late 90s and early 2000s, the top result was often still animenfo, even though the site had become a ghost town by then. Many MAL synopsis for older anime cited animenfo as the source until the Rewrite team replaced them with their own in recent years. Back in its heyday, the main big 3 players in the space were Anime News Network (known for its industry leanings), anidb (a powerhouse of information and considerable membership, but not so much community content) and animenfo (known for its community and reviews). Kinda sad that animenfo was mismanaged to the point where it's the only one of those that no longer exist! I've been trying for years and years to write a series of blog posts to try and capture its history from my point of view before I forget it all, but it's a pretty daunting task and I'm kinda stuck lol.

IDK if it's that they like it, or if they don't have any better options. All I know is that Korean and Chinese novels tend to be exhaustively long

> Some stories I can't even remember the last chapter and have to go back to re-read it.
Yeah, in case I really want to read a long story, I simply focus on the main plot (or the side plot) that I'm invested in, and ignore all the other characters and plots. In such cases, when a character is re-introduced and I don't know who they are, I just roll with it lol. I mean, what's the point in reading about them when I'm not interested and I won't even remember them a few chapters later.

Ah, nice name. I just assumed it must be an amalgamation of the names of your fav Chinese characters. Sonal means "golden" in Sanskrit.

You get more money, but at what cost? You lose all but your core fanbase, which isn't a smart strategy to begin with. Are these authors managed by their companies/publication houses or do they churn out content based on their personal requirements?

> If not losing interest though, after 500 chapters I start to forget what happened before, until suddenly some character from chapter 23 comes back in chapter 562 and I'm like... Wait a second who tf are you?!
Exactly this, except it takes me barely 30 chapters to forget a forgettable side character. What's even the point in investing in stories where I can't even remember characters or plot points?

BTW, what does your name mean?

Hiii they're from Katanagatari. Its a tragic but reaaally beautiful story

Novels definitely are the superior choice as they have the best characterizations. However, I've found that Chinese novels in particular are exhaustively long. They keep getting into sub-plots that often have no bearing to the original plot, and by that time I've already lost interest in the story. That's why I just stick to manga, and when it's something exceptional, then manhwa or manhua.

Yeah, the censorship sucks. Not sure how the uncensored versions often find their way online, when only the censored version can be procured legally. I'm guessing dedicated fujos draw the dicks over the censored portions lol.
