The 11th and final episode of the television anime adaptation of Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari's "Oshi no Ko" manga announced a second season on Wednesday, revealing a teaser visual (pictured).

Produced by Doga Kobo, the 11-episode first anime season premiered its 82-minute first episode in Japanese theaters on March 17. Regular broadcasting began on April 12. HIDIVE simulcast the series worldwide, excluding Central America, South America, and Asia.

Akasaka and Yokoyari began serializing the supernatural drama manga in Young Jump magazine in April 2020. Shueisha shipped the 11th volume on March 17. The manga has a cumulative 9 million copies of its volumes in circulation.

Shueisha began publishing the manga in English on its Manga Plus platform in April 2022. Yen Press licensed the manga in English in July 2022. The second volume went on sale on May 23, and the third volume is scheduled for an August 22 release.

"Oshi no Ko" ranked 11th and seventh in the 2021 and 2022 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! rankings. The manga was nominated for the Manga Taisho Award twice in 2021 and 2022 and the 46th Kodansha Manga Awards in the General category in 2022.

Synopsis
In the entertainment world, celebrities often show exaggerated versions of themselves to the public, concealing their true thoughts and struggles beneath elaborate lies. Fans buy into these fabrications, showering their idols with undying love and support, until something breaks the illusion. Sixteen-year-old rising star Ai Hoshino of pop idol group B Komachi has the world captivated; however, when she announces a hiatus due to health concerns, the news causes many to become worried.

As a huge fan of Ai, gynecologist Gorou Amemiya cheers her on from his countryside medical practice, wishing he could meet her in person one day. His wish comes true when Ai shows up at his hospital—not sick, but pregnant with twins! While the doctor promises Ai to safely deliver her children, he wonders if this encounter with the idol will forever change the nature of his relationship with her. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

No surprise there, since it is a passion project. Strike while it's hot.
I hope it will not be the only time Doga Kobo does something else than CGDCT or SOL anime, because they really have a knack for this.

Oh yes. That's what I'm talking about, man. Funny enough, I predicted this about an hour ago or so. I mean it's one of the most peak, if not the most, animes of the year. This is well deserved. I love this. Ha!

They also tried something even more different with Ikebukuro West Gate Park and Yesterday wo Uttate (both ended up being pretty bad tho)

Even a supernatural mystery Ryoko's Case File Doga Kobo produced it. Idk why most people only knows that only SOL CGDCT could the studio adapts or produces.

People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

MAL is literally just anime Twitter as its own website lol.

Although the ending wasn't that good but I really like Yesterday wo Uttate. Doga Kobo also worked on Natsuyuki Rendezvous it's a romance anime between a married woman whose husband is dead and an underage boy. It tackles lots of mature themes. Highly recommended if anyone wants to watch something different.

I want them to work on more mature anime and less CGDCT.

yeah tbf for Yesterday when I say bad, it was mostly the ending that ruined it because I remember even thinking it could be my anime of the season when it was airing for a while.

also Natsuyuki Rendezvous has been in my PTW for so long, I really need to try it eventually.

Yep, the 1st season doesn't seem finished in terms of getting a good stopping place in the story, it needs a season 2/2nd part.

This anime derserves a second season for the sake of the story as well as the author's intent.

Why can't they do both? We barely have CGDCT focused studios, and CGDCT is what made Doga Kobo.

Eh. The boy was not underage. He was a university student, just like 12-15 years younger than her.

The thing is DogaKobo is pretty old stuio with a bunch of different series under their belt but they only gained popularity after a few of their CGDCT series became a hit in 2009-2010s.

That's perfectly fine, but it doesn't mean they should stop making one thing to make more of the other.

Okay, absolutely not surprising. I just pray that they’re able to keep up this level of quality!

Had it not been for this announcement, I think I would’ve immediately jumped to read the manga, lol.

Are there any chapters that the manga skipped or anything of the sort, though? Kind of like what I do for Kaguya-sama, I just read the manga chaptwrs that were either adapted differently or skipped entirely.

The only episodes that made some cuts are 1 and 11, the first episode adapted the first 10 chapters of the manga and cut a few scenes, especially the first page of chapters 2-8 IIRC. Episode 11 adapted 38-40 and a little of 41, but rearanged the chapters starting with the beggining of 39 then came back to 38 and skipped almost the half of chapter 39 plus some few anime original moments, those would be the only changes/skipped contents of the season, episodes 2-10 adapted chapters 11-37 and are pretty much a 1:1 adaptation

Even a supernatural mystery Ryoko's Case File Doga Kobo produced it. Idk why most people only knows that only SOL CGDCT could the studio adapts or produces.

Because most of those were made a while ago (Myself;Yourself, Plastic Memories, Ryoko's Case Files, Natsuyuki Rendezvous) or have mixed reviews (Ikebukuro West Gate Park, Yesterday wo Uttate), where as their CGDCT and SOL anime are more recent and are generally well received.

I am not sure about the next break-point for the season. The latest (and probably last) arc needs a season of it's own but it is not possible to cram everything else in 13 eps without serious cuts.

I think the breaking point will be chapter 80 (2.5D arc and the next one)
